no pacemakers in champion hurdle ?

Think kitten rock might be given that task now mate! I think it will be fast run anyway and can see even the new one make it as Sam knows a slow run race won't suit as faugheen would out run him in a sprint! And even chuck bertimont would go on and try and nick a few places up the finish positions like the way he did the last time when he nearly beat the new one! All ifs and buts, but defo don't see it being slow run

Btw I'm much more in favour backing jezki for a place than faugheen the win!

i'm hoping paddy might be at his generous best on monday afternoon, i'm looking at jezki as an ew bet to nothing.
jezki had the pace to travel with my tent last year and the stamina to see him off up the hill, i have my doubts about the new one being able to travel down the hill when the pace really quickens,

I can't see TNO making the pace. His biggest weapon is his change of pace.

I agree bonnie I see the new one getting outpaced between the last 2 then running on like mad same as last year! The new one is fast but he seems to take a bit to long to hit top speed! I would certainly think jezki and faugheen will quicken more then him and get away enough to make the gap to much for the new one to reel them in! I think the new one has to do a big bucks and take it up just about 2-3 out to try hit top gear and get the rest on the back foot! If it comes to a sprint between the last 2 and the finish line I will be surprised if the new one wins! I have also been wrong before lol

The only possible pacemaker I can see in the race is Kitten Rock and that is by no means a given. We are simply trying to make an assumption that because JP has 2 horses in the race and Jezki will suit a fast paced race that he will instruct Kitten Rock to make the running. He did do it successfully last season with Captain Cee Bee though and I would see it as the most likely tactic employed by JP. The alternative would be to allow Faugheen and Walsh dictate the pace on Faugheen just like he did last season but which I can't imagine any of the main contenders would want, as Walsh is the master of judging pace.

Why would Bertimont do the pacemaking for another horse to the detriment of his own race?

i know he isnt an out and out frontrunner but in this race i think they might just try it given the march they stole over the new one at haydock

Jezki might just take it on himself,like at  Puchestown last year.

Faugheen

Last year Captain Cee Bee ran to accommodate My Tent or Yours who had a reputation of pulling hard. It just so happened the way the race panned out, Jezki handled the pace well.

He seemed to manage fine at Punchestown in a 3 runner field and maybe that's the way they are thinking. I do think that end to end gallop brought out the best in him last year and I think similar would be required here to give him his best chance.

I would be sure Kitten Rock will run on his merits and is not there to be sacrificed. EJOG thinks a lot of him and surely wouldn't be happy to have a promising horse sacrificed like that.

I assume with Bertimont and Vaniteux left in at the 6 day stage that they are intended runners? My gut feeling now is that Faugheen might end up leading.

Ruby is also a master from the front ... I know the same used to be said of Frankie Dettori on the flat especially in Dubai, and I think Ruby seems to have a knack for getting it right in the lead too.

Almost certain Faugheen makes it tbh.
