If SDG and Sacre have problems this year......not an impossible thought.

my thoughts as well howdy that a novice could have a pop at the big one and you could also put up a case for   un deuax scau as well cant see any prices on here !

a lot of" ifs ,buts and maybees but if the top 2 fail to perform or turn up then it could be an ideal situation for mullins 1 in the arkle and the other in the champion ,will request betfair for add both to champion

Initially I was quite scornful about this suggestion but once I had a look at what's around, besides Sire De Grugy, there's nothing else to fear as healthwise, the Henderson duo have got plenty of questions to answer.

I can't remember the last novice to have a go at the Champion Chase but Master Minded did win it as a 5yo (he had plenty of chasing experience by then) so that'd be encouraging for a couple of long-priced punts.

Flemenstar might be interesting if connections decide to try the 2M route but if Sprinter Sacre's fit & well, then it's game over!

Market is telling me that everything is not cut and dried as far as SS wellbeing is concerned. As soon as news broke that all was not well with SDG, SS was shortened to 3.3, but he is back to where he was before that news was published and with some decent sums being matched too! I have therefore been laying the top two in the market for buttons and intend to continue adding a little bit here and there until news breaks either way.
I have just backed balder succes at 16/1 however each way with lads. And took 7s currently available with hills for simonsig in the to win any race.
Report duffy November 14, 2014 12:47 AM GMT
3.75 about SS suggests to me that he's missing a leg...I'd be looking at CF myself, don't think the 3 mile experiment will work, he's too keen and we're seeing now that he's prone to a blunder...he is however a powerful galloper that can if allowed bowl along up front and win his races that way....should have gone quicker in the arkle last year and that cost him...point and shoot over 2 miles.

Foyles,
I asked about adding UDS to the Champion Chase market, got a  reply saying she would probably be running in the Arkle!!!

How did you get on mate??
Report FOYLESWAR November 15, 2014 8:45 AM GMT
hi budd ,no reply as yet ...........the way the race is shaping up not hard to see a top novice or 2 missing the arkle and going for what could be an "easier" champion chase ,take out sprinter and sire de grugy and the race looks weak at the moment !
Report buddeliea November 15, 2014 9:37 AM GMT
Yeh,exactly, could easily see this situation with SDG and SS closely looked at by connections of top novices.
Be nice to get a step ahead, just need someone to price a few of them, especially Mullins horses.
Really think a horse like UDS with his style of running would shake up an average QM field.
Report FOYLESWAR November 15, 2014 12:35 PM GMT
yeah exactly budd ,hopefully a few others will request adding to champ chase and it will happen soon , if you take out simonsig as well it looks pish poor ,and likely other novices like gods own will have an entry !
Report duffy November 15, 2014 12:41 PM GMT
The fact that the top two are looking decidedly shaky will deter anyone offering prices about any potential top novice at the moment because they could end up getting caught out......they will want to wait and see what happens when the top two run first....if they were forced to price up a novice now, they'd be obliged to offer something half decent but to all intents and purposes could well be doing so without the top two in the market...but having to price it up on the assumption that the top two are in the market.

Sint - I overlooked that one squire...but that's very understandable as it's eminently forgettable Happy
Funnily enough, I had that same rag earmarked as a possible Grand Annual candidate.

I will happily lay you all you want at 3.5 or less fools Crazy lol he has had a year off the track, he wont come back the same way i would be very surprised! Mischief

Rather back SS then SDG with the dodgy hip haha. Can just see him scooting up in the tingle creek, SDG out for Cheltenham and SS winning champion chase by 10l at 1/4. 5/2 seems huge, am I mad?
Report FOYLESWAR November 20, 2014 1:06 PM GMT
vautour makes his chase debut sunday ,vic chandlers have introduced him to the champion chase betting at 16/1
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 November 20, 2014 4:22 PM GMT
Your probably right fools, if SS lines up in March he will surely be a short priced fav. But that is a big IF, ok not as big as SDG's if, but still a if. And after a year off the track, can we even be sure he will be the same horse? Ok i will be honest, i've been laying the front two in this market now for the best part of 6 weeks. Adding bits here and there. Mainly because i think that we have just come out of a decent patch of repeat winners in the very biggest of races, this surely is going to come to an end and with SDG's problems this past summer and seeming unknown into his wellbeing i've been laying. The reason ive been laying SS is this, i wouldn't be laying one horse solely lol i just can't afford it but mainly that also, we don't know of SS wellbeing having not heard anything of note since early October and before that it was end of August! And why is he being traded at as big as 4 when he should be 3 maxConfused And to decent sums too!
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 November 22, 2014 4:39 PM GMT
Can't see if there is a stand alone thread for the QMCC on here so putting it on here.

Been watching this market for last couple weeks, little trades here and there.

I just had £3 matched laying Moscow Mannon at 30s this morning and someone took all the dosh down to 19.5 (about £60). It got absolutely blown out of the water by Ballycasey today yet is still sitting at 19.5 with plenty wanting to back it, this puzzles me but then i look at the top end of the market and noticed SS being laid right out to 4 again with just £2 asking to be matched at 500s and SDG sitting at 10s.

A case of shrewdies backing the field slowly cos the top two are about to come out perhapsConfused

Don't get me wrong, i am sitting on a very decent position if the top two are nonners but the MM puzzles me!

only a couple of weeks to the tingle creek and then we will know
Report Ming_the_Merciless November 23, 2014 7:34 PM GMT
If SS had had a leg OR joint injury and been off for a year then I would understand laying him but as it is and with glowing reports from Hendo then 5/2 is massive IMHO in a market with no depth.
Report SEATHESTARS....NO1 November 23, 2014 10:21 PM GMT
In a market that is sitting at reg 106 - 111% SS should be 4s - 4.5! The very fact that he is currently trading around 3.5 - 3.65 means i am laying the brains out of him and SDG at the top.

My book in this race is looking healthier by the week! Only Saturday i got matched at 4, got vautour at 110s for a few pennies which made gave me an even stronger possy! I is smiling. Even if one of the top two came out, which i expect to happen, it will be ok. If both come out jackpot, if none come out and the both make the gig (best possible scenario) then what prices do you make SS & SDG in say a 10 runner field given the evidence on what we can guess at what might turn up now? It's certainty to not be no 5/6 6/5 16s bar is it, more likely a 6/4 3/1 7s bar race cos if they both make the gig, winning easily their preps and fit and well in no way are they going to allow SDG too big, he is the reigning champ.

Was it ever actually clear what happened to Sprinter Sacre? Anything Henderson says is all a bit dodgy.

Last season the horse was never right and I've a funny feeling he's still not. Like he missed the Tingle Creek with this thing an unsatisfactory tracheal wash (I've no idea what that is), then ran at Christmas and went out like a light allegedly with an irregular heartbeat which self corrected itself immediately after the race. Then he missed the whole of the rest of the season which was never clear why - although what I gathered was that it was due to the after-effects of the irregular heartbeat or so we were meant to believe. There was far more to all that than what was made public surely.

There hasn't been much talk from Henderson recently either about him so I just wonder if he's still disappointing them at home.

why lie,its not going to hurt his stud value, thought henderson said last season he was still working well after his problem compared to other horses but not to the level he had set himself so they decided to leave him until this season

Would have thought that Champagne Fever would run in the QMCC if the top 2 dropped out.  In fact wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in it anyway.  Very much doubt Vautour will be in the line up on the day.

Is this essentially the champion chase thread? Laddys have Somersby at 50s, he's not really my idea of a winner but if the big two don't turn up that could 've some real ew value
