I think we should be aloud to do an odds on if we wish and odds against lol in that case my banker is Annie power for the mares and at a bit better value ivanovich gorbatov for the triumph
Report BornToWin January 31, 2016 8:31 PM GMT
Steeplechasing at the highest level can produce incidents and accidents, more so than over the smaller obstacles (I think). So my banker has to be going over hurdles.

I really want something to beat Faugheen, not sure why. I loved the Fly so its not the Mullins factor.

I digress, it has to be the imperious THISTLECRACK.

Not really a banker to rely on but;

Any runner from the McCain stable. Don't know why, but given the loss of so many horses with know real reason for it and him starting to re-build and the promise of possibly a couple lurking in handicaps i will bet them all blind each way. There will only be 1 or 2, 3 max and will surely be a double fig price. Just one of them trainers am sure gets one a year on average and even if that's wrong would be a great 2 fingers to the Rooneys if they go home with a blank Mischief

STS...........thats a real wild hunch........my advice, save your money and buy a lottery ticket. GL.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 February 1, 2016 10:05 AM GMT
Yes HB it is a wild hunch but i love a good story and i always look out for stuff like this. Plenty of 'unfashionable' yards get 1 winner from no more than 2 or 3 runners every year and they usually the 20/1+ winners you get too. Not a means to profit from far from it, a mere interest to very small stakes that can sometimes yealed decent winnings on races you wouldn't otherwise have an interest in.

If i remember rightly last year i didn't really find anything, i probably did and nothing won but do remember as well as having my main bet being On the Fringe in the foxhunters (in Cheltenham thanks to betfair and my good friend for offering me his +1 in the betfair lounge, what an experienceLove) i did find Follow the/your DreamsConfused or whatever it was called and it was placed! What a day that was but wont go into it!

Douvan and Faugheen look Bombproof and I couldn't split them in terms of a banker. Sorry for being unoriginal!!
Report robbo69 February 1, 2016 12:19 PM GMT
Thistlecrack, why is it still odds against?. Surely as big a cert as Douvan and Faugheen......
Report shockster February 1, 2016 12:32 PM GMT
I would say Thistlecrack is odds against because there are still credible dangers.  Yes hes is absolutely the one they have to beat, but Cole Harden could be a force on faster ground. Alpha Des Obeaux is the least exposed and is still improving.  VVM could be anything.

Douvan & Faugheen to me just have to jump cleanly and we know if they are fit and well there is nothing to touch them.

That's just how I see it.
Report soul of wit February 1, 2016 12:44 PM GMT
My banker at semi-decent odds is No More Heroes (RSA Chase).

His jumping last time was impeccable (visually as impressive as Master Minded in his Queen Mother demolition job).

Form lines through Monksland and Roi des Francs stack up. As long as handles Cheltenham (should do - was unlucky last year in the AB when heavily backed) he should win this time and at a better price than most of Mullins' lot.
Report Can't Catch Me February 1, 2016 12:45 PM GMT
I've heard countless people say NMH was 'unlucky'. I just don't see that at all myself. He simply wasnt good enough on the day.
Report soul of wit February 1, 2016 12:46 PM GMT
ok that's a fair view, but he can jump a fence and the competition looks thin
Report slowerthanjohn February 1, 2016 12:47 PM GMT
He was unlucky with the ride Cooper gave him! Very poor.
Report Can't Catch Me February 1, 2016 12:51 PM GMT
I just dont think it costs him that much momentum or the race john. Not sure he was ever going to get past Martello Tower myself.
Report Can't Catch Me February 1, 2016 12:52 PM GMT
I fully respect him this year though soul... he's proven he can handle the track, jumps for fun and stays ok. But I think its so hard to pick between him and MoT. Im a MoT man myself, but think this has the potential to be the best match up of the whole week.
Report slowerthanjohn February 1, 2016 12:56 PM GMT
All about opinions CCM he wasn't ridden to best effect that's for certain, a stayer trying to take a gap that wasn't there in bad ground, not helpful.
Report impossible123 February 1, 2016 1:37 PM GMT
NMH was in the wrong places at the wrong time, and that was mainly due to the decisions the pilot took, I firmly believe. Also,  but for the owner's other runner - the eventual 2nd when its path was blocked when delivering a challenge - it might have won or definitely finished 2nd in the AB 2015.

My short price banker is Faugheen (not very original I understand), and my longer price 'good thing' is Don Cossack if jumping the last in unison and/or no more than 2 lengths behind the leader/s.
Report maelduin February 1, 2016 1:57 PM GMT
At the prices Thistlecrack for me.
Report cufcno1 February 1, 2016 2:19 PM GMT
What price would more of that be to beat milsean and Martello tower over 3 miles over hurdles, and would he beat them..yes,nmh agreed does look a bit better over fences but more of that doesn't look bad either, the 2 horses prices should be the other way round
Report giggsy3444 February 1, 2016 3:11 PM GMT
I believe NMH should've won the AB last year. In that ground over that trip having to stop pull him around the 2 in front and get him going definitely cost him more than he was beat.

Exactly HB, just living the dream, nowt wrong with a bit of fun, our sport doesn't have to be serious in all aspects of betting!

Though tbf, you come across as someone who is as dark as your initials suggest, HB, (as in pencils) Hayling the Billy (as in billy goat gruff, we all no the devil comes in all disguises including a goatConfused)

It basically all suggests to me that you only have nightmares Devil

Don't give up the day job. Not sure your personality profiling is up to much. I am a dreamer by nature. Multiple failed AP Acca's to prove it. Like you say as long as it all stays fun then life is good. Good luck to you and The Don.

No problem Haylingbilly mate, all is good in love and war on here

By the way, I know not in anyways related but there is a little beauty being offered by a certain VC

Seems NS mean sweet 'FA' to VC seeing as NS now at home and not M

Effectively evens about the 'away' team whom are now playing at home and the draw (5/2 NS 7/2 draw)

I cannot play, but am sure many on here may be able to take advantage.

GL followersWink, remember, keep stakes low. Keep it sweet Love

Don Poli - jumps for fun, will relish the trip and uphill finish, 2 x Chelt winner. Although not a 'sexy' performer; like Coneygree last year ticks all the right boxes.

Don Cossack doesn't seem in love with Cheltenham and his jumping is suspect when pace is put to the race.
Vatour won't stay in a horsebox.
Djakkadam has it all to prove with a suspect preparation.

The rest lack the class.
