i've just chucked a bit at Zarkandar, apparently an improved animal this season, STD needs to hold onto him for much longer than he did at Ascot tho. Opposition doesn't appear great
Annie Power will run in the Mares. She will never run in the W.H without a prep run. Mullins always takes the easy races when available to win and this will be no different.
Hopefully she goes novice chasing next year and fulfills her enormous potential.

he was absolutely cantering turning in but as soon as he saw annie on his outside he kicked the horse into overdrive to ensure she didnt get first run
race winning decision imo

thought briar hill would have won if stood up yesterday, at least it ran with a lot more promise, think 25s nrnb is well worth a few quid in what is for me the weakest world hurdle I can remember.

Yeah I felt Briar Hill would have got up or gone close, he's one who will just do enough to win. He shaped with much more promise. But another fall will surely have wrecked his confidence. It took him ages to get over his last one.

Any chance Briar Hill goes Coral Cup? Think 2.5m is his trip.
Appreciate winning off 152 or a bit higher (doesn't UK handicapper normally add a few lbs on?) will be tough, but think he could be a fair bit better than that.

Zarkandar split them a bit.

More Of That is "very much odds against" running in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival on March 12, according to regular jockey Tony McCoy. Jonjo O'Neill's seven-year-old defeated top Irish mare Annie Power in the race last season, when ridden by Barry Geraghty, but was comprehensively beaten upon his return to action at Newbury in November and has not run since. The JP McManus-owned More Of That also bled after exercise last week to leave connections chasing the clock in order to prove his fitness for the Festival. McCoy blogged on www.thejockeyclub.co.uk: "Sadly, More Of That bled in his work last week, which is hugely disappointing. "Whether he gets back in the given time is very much odds against at the moment." The 19-times champion jockey snubbed More Of That in preference for At Fishers Cross in last season's World Hurdle, but he could only finish third. Rebecca Curtis' stayer has struggled this term, with McCoy distinctly nonplussed by his no-show at Haydock last Saturday. He said: "At Fishers Cross ran deplorably bad at Haydock over the weekend - that is the only way of describing it - and he is long way off being a World Hurdle contender at the moment." Paul Nicholls is happy with Zarkandar, who finished fourth last year, and Saphir Du Rheu in what he believes is an open year. "Zarkandar is in really good form," the Ditcheat handler told At The Races. "He won the French Champion Hurdle then ran really well at Ascot. "Saphir won the Cleeve, which is always a good trial, and is an improving horse. It's a very open race. "We've trained Zarkandar particularly just for this race. We haven't run him all year to keep him fresh and he's in good form. "I think both horses have got big chances."

MORE OF THAT may yet defend his Ladbrokes World Hurdle crown next month, with positive test results giving connections sufficient encouragement to leave making a final decision until as late as possible.
The seven-year-old's participation at the Cheltenham Festival was thrown into serious doubt earlier this month as it emerged he had burst a blood vessel following a piece of work.
The timing of the setback left trainer Jonjo O'Neill suggesting the World Hurdle would come too soon, but Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus issued a more upbeat bulletin on Friday. He said:"More Of That's test results came back good today and we are all very happy with the horse at home.
"If things continue like they are we think it is only fair to give the horse every chance of getting to Cheltenham to try and follow up his win in last year's World Hurdle.
"So as things stand we will understandably be leaving any final decision on the horse's participation until the last possible moment."
Last season's length and a half defeat of Annie Power in the World Hurdle left More Of That unbeaten in five career starts, but he lost that record when only third to Medinas on his seasonal reappearance in the bet365 Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury in November.
Since Newbury More Of That has undergone a wind operation, and is still challenging for World Hurdle favouritism with Saphir Du Rheu and Zarkandar at a best-priced 6-1.

Thought they said he did..........ah,think I get it!!
Stuff all that, horse been rubbish on the track this season, and not been seen since,i just cannot be backing a horse on that. If the stables up to something,so be it. Think I would rather miss a winner to be honest.

I'm with you Budd. Can't have him. Was at Newbury and the vibes around were bad. He drifted and never really looked like winning. Somebody was matched at 80 though for £6 so they'll be hoping.

good point this - would love to know the full story and yes it does matter in regards the bleed imo if it wasn't a pulmonary hemorrhage then it is not to bad because if it was just a bleed from the nose this is just normal in most horses, anyway looks like being a runner and connections have given the info to the market which makes the race even harder to fathom but one thing for certain they will get a price about him come the day

MOT went out to and was matched at 80 for £2 but the biggest traded for more was 55. I know this cos i had £2 up at 50 for about an hour and i cancelled it, i realized soon after I cancelled that it would have matched

This is my biggest winner of the fest, very closely followed by Faugheen and Annie Power.
Most bets were placed pre season debut and I wouldn't back him now in a month of Sunday's.
I'm glad he looks like possibly running as Id rather have my money running than not, but he's had a horrific prep for a race like this.
He's by far and away the best horse in the race, but not by so much that he can overcome the issues he's had and still beat some fairly good horses.
If Zarkandar or SDR win I'll be a very slightly up and I'd take that now.

I don't think they would run him if they did not feel he was in good enough condition to perform somewhere near to, or even at, his best. Gutted this news came so late as I took him out of my mini TTF lists yesterday!! ****s.

GRADE 1-winning novice hurdler Beat That will miss next month's Ladbrokes World Hurdle, which he was as short as 10-1 for.
Trained by Nicky Henderson for Michael Buckley, Beat That scored at the top level at Aintree and Punchestown's spring meetings last year, but will miss the Cheltenham Festival, it was revealed on Monday.
He has had only one start this season when well beaten behind Rock On Ruby at Cheltenham last month and will be put away for a novice chase campaign next term.
Henderson could still be represented in the World Hurdle by 16-1 chance Blue Fashion.

Surely he'll be on Rock on Ruby. I wouldn't even consider jumping off him if I was Fehily. He's been riding him all season and is just a better horse than Zarkandar imo.

It was the bit about Briar Hill having a problem I was interested in. Just the absolute opposite to what I understood was the case. And he's been well backed since falling last weekend

Delsie. I was going to back BH but holding fire for a bit now. I heard the same about Balleycasey last year and although he drifted,he did end up running.

Didn't know about the retainer. Is it like the Munir-Jacob deal? You ride for us unless we can get someone better! Hopefully Ruby rides Zark then, as I love ROR and would like to see Fehily on board.

Coming round to having a little bit on Reve in this. Whatever the excuses for Zarkandar, Reve did beat him, and last time only went down by a short distance to SDR giving him weight.
His festival record isnt the best, but ran a cracker in the Neptune against Peddlers and Rite of Passage, and the Cleeve proves he can act around HQ.
Guaranteed stayer and his last two runs are a marked improvement on anything he's shown in the last couples of years.
25's is a decent ew price.

Rebecca Curtis has raised the possibility of a change of headgear for At Fishers Cross ahead of his bid to get his season back on track in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
The eight-year-old is a former Festival winner having landed the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle in 2013 and last year he ran a fine race in defeat in the World Hurdle when finishing third behind fellow JP McManus-owned runner More Of That and brilliant mare Annie Power.
He has struggled to replicate that level of form so far this season, most recently failing to fire in the Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock, but Curtis hopes her charge can bounce back at a track that brings out the best in him and he could be aided by a pair of blinkers.
Curtis said: "I actually thought he jumped well at Haydock and we're just going to try a couple of new things.
"He seems to like Cheltenham and we're hoping that we might see a bit of improvement.
"We haven't decided yet, but we could put some headgear on him. I'll speak to Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) and see what he thinks."
At Fishers Cross will be part of a small but select team of Festival runners for the leading Welsh trainer.

Annie will run in the World Hurdle, Aurora D'estruval is out which leaves the door wide open for Mullins to run Glens Melody which almost won the Mares last year, Glens would be clear fav and Annie ran a cracking race in the WH last year and would have a great favs chance, i don't think Mullins will turn the chance down to win the bigger race now.

Well none of us know what she will run in,so we have to wait till confirmed by those that will know. Personally I would completely agree Leonardo, don't think they would run her in the WH after the season she's had,or not had!! Be real tough for her to compete in that race, whereas the Mares would be a lot easier and she might get away with it in that race where she is a fair way ahead of the others.

"money is coming for Annie Power in the World Hurdle"
... nothing to do with the fact it's a risk free bet in the "Non Runner Money Back" markets currently offered by the majority of bookmakers? Some people need to wake up.

For what it's worth, Annie would be going World Hurdle had her season not been interrupted through injury. The original plan was never World Hurdle but the fact More Of That misses out would definitely have tempted Mullins/Ricci/Ruby had she went through normal preperations. It will still be in Ricci's mind that he could have 4 strong contenders for the big ones (Faugheen - Champion Hurdle, Champagne Fever - Champion Chase, Annie Power - World Hurdle and Djakadam - Gold Cup) but she missed the whole of December and has not seen a racecourse since Punchestown. There's a Grade 1 there for the taking ...

Think he meant on here mate. Laid as big as 100/1 all the way down to 8/1. Now bits and pieces of 12-13/1 on offer. Everytime someone hears the decision isn't yet made they take a bit of whats on offer just in case she's switched and goes off 9/4. Each to their own.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mullins ran Abbyssial in this, given that the English handicapper has given him 8lbs more than the Irish for the Coral Cup and County Hurdle.
His rating of 156 only puts him a few pounds short of Zarkandar, Rock on Ruby and Un Temps Pour Tout. Had a little ew saver at 40's NRNB in case he goes for it rather than carrying top weight in a handicap.

Any guesses on who will get the ROR ride, who is available that could ride it?? Nick Schofield rides a lot for Fry so I would make him fav to get it. The only other rider i can think of who might come in for it is Daryl Jacob...

Arrrrr stupid me at the time of writing thought Dickie Johnson would be on RDS. I guess Dickie is another name you could throw in the hat, though I don't think he's ever had a ride for Harry Fry. Guess he's the highest profile and most experienced jock available at the min though.

There is money waiting to back them both but it strikes me that not many folks seem to fancy the Nichols pair, as each time there has been a non-runner, More of That, Annie P, ROR, their odds have always settled back at 5/1.

I like Abbyssial in this, although a lot to prove stamina wise.
Thought they'd go for this when the English handicapper gave him loads of weight.
40's a big price to find it his stamina holds out.

I don't know what I got more wrong - this or the Champion Chase.
Was at trials day when they had the Cleeve, and I would never have thought Cole Harden would have any chance of making up that much distance with SDR.
Those who predicted that the Irish form was not very strong were spot on.
I'd keep SDR over hurdles if I was Paul Nicholls, and it'll be interesting if they run Zark in the 2.5m or 3m hurdle at Aintree.
