Due to run tomorrow in the first race at Newbury. Only Paddy Power currently have him priced up and are generous as always with odds of 10/11 on offer. I'm more than happy to let him run at that price but will be watching with interest as both Henderson and Geraghty have both mentioned him as "one to follow" earlier in the season. For anyone interested this was the horses last win in France, rather impressive ... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oky88YoGvEs ... Top Notch is currently 33/1 in most places for the Triumph Hurdle so could be worth a small play.

You would think Harry Fry should be aiming his horse at the fred winter, so it shouldnt really want to win tomorrow, well if he does not that well.

Oh to be Simon Munir. Can't remember a better juvenile team than his this year. I don't know who is buying his horses, but they are clearly good judges.
Report harry callaghan December 29, 2014 11:20 AM GMT
tough ask to give 10lbs to the fry horse today, plus race fitness...if he does, we will dealing with another above average juvenile
Report Glossy December 29, 2014 12:36 PM GMT
Didn't looks as flashy as some but that could be a great run to give the 2nd 10lbs.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 December 29, 2014 12:38 PM GMT
Had a very small bet at 33s for the triumph before that race and backed him today at what has turned out to be a really shoite price. Only time will tell whether ive a good bet for Chelt, wont be a 33/1 shot on the day though. He's just the sort that can win triumph's given the hurly burly nature of the race and the sort of price you want to be taking at this stage on horses if your having an antepost bet in such a race.

Top Notch entered in Supreme Novices trial at Haydock Saturday......are they thinking of Supreme for this one??
Report buddeliea January 12, 2015 7:54 PM GMT
Just noticed, also entered in Juvenile Hurdle at Ascot, same day.
Report deepingfox January 12, 2015 10:33 PM GMT
Also Ante Post entry for 2M Betfair Hurdle (former Tote Gold Trophy) at Newbury in Feb.  I am keen on this one, and he seems to be earmarked to breakout of Juveniles into All Aged races, so yes the Supreme could figure, but the owner has the highly rated 2nd Fav for the Supreme, so I would be more keen on upcoming races rather than guessing which Festival Race.
Report alleged22 January 12, 2015 10:43 PM GMT
really like this one and think he will end up stable number 1 come march, * sticks neck out * Tongue Out
Report Unforgettable Fire January 12, 2015 11:23 PM GMT
Alleged, I'm with you. Loved his attitude on his debut and hoping he goes to the Triumph. However, unless Peace and Co doesn't take to Cheltenham, I fear he ends up in the Betfair and / or Aintree. Gut instinct tells me he will prove superior to his stablemate, if only in time.
Report thornton reed January 13, 2015 9:31 PM GMT
Don't think he's eligible for the supreme as he won over hurdles last March. He's eligible for Triumph though.

Any chance they could send Peace and Co to supreme and Top Notch to Triumph?
Report Eeternaloptimist January 13, 2015 9:52 PM GMT
There is if the petrol gauge runs empty up the hill on Peace And Co's visit their this month I'd have thought.
Report Harvester January 14, 2015 11:08 PM GMT
Won't matter how tired PAC is at bottom of the hill, he'll be 15 lengths ahead !! ;o)
Report bobmidd January 17, 2015 9:50 AM GMT
What price will Top Notch be for the Triumph if it wins the Ascot 12.40 today? It's still 20/1 with several bookies.
Report Eeternaloptimist January 17, 2015 11:14 AM GMT
I suppose it depends how he does it. He should win comfortably in my view.
Report buddeliea January 17, 2015 11:21 AM GMT
Ive backed him for Triumph, but I have concerns that he may skip the festival and be fresh at Aintree, owner has a few in the Triumph,i don't think all will run in the race.
Report Eeternaloptimist January 17, 2015 1:12 PM GMT
Seems a straight forward honest horse who I imagine they will look forwards to going chasing with. Early 140's is about where I'd say he is and unless there is a radical improvement I'd be surprised if that is quite good enough to win this Triumph.
Report ImSoLuckyLucky! January 17, 2015 1:53 PM GMT
Looks like a battled hardened hoss
I rate that form at 150
Only ridden in small fields and soft ground ,though
looking at his action better ground would suit
It seems interesting that the first choice rider
to Simon Munir has only ridden him .
If he lines up for the Triumph after this  ,14-1 is a fair
price
Report buddeliea January 18, 2015 6:44 AM GMT
Really impressed with Top Notch, and his jumping is really good, looks a real natural.
Still available at 20's which to be honest surprises me.
Triumph Hurdle is right up his street, good jumper, turn of foot and looks like he stays well.
Report buddeliea January 18, 2015 7:27 AM GMT
Sorry,now best priced 16.
Report GI MAC January 18, 2015 7:44 AM GMT
It's a fair price but it's got to be a concern about him turning up, these are post race comments from trainer:

They didn´t go that slow but it still looked a bit of a dash up the straight. Top Notch enjoyed himself. Simon and Issac have a fair hand and there´s no point chucking them all in. Peace And Co has to do again what he did the other day but if what was very obvious at Doncaster comes up again at Cheltenham next weekend he might be the one. This horse would be good back-up if that was the case. - Nicky Henderson, trainer.
Report buddeliea January 18, 2015 8:06 AM GMT
yeh,ive said that's a concern,be a shame imo, horse looks tailor made for the race to me.
Ive taken a chance but not gone too mad, would be nice if someone went NRNB on all races earlier in season..
Report buddeliea February 15, 2015 7:14 AM GMT
Great stuff.........Looks like hes a runner in The Triumph, and a real chance.
Just love the way he jumps.
Report wellchief February 15, 2015 9:29 AM GMT
Definitely worth an ew punt at 16/1.  He's the best jumper of all the novice hurdlers that I've seen this season.
Report buddeliea February 15, 2015 10:30 AM GMT
Massive price that, tempted to go in again.
How hes such a difference to PaC is rather puzzling imo.

Yes Chief, hes the best jumper ive seen as well mate.
Report The RealDeal February 15, 2015 10:36 AM GMT
Agreed, I've been in twice at 16's.

Just have to hope the owners (and Henderson advising them) send 2 well fancied horses for the same race.
Report buddeliea February 15, 2015 10:40 AM GMT
Jacob said hes definitely running.
I think the owner would want 2 shots at beating Hargam.

Has a trainer ever trained the 1st 3 home in the Triumph??....very much doubt it somehow.
Report wellchief February 15, 2015 10:51 AM GMT
I wouldn't have wanted to have lumped on Peace and Co and sub 2/1, when you've got two like Hargam and Top Notch lurking in behind.

With these juveniles you just don't know much they've got up their sleeve, but I'd rather take a chance on the latter pair, who have looked just as good as the favourite to me.
Report buddeliea February 15, 2015 10:52 AM GMT
I think anyone with any sense would agree with you Chief.

I wouldn't worry  Ladbokes   have cut him from 16s to 12s today. Still overpriced, he has a massive chance.

Still available at 14/1? I thought he'd be clear second favourite after yesterday. Jumps beautifully and has a 100% record over hurdles.

TOP NOTCH, who secured his place in Nicky Henderson's Triumph Hurdle team with a bloodless win at Haydock on Saturday, could underline the depth of his stable's festival juvenile strength by running again this weekend.
Henderson said the horse looked so well at exercise on Monday morning that he gave him an entry in the BetBright Cheltenham Festival Fund Adonis Hurdle.

In the past ten years the Kempton Grade 2 prize has been won by three subsequent Triumph Hurdle winners and two future Champion Hurdle winners, three of them trained by Henderson, Soldatino (2010 Triumph), Binocular (2010 Champion) and Punjabi (2009 Champion).

Henderson trains Triumph Hurdle 9-4 favourite Peace And Co for Top Notch's owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede and also has the second favourite Hargam. Top Notch is now fourth in the betting on 12-1 after extending his unbeaten sequence over hurdles to five.

Henderson, who also has Bivouac engaged in the Adonis, said on Monday: "I haven't discussed anything with the owners yet but I saw Top Notch out this morning and he was so bright and perky and looked fantastic that I put him in the race.

"He obviously didn't have a very hard race on Saturday but he enjoyed himself and it just crossed my mind to make the entry.

"The plan was originally to run Bivouac, but he's going to be in the Dovecote as well. Days Of Heaven will run in the Dovecote and Bivouac in one of the two.

"I don't think I need to run Top Notch again but he's so fit and well we'll have a look at it. Originally he was on the subs bench for the Triumph, but he's now actually going to play."
Report buddeliea February 17, 2015 5:15 PM GMT
Very excited with that news.
Report stevo1 February 17, 2015 5:29 PM GMT
Not sure if he wants another race so close to Triumph.
Given conditions are going to be pretty awful re rain forecast.
Report buddeliea February 17, 2015 5:51 PM GMT
Nor me mate, but at least hes happy with him and hes gonna run in triumph by the looks of it.
Reckon he wont run Saturday if its really soft ground or looks a hot race.......hope not anyway.
Report Graeme83 February 18, 2015 12:09 AM GMT
Wouldn't put it past hendo to run this on saturday to get an excuse to miss the festival, and go straight to aintree. I hope the owners are wise enough to give saturday a swerve.
Report Eeternaloptimist February 18, 2015 1:42 AM GMT
May be controversial for those who have backed the horse but why would Hendo blow the knackers off three very nice juveniles in the same race and potentially leave them legless for the late season big races? He did say that some would miss Cheltenham and be kept back for Aintree and if Top Notch is one of those then he has given fair warning.
Report buddeliea February 18, 2015 6:55 AM GMT
He's just said he runs in the Triumph,I expect him to run and the way he's performed he certainly should be in it.
