Good value Imo,
Form boosted well today by delusion of grandeur and champers on ice who both got slaughtered by him in different races. Got the ground and course form at cheltenham. Unbeaten and one I deffinately want on my side.
No idea if he goes neptune or bartlett, with slight preference for the bartlett the way he stayed on at cheltenham. But he'd have a great chance of winning either Imo.

Albert Bartlett is the long term aim according to his stable tour a month or so ago in The Weekender (after last run). And agree regarding his chances. If his win was more recent, his price would be a fair bit shorter.
Report ACStafford January 2, 2016 12:29 AM GMT
Seems a fair price. Who is it with?
Report scooby91 January 2, 2016 11:09 AM GMT
Hills.
Report baNjackst January 2, 2016 2:29 PM GMT
Any race is the way to go, trainer said he wants to be very careful with this potential and at this stage the neptune would look a far easier option. Not sure the trainer would want the horse in a battle with barters hill. S.V Looks very useful and could win either race. Im sure if bellshill is favourite for neptune I know I take him on, looked uneasy at cheltenham in bumper last year.

10s GREAT VALUE.
Report Can't Catch Me January 2, 2016 3:31 PM GMT
Only 8's with Hills
Report scooby91 January 2, 2016 4:08 PM GMT
Was 10s this morning when the market was available. Since its come back now showing at 8s.values gone now but I am suprised they went 10s for so long with the form being franked and the uncertainty over neptune or bartlett.
I hope he goes bartlett but by no means is it a certainty he dosent line up in the neptune
Report delsie777 January 2, 2016 9:41 PM GMT
I reckon Up For Review will laugh at them all in the Bartlett
Report scooby91 January 2, 2016 9:59 PM GMT
Don't mind if he does as I'm on him and barters hill aswell. Just thought 10s to cover both races looked very good value Imo.
Will be interesting to see what lines up nearer the time, sure to be suprises between neptune and bartlett
Report buddeliea January 3, 2016 8:17 AM GMT
Don't think he will be laughing at Barters hill.

I backed Barters Hill some time ago for the Neptune at 16s ShockedBlush. Think that money has gone now though is now too short a price for me to back in the potato. It wont be the first and certainly not the last time i do one in the wrong race but what's chances of a change of mind by connections?
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 January 3, 2016 11:05 PM GMT
I do have this Shantou Village though at 10s on the any race market after i betted him at 14s for Neptune so i have form of backing for insurance purposes but am not sure theres room for maneouvre with BH's price in the potato
Report Can't Catch Me January 4, 2016 7:55 AM GMT
I agree budd. Up For Review looks very exciting but Barters Hill is going to be a very tough nut to crack.
Report HaylingBilly January 4, 2016 8:23 AM GMT
SEATHESTARS - I reckon your only chance of Barters Hill running in the Neptune is the ground. If it comes up soft he might go Neptune. Other than that he looks a strong AB favourite.
Report mincer11 January 4, 2016 10:28 PM GMT
Two things here, Shantou Village is 100/1 to win any race at the festival.
Secondly Pauling should hand in his license if he doesnt run Barters Hill in the Neptune. If anyone else trained it that race wouldnt be even considered.
Report Can't Catch Me January 4, 2016 10:39 PM GMT
One thing here. If Cue Card won the King George, you were never posting again.
Report cufcno1 January 4, 2016 11:20 PM GMT
You took the words right out of my mouth ccm, everyone get their mortgage on barters hill to win the Albert Bartlett, mincer you put your esa on.
Report mincer11 January 5, 2016 10:16 AM GMT
Well i wasnt going to but seems that as we all know Cue Card should never have won in the first place, it would be foolish of me to retire.
Its not like it won on merit, so in effect i was correct, it was just pure lady luck that conspired against me.
Anyway now that's settled, i reitirate taht if Pauling doesnt run Barters Hill in the Neptune then to me it smacks of ineptness on his behaf and lack of self belief. Its a no brainer and no other top trainer would be even considering the rubbish 3m race. The last guy that made such decision was John joe and everyone knows what kind of outfit that is.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 January 5, 2016 10:20 AM GMT
mincer11 i would be the first guy in the queue on the BH - Neptune lobby but to say Cue Card didn't win the KG on merit is, well, laughable at the very least Laugh
Report mincer11 January 5, 2016 10:33 AM GMT
Seathestars, the faller would have won, and anyone who says otherwise is deluded.
There should be no need to lobby for the Neptune, the other race shouldnt even be on the radar.
It would be like Douvan going for the JLT , Un De Sceaux going Ryanair, Ivanovich Gorbatov going Fred Winter, complete nonsense.
On top of that Bass is a plug rider and is going to be a serious negative in whatever race he turns up in.
Report timtin January 5, 2016 10:50 AM GMT
similar to "full maximum bank lay" titles, posters don't mean to be taken seriously. At least it isn't the whip rules why CC shouldn't have won, I can kinda agree with Don but still thats guessing at best and also the position 1 is in CC's record.

@mincer Douvan and UDS won't stay past 2 and half and Ivano G would carry 12 stones in the Fred Winter, you're comparing three almost impossible tasks to an easy choice as BH stays AB trip very well and the Neptune could be very hot this year, I wouldn't blame any trainer/owner for taking the easier route to have that win under their belt.
Report mincer11 January 5, 2016 11:04 AM GMT
Barters Hill has never ran the Albert Bartlett trip , what are you talking about ? The Neptune could be very hot this year, the hottest horse in it would be either Bellshill or Barters Hill.
Barters Hill has beaten Bellshill , Altior and Beuver Dair at 2m, what is he going 3m for ?
Report delsie777 January 5, 2016 11:58 AM GMT
You may not like it - but he IS right.
Report delsie777 January 5, 2016 11:59 AM GMT
Why go for a race over a trip you're unproven at, against a machine like Up For Review when you have top class form at the Neptune trip?
Report baNjackst January 5, 2016 12:43 PM GMT
Did you watch first half of batters hill race, slow as a boat at his hurdles nearly got round first bend and he halves in price for AB. If the early part of his race at Cheltenham is similar he's a no hopper. There is no doubt he going the AB route don't let anyone fool you.
Report baNjackst January 5, 2016 12:45 PM GMT
*nearly didn't get round*
Report buddeliea January 5, 2016 12:52 PM GMT
Decent ground its Ab for Barters.
Soft ground then Neptune is a possibility.
Report Can't Catch Me January 5, 2016 12:53 PM GMT
There are WPM machines in every novice race though delsie.

I agree the AB looks the best race for Barters Hill and have backed him in that race. Looks all about stamina to me.
Report baNjackst January 5, 2016 12:59 PM GMT
Shantou Village looks like an airoplane never came off the snazz in two hurdle races. The second in each have both won twice since, has to be the best UK form by a long way. Visibly impressive and jumps well. If a Mr Mullins trained him he'd be unbackable.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 January 5, 2016 5:19 PM GMT
Not what you said though is it, if you posted that CC in your opinion was lucky to win the KG then no post from me or others would have been made about it. The fact you said on merit is being quite frankly disrespectful to the horse and connections. The old adage you got to jump to win is quite apt here imo Mischief

Whereever a horse runs is down to trainer and owners and we should respect them wishes and make a judgement call on whether or not it will carry our money, after all, us bettors of horses are on the very bottom tier as far as the politics of horse racing is concerned! I have backed BH for Neptune and feel that would be better race, if the horse runs in potato race i will just have to take it on the chin, weigh up my options (book on the race) and work out if there is any room for it or if i will just have to let it ride and hope it doesn't win
Report cufcno1 January 5, 2016 5:54 PM GMT
I've backed it to win the ab,just because of the comments I have heard,I think the horse us that good it would win both,up for review needs soft ground,as you say mincer it's beat bellshill already and would beat it again, but why come out with stupid comments.
