Douvan the banker of all bankers.

I think we should be aloud to do an odds on if we wish and odds against lol in that case my banker is Annie power for the mares and at a bit better value ivanovich gorbatov for the triumph

By:
Steeplechasing at the highest level can produce incidents and accidents, more so than over the smaller obstacles (I think). So my banker has to be going over hurdles.
I really want something to beat Faugheen, not sure why. I loved the Fly so its not the Mullins factor. I digress, it has to be the imperious THISTLECRACK. |

Not really a banker to rely on but;
Any runner from the McCain stable. Don't know why, but given the loss of so many horses with know real reason for it and him starting to re-build and the promise of possibly a couple lurking in handicaps i will bet them all blind each way. There will only be 1 or 2, 3 max and will surely be a double fig price. Just one of them trainers am sure gets one a year on average and even if that's wrong would be a great 2 fingers to the Rooneys if they go home with a blank ![]() |

STS...........thats a real wild hunch........my advice, save your money and buy a lottery ticket. GL.

By:
Yes HB it is a wild hunch but i love a good story and i always look out for stuff like this. Plenty of 'unfashionable' yards get 1 winner from no more than 2 or 3 runners every year and they usually the 20/1+ winners you get too. Not a means to profit from far from it, a mere interest to very small stakes that can sometimes yealed decent winnings on races you wouldn't otherwise have an interest in.
If i remember rightly last year i didn't really find anything, i probably did and nothing won but do remember as well as having my main bet being On the Fringe in the foxhunters (in Cheltenham thanks to betfair and my good friend for offering me his +1 in the betfair lounge, what an experience ) i did find Follow the/your Dreams or whatever it was called and it was placed! What a day that was but wont go into it! |

STS - Living the dream obviously. May you have many more Cheltenham experiences to match. Just keep Donald out of your dreaming !!

By:
Douvan and Faugheen look Bombproof and I couldn't split them in terms of a banker. Sorry for being unoriginal!!
By:
Thistlecrack, why is it still odds against?. Surely as big a cert as Douvan and Faugheen......
By:
I would say Thistlecrack is odds against because there are still credible dangers. Yes hes is absolutely the one they have to beat, but Cole Harden could be a force on faster ground. Alpha Des Obeaux is the least exposed and is still improving. VVM could be anything.
Douvan & Faugheen to me just have to jump cleanly and we know if they are fit and well there is nothing to touch them. That's just how I see it. |
By:
My banker at semi-decent odds is No More Heroes (RSA Chase).
His jumping last time was impeccable (visually as impressive as Master Minded in his Queen Mother demolition job). Form lines through Monksland and Roi des Francs stack up. As long as handles Cheltenham (should do - was unlucky last year in the AB when heavily backed) he should win this time and at a better price than most of Mullins' lot. |
By:
I've heard countless people say NMH was 'unlucky'. I just don't see that at all myself. He simply wasnt good enough on the day.
By:
ok that's a fair view, but he can jump a fence and the competition looks thin
By:
He was unlucky with the ride Cooper gave him! Very poor.
By:
I just dont think it costs him that much momentum or the race john. Not sure he was ever going to get past Martello Tower myself.
By:
I fully respect him this year though soul... he's proven he can handle the track, jumps for fun and stays ok. But I think its so hard to pick between him and MoT. Im a MoT man myself, but think this has the potential to be the best match up of the whole week.
By:
All about opinions CCM he wasn't ridden to best effect that's for certain, a stayer trying to take a gap that wasn't there in bad ground, not helpful.
By:
NMH was in the wrong places at the wrong time, and that was mainly due to the decisions the pilot took, I firmly believe. Also, but for the owner's other runner - the eventual 2nd when its path was blocked when delivering a challenge - it might have won or definitely finished 2nd in the AB 2015.
My short price banker is Faugheen (not very original I understand), and my longer price 'good thing' is Don Cossack if jumping the last in unison and/or no more than 2 lengths behind the leader/s. |
