Nb have backed Dynaste at 33s and more for Gold Cup just in case heads that way.
|
By:
I think a lot will hinge on Sprinter Sacre's return. If he bombs out you can expect a couple of these to go down the Champion Chase route.
Dynaste ran a good race in the George and should get involved here. Don Cossack was travelling really well in last seasons RSA when tipping up and has looked in good form with himself this season. Cue Card, as much as I love him is finished. Taquin De Seuil won last years novice race despite a poor round of jumping. Thought if he could iron out those mistakes he could be a good horse this season but he looks even worse. I think this race could potentially cut up and won't take much winning. |
By:
Balder Success won nicely today but looks as though he needs things to go his own way and wouldn't be surprised to see him wait for Aintree.
|
By:
Ballycasey could be of interest at big odds if given the go ahead.
Had every chance in the RSA before not getting home as well as the front two. So we know he acts on the track and if Champagne goes the two mile route it should allow him to take his chance here. |
By:
I've backed don Cossack think he deff be aimed at this race and looks a better animal this season and will go off a lot shorter than he is at min
|
By:
Uxizandre, Champagne Fever and Cue Card on my radar for this.
|
By:
Dynaste has great chance obviously, but is not a price I'd back at.
|
By:
Uxizandre should be in the queen Mum I would think, Dynaste worthy fav and to me looks most likely winner, but agree re price at this stage
|
By:
Actually Uxizandre is probably one of a few that will be dependant on the well being of the top two in the QM betting.
Its clear to me that he could be in either race, but I do feel hes a strong finisher at 2m and only just gets Ryanair distance.Thought he was the best horse in the JLT but got done on the run in,i think that would happen in the Ryanair. |
By:
Was really impressed with John Spirit's run in the PP but at 5/1 Dynaste looks eachway steal really. Would be surprised if there are 3 horses to beat him.
|
By:
This looks like being a good race imo, not sure why people are saying it's weak.
Think it's finally time for me to give up on Cue Card tbh. Champagne Fever would be the one for me if this was the target (which it should be). |
By:
Agree Benjy re Champagne Fever big danger to all, let him front run,ran too free in King George under restraint. Big price re Cheltenham record if showing?
|
By:
If you can let Menorah off with his King George run, I reckon he's a big price at 25's. No Gold Cup entry, so this must be the target.
Don't think there's too much quality in the line up at the moment, but it looks properly competitive. Quite a lot of failed 3 milers and second season novices who haven't done anything so far this season. |
By:
I'd be interested in Djakadam, as we all know he was still going well in the JLT when falling down and for one reason or another didn't finish his race off well enough in the Hennessy.....having said that, if you take a favourable view to how he was travelling in the JLT then he could be a bit of a handicap snip in something like the Byrne Group Plate if CF is headed for the Ryanair.
|
By:
Didnt see todays race yet, what are peoples opinion on it, Fever back to 2 miles?
|
By:
Fever jumped really well till the last, maybe getting tired better ground at Cheltenham will suit.
|
By:
Until he fell at the last C. Fever jumped well and better than Don Cossack, however I believe DC had got to him by the last and would have gone past him and won quite comfortably (we'll never actually know). Also DC was giving him 2lb and can't see any reason for CF to turn this form around. Having said all of that CF does act around Cheltenham and this is not a proven fact for Don Cossack. Therefore I would chance the Ryanair for CF especially if Sprinter Sacre shows his well being at Ascot tomorrow as there's not a cat in hells chance of beating an on song Sprinter.
|
By:
Is Dynaste the bet now at 5/1,now almost certain to go Ryanair again.
|
By:
Dynaste out for the season. I've had a tickle on Ballynagour at 33/1 EW as Pipes only other entry. He was very good in the HCP last year after a similar break and being aimed at the race.
|
By:
Shame Dynaste is out. Unlucky for his backers. Ballycasey, Uxizandre are the ones I'm on for this. Would love it if both ran.
|
By:
Hoping there's a slight chance this could bring my champagne fever bet back into play.
|
By:
Hopefully Chief who knows decent price Fever if heading here?Race a lot weaker without Dynaste and maybe Al Ferof. Will wait for nr no bet as done my dough on Dynaste.
|
By:
You'd be pretty sure they'll send Ballycasey to this race given he ran superb for 2m6f in RSA, while Champ Fever would have the better 2 mile record. But who knows, they could decide that they'd rather have a favourites chance in this with CF than two 4th favs in both this and Champ Chase.
|
By:
Bad luck for my TTF lists with Dynaste out. Ballycasey doesn't look as talented as CF, so if Ricci actually wants to try his best to win one of these races rather than have runners in each race as somekind of vanity project then CF should run here.
|
By:
I've backed Ballycasey for this race, but I do agree with you Sint. If I owned both I'd run Champ Fever here and throw Ballycasey into the Plate, make all. Forget the Champ Chase, go for 2 wins rather than 2 places.
|
By:
Lads are not quoting CF for the Ryanair atm.
|
By:
Fever is 8/1 nr no bet if you can get any money on Spoilsports.
|
By:
Al Ferof out for festival.
|
By:
Race cutting up badly, would defo run Fever in this now.
|
By:
Me too!
|
By:
CF really hardened in the QMCC market now, so I'm back to writing off my Ryanair bet on him.
Shame because I think he'd have a much better chance in the latter. 6/1 for a QMCC when his last 2m win was 2 years ago? I get his 2m record at HQ, but the bumpers is a stayers race and as I say, his Supreme was 2 years ago, and Dodging Bullets has improved massively so I expect him to turn the Arkle form round. Anyways, I'm opening up old wounds - it's QMCC and I'll just have to accept that!! |
By:
Based on early season form hasn't menorah got a cracking chance in this race ...25/1 at lads
![]() |
By:
Think he's one for a tight flat track and always seems to run best on those, not at Cheltenham over fences.
|
By:
Just going thru race last hour, confusing the say the least,
need to back something since Dynaste not going. Horses that ran in King George have very good record, so the curse may fall on Johns Spirit, though this is run on new course, his form on old course. Caid Du Berlais would be of interest as well at 40/1, maybe Nicholls only runner. |
By:
Caid Du Berlais I think still has a good h/c mark and could go for the 3m h/c chase on Day 1 instead.
Tbh I'd run Ptit Zig in this race, the JLT looks a far tougher race. |
By:
Caid Du Berlais rated 151 now CV,too high for handicaps.
This race is only one he can go for imo, most probably not good enough but not too much class left re Dynaste and AF falling by wayside. Champagne Fever have backed to win any race, think he would nearly win this if heading this way,but looks like Champion Chase. |
By:
The Ryanair easier than the JLT now!

By:
I haven't given up on Ma Filleule and think she might be aimed at this.......... Loved her performances last spring and hope she comes back to that sort of form.
The other one I have backed and as long as he isn't 'gone at the game' is Cue Card, 7/1 is more than fair given this is his target, better ground suits and this is over his best distance! |
By:
Champagne Fever entered in the Ascot chase over 2m5f and the Red Mills over 2m4f, so maybe all not lost.
Agree with CV on this. JLT with Vautour, Apache, Ptit Zig, Valseur Lido and Gilgamboa is a stronger list than Don Cossack, Cue Card, Johns Spirit and Balder Succes. JLT is a better race. |
