Backed for the Ryanair.
Report one4theroad40 March 5, 2015 8:22 PM GMT
so is he going to run in the ryanair instead??
Report traveltips March 5, 2015 8:27 PM GMT
Wylie mentioned the possibility in one of the preview nights
Report delsie777 March 5, 2015 8:33 PM GMT
Patrick M said it was 'under consideration' on the podcast. Money says he is - 8/1 with Paddy!

Picked out on Patrick Mullins Racing Post Q&A
If the ground is proper good : Boston Bob
Report Arklearkle March 5, 2015 8:44 PM GMT
There is a big possibility that he runs Ryanair
Report one4theroad40 March 5, 2015 8:46 PM GMT
i think he would win the ryanair
Report Graeme83 March 5, 2015 8:48 PM GMT
A punchestown gold cup winner running over shorter distance to suit ruby.  Wylie and ricci are a pair of pushovers. As for vautour, he ain't no gold cup either. He really ought to be in the arkle. BB must be training well. It's just a pitty Walsh gets his way all of the time.
Report Slabster March 5, 2015 8:57 PM GMT
Have to disagree with you in this particular case Graeme, although with other horses I might agree. Boston Bob is a Melling Chase winner and a Punchestown Gold Cup winner, both on good ground. He swept to the front in an RSA and won a Moriarty over 2m 5f. I'm not sure he's the dour out and out stayer he's made out to be. I think he'd have a better chance in the Ryanair.
Report Hussard March 5, 2015 8:59 PM GMT
Agree Graeme83. Wylie has the breaking strain of a kit kat letting this pair run BB here just so Ruby has a ride. Same with Vautour, at least O'Leary has a mind of his own pays the bills and calls the shots,

agree with slabster.drop back in trip shouldnt be a problem.ryanair looks a winnable race this year with horses stepping up from handicaps.hes a single figure price in that field in my view.
Report ReaseHeath March 5, 2015 9:03 PM GMT
beaten by the likes of Rajdhani Express and Hunt Ball in last year's Ryanair and now 10yo.

just saying...
Report one4theroad40 March 5, 2015 9:04 PM GMT
townend a way better jockey than ruby...and a nice guy too...he doesnt answer back questions like we know nothing
Report thelegend March 5, 2015 9:05 PM GMT
i think the horse was only on the way back from back problems last year
Report penzance March 5, 2015 9:10 PM GMT
beat in the Ryan Air last year, thought
he is more a gold cup horse, myself.
Would have gone close in the RSA but
for falling at the last. Lord Windermere
went on to win the GC.
Report ReaseHeath March 5, 2015 9:10 PM GMT
don't know anything about the back problems but the run in the Cleeve six weeks prior to the Festival probably would n't have helped him show his best.

He won well at Aintree and Punchestown but look at the horses he beat...(for the most part, there are odd exceptions but they both look pretty weak Grade 1s to me.

Although s'pose you could argue the Ryanair is n't shaping like a strong race either.
Report thelegend March 5, 2015 9:14 PM GMT
exactly Reaseheath.the ryanair isnt that strong this year and while don cossack has a favourites chance surely the gap in the prices with boston bob is too big.
Report Graeme83 March 5, 2015 9:20 PM GMT
Fair enough slabster, but as a djakadam backer i'm glad BB is out of the way. It wasn't a vintage meiling, and i think he would have won the rsa. The punchestown gold cup is over 3m1f. On good ground he'd have a shout on the Friday, in my opinion.  To me this is about them putting jockey before horse again. Champagne fever ought to be in the ryanair, boston bob in the gold cup and vautour in the arkle. If they all scoot up i will be tit of the century !
Report sintonian March 5, 2015 9:21 PM GMT
Can always place a £5 treble, Graeme, then you'd be a rich tit.
Report SoYouThink March 5, 2015 9:24 PM GMT
A few horses heading for the Ryanair now, e.g. Hidden Cyclone, Boston Bob, Foxrock, happens every year .... the race is a mixum-gatherum every year ... horses within a few pounds of another thinking it's an easier opportunity than the CC or GC.
Report Hussard March 5, 2015 9:24 PM GMT
I am on both Djakadam and Bob for the GC. I fully agree with you Graeme83 this is not about the horse. Ruby is wanting a ride in each race. Hopefully Cooper will be top jockey and beat a good few of the horses which are running in races to suit Ruby rather than for the horses best interests.
Report ReaseHeath March 5, 2015 9:26 PM GMT
I would n't argue with that legend but you could also make an argument that the discrepancy between BB and Hunt Ball and RE is much too big also.

Although connections had a mad plan to get RE qualified for the National last I heard.

Hunt Ball's one run at Cheltenham since last year's Festival might look really good after the JLT.
Report penzance March 5, 2015 9:28 PM GMT
the race is just as strong as last year.
Hidden Cyclone running,2nd,plus Don Cossack,
Ma Filleule and not to mention Balder Succes.
Report Graeme83 March 5, 2015 9:30 PM GMT
Grin sint. I would put that bet on if i wasn't a broke tit !
Report ReaseHeath March 5, 2015 9:34 PM GMT
BB Ryanair prices are eye catching - 8/1 Paddy, 25/1 Billy Hills Shocked
