Can it be done? Yes.  Will it be done?

Contenders;  Coneygree, Don Cossack, Vautour, Don Poli, Silvianaco Conti.

Coneygree has the strongest claims IMO.  If it's soft then I'd fancy him to do it but trainer not keen on the King George and may start in the Hennessy. Don Cossack could do it but his Cheltenham form is not the best and 3m2f might be a push. Vautour looks like a Rolls Royce but has his stamina to prove. Don Poli I like but not keen on for the KG, that's just me.  Silvianaco Conti reportedly not going to Cheltenham, but would he if he won the first 2.  Having said that I couldn't fancy him for the Gold Cup.

Coral going 5/1 for it to be achieved, hilarious! I'd want at least double that price just for any of the above mentioned horses to turn up in all 3!
Report shockster October 13, 2015 12:12 PM BST
Here's a link to the prices.

yep, coneygree would have the best chance imo, but this is a real competitive division this season and will be bloody difficult to achieve.
Mind you if he jumps like he did in the gold cup and gets favourable ground he will be hard to beat in any race.
Possible improvement as well!!

Come on Cue Card!
Report jimeen November 25, 2015 5:32 PM GMT
The first leg being on in Haydock is the obvious stumbling block. Now the trainers may have not received enough notice this year, but whether they did or not, theres no denying that the chase course at Haydock is an absolute kip.
One time it was a fantastic track, but nowadays they have brush hurdles, moveable fences, bottomless ground, and a less galloping circuit.
All in all a khazi that wouldnt appeal to certainly any of the top Irish horses.
Report call it a day November 25, 2015 5:38 PM GMT
112 thousand reasons to get involved at Haydock. Certainly good enough for Kauto...
Report buddeliea November 25, 2015 5:52 PM GMT
Is that where Kauto got done by Snoopy Loopy?

Think it goes to show that however much money is involved, the top horses are looked after.

Was never gonna be won this season anyway, far too competitive for One horse to win all 3 races imo.
Report call it a day November 25, 2015 7:14 PM GMT
Well, if Cue Card wins at Kempton, which is by no means impossible, then it`s game on.
Report buddeliea November 25, 2015 7:30 PM GMT
Well he's won the easiest one, just the 2 left with the top horses involved.
But yes you are right,it will be game on.
Report mincer11 November 26, 2015 4:45 PM GMT
Cue Card is a million zillion to one to win the next two legs
Report The RealDeal November 26, 2015 8:05 PM GMT
I'll have a quid on at those odds then please.
Report mincer11 November 26, 2015 8:52 PM GMT
I wouldnt take your money, wouldnt have it on my concience.
Report BornToWin November 26, 2015 8:53 PM GMT
Cue Card certainly has a live chance in the next leg, the wind op seeming to have worked the oracle. I can see Vautour and maybe even Coneygree not turning up so that leaves DC and SC to beat unless a roughie pops up.

I thought he was brilliant at Haydock, breaking the heart of the dual King George hero Silvio.
Report mincer11 November 26, 2015 9:00 PM GMT
Cue Card has no chance in the world at kempton, he couldnt win it when he was a good young horse, hes hardly going to win it now.
Report BornToWin November 26, 2015 9:12 PM GMT
Well he is a best price of 5/1 best tell the bookie chaps mincer.

The forum is full of attention seekers assuring everyone of outcomes. They seem to fall flat on many, many occasions. We will see.
Report jasey November 27, 2015 2:51 PM GMT
I think the form of that Haydock race is worthless regarding the GC.The only thing that I took from the race is that CC is back to his best.He should have a pop at the KG but at the festival the Ryanair is the only race for CC.
Mind you if the KG is a similar field to last year then he really would have a chance of winning it.
Report call it a day November 29, 2015 1:54 PM GMT
Of course he has a chance of winning the KG...would have won half the track two years ago when probably affected by breathing problem. This year's line up should present few worries. And then, of course, the big one. Why are most writing off the possibility? He showed little signs of stopping over the 3  miles at Haydock. He just might get the trip. And of all contenders, what horse has a better record on course?
Report mincer11 November 29, 2015 4:14 PM GMT
He isnt a contender for either, he has just won a veterans chase in that kip Haydock. He wont be sighted at Kempton.
Report call it a day November 30, 2015 9:04 AM GMT
Tell us all about the horses that will beat him then. Bear in mind Coneygree is unlikely to make the gig.
Report buddeliea November 30, 2015 4:43 PM GMT
Depends how he is on the day I suspect.
If he's in rude health he's a big chance. But even without Coneygree,he still has Don Cossack to beat who is too drawer, plus we have the unknown
With Vautour, who literally could be anything at 3m.
Silly to dismiss CC whatever after his last performance. I am still dubious about the form with Conti and the likes of Dynaste, but As a mate of mine pointed out to me,it could well be that it's a simple case of whether Cue Card is fit and Weli, going on to say that in his opinion when he's on his day he's as good as any horses around.
Food for thought!!
Report call it a day November 30, 2015 6:33 PM GMT
Yes, DC  serious problem if he turns up. Not impressed by Vatour last time out, feel he will be found out at the top level. Any other British trained in the mix?
Report mincer11 November 30, 2015 7:01 PM GMT
Call it a day, are you for real ?. Vautour will be found out at the top level, he only won the supreme novices and JLT by half the track.
In the latter race he beat multiple grade 1 winners by a hundred yards under a hand ride.
If Cue Card beats Vautour then in will retire, hes a veteran chaser pure and simple, thats what he is.
Report call it a day December 1, 2015 5:58 PM GMT
Mincer,
When the horse wins a few grade one chases perhaps we can start to talk about it in the same breath as Cue Card. And learning to jump straight when under pressure might also be a pre requisite if it is to win some proper chases. Don't forget that Cue Card not so long ago was the only horse capable of giving SS a race when he was at his imperious best.
Report mincer11 December 1, 2015 6:28 PM GMT
Dont forget call it a day that if Vautuor met Sprinter Sacre tomotrrow over 2m 4f anywhere, he'd be 2's on to beat him and would do so by half the track. He is already a wide margin winner of a top class Grade 1 at the festival. In his pomp Cue Card wouldnt have been up to beating Vautour not to mind when he's a veteran.
Report call it a day December 1, 2015 6:48 PM GMT
Vatour beat a few winners of egg and spoons in Ireland and the mighty Ptit Zigg.  At Ascot the horse again beat PZ but by a seriously reduced distance. It has also been smashed by Clarcam...not a bad horse, but not top class. Vatour has potential but let's wait until it beats a few proper chasers in Grade ones before proclaiming it top class. And of course, at respective ages, Vatour would not have been within hailing distance of SS.
Report cufcno1 December 1, 2015 7:03 PM GMT

Vautours novice chase win is up there with the best I've ever seen at a festival . Mind blowing , he will need to prove himself outside of novice company though.
Report duffy December 1, 2015 11:15 PM GMT
Let's not get silly here, let's debate about Vautour being susceptible over 3 miles, fair enough, let's debate about him being susceptible right handed fair enough, but pound for pound let's not debate about him being top class or not, he's clearly that, for me he's the best horse in training.
Report call it a day December 2, 2015 7:22 PM GMT
A horse that scrambles home from Ptit Zigg is the best horse in training. Really?
Report timtin December 2, 2015 8:25 PM GMT
Vautour is the best chaser novice from last season over 2m5f; over 2m he wasn't the best novice, over 3m he wasn't the best novice. Vautour has a lot to find in open company but the feeling is he'll be able to improve to that level, the question is will he stay 3 miles and with Coneygree and Don Cossack around is he the best over 3 miles? I doubt it at the moment. What makes him the best horse in training?

I'd argue Faugheen is the best/talented horse in training, a point to pointer that stays 3 miles who won a Champion hurdle and who has the scope of winning a Gold cup if sent chasing, what other horse has that potential? Kauto star and Sprinter Sacre weren't good enough hurdlers so you'd have to go even further back in time to find a horse as talented as Faugheen who can do stuff that he wasn't bred to.
Report BornToWin December 2, 2015 9:26 PM GMT
mincer you keep calling CC a veteran, he has HAD A WIND OP which seems to have worked. Like someone has mentioned, he was hacking all over SC 2 years ago in the King George, only to empty instantly.

His last 2 wins pretty much put him in the form of his life, and should be fav for the King George imo.
Report mincer11 December 2, 2015 10:56 PM GMT
Well call it a day , time may prove me wrong but I think your opinion is a pile of shiite and we will know soon enough if they all turn up.
My opinion is that Cue Card will beat neither Vautour or Don Cossack. If Cue Card wins the King George I will never post again .

Perhaps the O'Learys will offer Cue Card's connections a million pound bonus if he wins the Ryanair - that'll make the Gold Cup easier for the 2 Dons!
Report call it a day January 4, 2016 8:09 PM GMT
Stick the two Dons in the 4 miler. One of them could just win that.
Report buddeliea January 4, 2016 9:57 PM GMT
Don Cossack will be a big threat,I would be pretty confident of that.

Have to say I am surprised we have a horse going for the treble, never thought it was likely with the competitiveness in this division this season.
So hats off to connections of Cue Card, they went for Haydock when no other Gold Cup contender(sorry conti!!) bothered.
Now they have a real chance of a million bonus, and to be honest I think they have a major chance of pulling it off.
The horse is a real stayer now he can travel so well and he's over his problem with the breathing.
He still has a tough race to win of course, but of all the contenders his form this season is right up there.

Call it a day....hats off to you as well.
Report call it a day January 5, 2016 7:14 PM GMT
Thanks Budd. As you might remember I have been a huge fan since the bumper at Fontwell.....Perhaps too much to ask for the dream to come true!
Report buddeliea February 12, 2016 7:29 AM GMT
Well getting nearer to history.
Be so great if Cue Card can do it.
He's got the best form this season,so no reason why not as far as he is concerned, but got some good rivals to beat.

My view is he can do it,but I would hope Don Poli is not too near him up that hill!!

Be very fitting, the only horse in the same postcode as the Black Aeroplane in his pomp comes to conquer his Everest also at age 10.

I'm fully buying into this now.
