Very nice performance today and arguably purely on merit he should be favourite for the Supreme. Henderson is building a nice team for Cheltenham as are the owners.

Henderson has trained the last 4 seconds.....he deserves to get a Supreme winner !
Report onehundredandeighty January 3, 2015 3:03 PM GMT
Did NH say if this would run again b4 Chelters or straight there? I missed most of the interview
Report SoYouThink January 3, 2015 3:07 PM GMT
He said it'll go straight there
Report TheCollector January 3, 2015 3:10 PM GMT
I can't have this at all for a Supreme.

0/6 in France. Won a mickey mouse there and time before was probably gonna get turned over by a horse that would get hammered in a Supreme.
Report onehundredandeighty January 3, 2015 3:15 PM GMT
Cheers yeah in with you collector,it'll be a pink button from me
Report Can't Catch Me January 3, 2015 3:19 PM GMT
No idea how he could be made fav tbh.

Biggest worry is obviously the ground.
Report vinnie_roe January 3, 2015 3:54 PM GMT
A key trend - Twelve out of the last thirteen winners have raced at least once in the previous forty-five days before the Cheltenham Festival.
Report Joist January 3, 2015 3:54 PM GMT
When you look at the head of the market, it's absolutely no surprise to me that he's nearly fav. What else definitely turns up? You can't be sure about any of the Mullins runners then it's Jollyallan and Silver Concorde.
Report sintonian January 3, 2015 3:55 PM GMT
That is the only thing putting me off backing him. The horse would need a prep run.
Report sintonian January 3, 2015 3:56 PM GMT
Agree Joist...mot much in the market ....at the moment.
Report sintonian January 3, 2015 3:56 PM GMT
* not
Report Joist January 3, 2015 3:58 PM GMT
Silver Concorde the value for me if still being aimed here after his Christmas defeat, can't find anything from post-race regarding his plans now though.
Report festivalfanatic January 3, 2015 4:05 PM GMT
Won well enough though the 2nd should be a 50/1 chance for the Supreme, so we shouldn't get carried away. Ground was pretty desperate today but I think the horse would be better for good ground, based on his breeding. His best run in England was probably his debut at Newbury, so maybe Nicky wants to take him to the Festival fresh?
Report CVByrne January 3, 2015 4:14 PM GMT
Very good performance today, especially given how well Harrys horses are running. Horse didn't like the ground either I don't think.

Should be fav for Supreme imo.
Report shockster January 3, 2015 4:16 PM GMT
He did all that was asked of him today. At Newbury he hammered Kilcooley off levels and he's rated 155 now!!!! Not worried about the prep as Henderson can get them ready and he has the french experience. Good chance in my book.
Report TheCollector January 3, 2015 6:03 PM GMT
Gonna get stuck right into this on the pink. Frys horse today would get mullered in the Supreme.
Report unclepuncle January 3, 2015 7:10 PM GMT
7/1 seems fair enough to me, if it was nrnb I'd be lumping on with a view to lay off on the day.

The Delloite Hurlde may yet throw up a new favourite if one of Mullins wins impressively, like Vautour last year, but even then L'AS will surely be clear 2nd fav. Looks a very weak English crop of 2m novices that's for sure.
Report stevo1 January 3, 2015 7:51 PM GMT

good luck collector!!!
Report buddeliea January 3, 2015 8:14 PM GMT
Don't win the race very often does Hendo.
Think he has better juveniles than this one, one of them should run imo.
Report shockster January 3, 2015 8:17 PM GMT
Hendo said in his interview, as long as this horse is sound "No 4 year olds will run". He seemed very bullish!!
Report stevo1 January 3, 2015 8:19 PM GMT
Budd you suggesting Triumph winner to run ?
Report CVByrne January 3, 2015 8:21 PM GMT
Jesus the Supreme is dire this year. What Mullins runs 3? one for JP, one for Wylies, one fr Ricci and Hendo has Munirs ones.
Report buddeliea January 3, 2015 8:25 PM GMT
I know what he said, dont mean I agree.
Think both peace and co and Top Notch would be serious threats in the Supreme with the allowance.
Why not run one in the race, both look well capable of winning the Triumph and their biggest danger is probably the owners horse trained by NTD,so owner aint got much to lose and a lot to gain by having 2 in the Supreme imo,as he would also have 1st and 2nd favs in the Triumph!!
Report shockster January 3, 2015 8:25 PM GMT
Could easily be a small field CV???
Report stevo1 January 3, 2015 8:28 PM GMT
What is going to beat Lami? Nothing apart from stablemate or maybe Mullins Horse, but CV knows?
Report SoYouThink January 3, 2015 8:35 PM GMT
Munir said some of his juveniles will wait for Aintree so I'd be wary of backing his for the Triumph.
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 8:45 PM GMT
L'ami serge isn't the easiest to keep sound, Just saying don't go all in any who like his chances.
Report buddeliea January 3, 2015 8:46 PM GMT
If ever their was a year for running a top juvenile in the Supreme this is it.Race has no stand out good thing that I can see
Be a shame if an owner that has 4 decent ones did not run 1 of them in the Supreme imo
Report stevo1 January 3, 2015 8:47 PM GMT
Gut where did you hear that has run 3 times in last 6 weeks!!!
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 8:49 PM GMT
Just people in racing Steve, Has gone lame a few times of late fortunately he has been fit enough to not be hampered by a few days off here and there, it's why they are resting him until the big day now.
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 8:51 PM GMT
I didn't back today as was lame wednesday/thursday of this week, Thought he was a good thing but played it safe just in case.
Report stevo1 January 3, 2015 8:51 PM GMT
Must be decent then lol!
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 8:53 PM GMT
Very lol, probably just knocks himself at home, Might even be a bit of a fairy about it like some are but do know it's something they've had a few times with him since he arrived.
Report wellchief January 3, 2015 8:53 PM GMT
Spirit Son and Sprinter didn't really enter the Supreme reckoning until February, Gilgamboa was late on the scene last year, so I'm hoping there might be one more to come to the fore yet.

Douvan looks like no slouch considering the horse he brushed aside won a G1 next time out.

I think there could be a few twists yet.
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 8:57 PM GMT
Not even had a bet yet in it myself Chief, Just haven't seen one that gave me that wow factor yet.

Bit of a childish dig stevo.

Blimey almost went 10 replies without a Mullins horse being mentioned,is a average race at moment but think may have seen winner today? But race stats against it .
Report wellchief January 3, 2015 9:02 PM GMT
Same here mate. Last few years I have always had a decent sized bet in this race but none at all for me at all.

Last few runnings at this stage I have been on Darlan, My Tent or Yours and Vautour. If only we had one of those in it this year.

I accept My Tent getting beat, but I'll never know how Cinders and Ashes managed to beat Darlan.
Report Can't Catch Me January 3, 2015 9:05 PM GMT
Douvan looks the stand out candidate for me so far. As wellchief alludes to, he also has by far the most solid form in the book to my eyes.

Just another with ground questions to answer like is so often the case.
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 9:08 PM GMT
Was on Trifolium myself WC, Thought MTOY was good value in place market that year but always felt he was weak in a finish, How Cinders won I'll never know.
It's not a race I tend to do well in so as it stands I may wait till the day now, Thought Max Dynamite could be worth a bet but looked well wrong behind lto so I'd not touch him now.
Report CVByrne January 3, 2015 9:13 PM GMT
Understandable CCM, Mullins horses in the novice hurdles have been big earners in recent years.

Allez Colobieres was their big one for this though. Who sadly died. If Nicholls Canyon runs poor nto it's possible Shaneshill could run here? Douvan for Neptune instead and Sempre Medici in supreme for Ricci.

Who knows tbh. But the level of novice hurdlers Mullins has now is a bit crazy. In fact almost all his winners in recent years have been over hurdles.
Report wellchief January 3, 2015 9:14 PM GMT
Jollyallan is probably one at a price that I like but Harry Fry in no rush to commit him to the Supreme or Neptune.

Would have to improve his jumping a fair bit though.
Report Can't Catch Me January 3, 2015 9:16 PM GMT
Yes I'm on Nichols Canyon and still think he will run a decent race... And go for the Supreme. But was quite taken with Douvan.
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 9:20 PM GMT
Would agree with you there Chief.

One I have on the back burner who I hope goes unnoticed (So I post it here lol, Forgive me I'm charitable and a bit drunk) for a handicap is Shantou Bob, Not a big fan of Greatrex  as he tends to work them very hard at home but this is one who has ability, Fletchers Flyer & Tara Point count among his victims and the Vyta du Roc form could prove to be smart, He seems to have not been picked up on anywhere which suits me.
Report CVByrne January 3, 2015 9:25 PM GMT
I'd imagine Jollyallen would step up for Neptune and Alvisio Ville would go for Supreme. Frank Berry will decide that with AP and JP you'd imagine.

I think they might go betfair hurdle next with Jollyallan off 149 same as My Tent or Yours was when he won.
Report gutfeeling January 3, 2015 9:30 PM GMT
See how Free expression gets on tomorrow as JP doesn't have much for the opener and Jollyallen might be his best hope there at this stage.
Report Can't Catch Me January 3, 2015 9:34 PM GMT

Report wellchief January 3, 2015 9:42 PM GMT
Probably right alleged, but as others have said, probably won't have the same quality opposition that MTOY had.
Report Can't Catch Me January 3, 2015 9:58 PM GMT
Lovely big strapping grey gutfeeling. Some engine on him... Sure we will be talking about him in the 2016 Arkle thread!!
Report CVByrne January 3, 2015 10:27 PM GMT
MTOY off 149, that was hilarious how well in he was. But almost all novices win that race anyway. Jollyallan will be a serious chaser next season. He'd want to be given how much he cost. I was never told who Paul Nicholls buyer was who wanted to buy him and "keep him" with Harry.

Still, could be soft ground at Newbury, Jollyallan really needs further than 2 miles, can run well now he's had his 3 hurdle runs.
Report SoYouThink January 3, 2015 10:28 PM GMT
Mullins has so many contenders for the novices alright. How he's going to split them will be guesswork right up until the week of the Festival although I have my own inclinations.

He'll run one of them in the Moscow Flyer Hurdle at Punchestown next weekend, Alvisio Ville, Shaneshill or Nichols Canyon.

On the Irish racing website there is an article with quotes from Mullins saying Douvan runs in a Listed race in Punchestown at the end of the month which a quick look at the fixtures would seem it'll be the same race Wicklow Brave won last year.

This would also seem to rule him out of the Deloitte which is the following week which would then make me question why Douvan isn't getting a chance in a higher grade of race? I can only imagine how much more confusing it would be if Allez Colombieres hadn't be so unfortunate :(
Report Can't Catch Me January 3, 2015 10:34 PM GMT
Yep, it's genuinely staggering that they have lost the stables number one horse for the race, and the three I fancy most, are still the WPM runners!

I think Douvan, Alvisio Ville and Nichols Canyon look his nailed on three for the race.
Report Joist January 4, 2015 1:09 PM GMT
Other than the fact that JP also has Alvisio Ville for the Supreme so could re-route Jollyallan to the Neptune, I'm baffled to hear that Jollyallan wants a trip at this point in his career.

He's looked very speedy to me so far and has won all of his novice hurdles by being last off the bridle, most recently being too quick for ex-flat beast Sempre Medici. 2m perfect at the moment imo, and Harry Fry said after Kempton, "he'll stick to the two mile trip over hurdles."
Report Can't Catch Me January 4, 2015 1:11 PM GMT
Yep I think he will be in the Supreme with AV. Free expression looks JP's Neptune horse...
Report unclepuncle January 4, 2015 1:19 PM GMT
Having lumped on Shaneshill for the Neptune after his last run I fully expect he will run in the Delloite (2m2f trip will be prefect) and then go for the Supreme.Cry

I think Shaneshill ran into an above average rival last time, on ground softer than ideal.

I think the Neptune is definitely still his race.  Probably won't reoppose No More Heroes as they'll go different distances, but if they met over 2.5m again but on good ground, I'd fully expect Shaneshill to turn the form round.

Hopefully the defeat of Tell Us More makes Shaneshill the Mullins first string for the Neptune.Devil

Yeah was my bad, sometimes hard to know mate, typed words come off different sometimes depending how you read them. Grin
Report CVByrne January 4, 2015 9:30 PM GMT
To answer your question, I've no idea re Mullins Supreme. They were all mad for Allez Columbieres. So his death means whatever runs is 2nd best. Douvan would 100% be in the Neptune had Allez not died.

Gun to head I'd say Alvisio Ville.
Report CVByrne January 4, 2015 9:33 PM GMT
But then again top class horses can win over either 2m or 2m5f

TNO, Faugheen, Vautour, Champagne Fever all could have won over either trip. So Douvan could easily be good enough for either. But he's very short.
Report Wicketd January 5, 2015 7:08 PM GMT
apparently done enough to win an 'average' renewal. i absolutely hate that statement with a passion. cue card and mtoy had also 'done enough' to win last 10 runnings or whatever it was

I also think Alvilio Ville is very good but so is Jollyallen.
