Colin Tizzard says he's back & doing well. One of my fav's.
Looking forward to a good run at Exeter, a win or place at Haydock. Then a big Boxing Day King George win, front running, and no treading water before the last.
If he's back on song it'll be great to see. Fingers crossed

How long before Judo tells us he's going to win the Gold Cup wjilst playing the trombone up the home straight with the jockey reading a copy of The Racing Post?

I'm not so sure re S Conti. I love them both, but I just think that flat spot last year was so odd. He picked up again after the last, and I think the distance & course are ideal.
Cue Card at current prices makes more appeal. |

Cue Card must be a dream to ride, out front, clear sight of the fences. I guess the hard bit is judging the pace....very hard probably....
I think Jacobs is pretty good myself, and I'm sure he'll have been on top quite a bit before they're together at Exeter. Could be Cue Cards year I think....my pocket hopes so. |

Me too. I can't imagine anyone other than Joe on Cue Card. Would have really liked Joe to have continued riding for another season. I've been a big fan of Daryl Jacob for years so I will now have to trust that he can do as good a job as Joe has done riding Cue Card. |

Obviously had had the breathing op, which if he was having any issues, could explain the slow motion 5 seconds in last years King George. Seems like the same plans as last year. Think he'll have a BIG season.

This is my all time favourite horse bar none, and I'll be backing him in every race he runs in and rolling some of it over.

The best thing they could do for the horse would be to drop him back down to 2 miles and take it from the front.
Won't win a Gold Cup, and no point going back over the middle distances. |

He's won the Betfair over 3 miles, so I don't think you can say he doesn't stay stays 3m. Personally I think the Kempton 3m too is well within his stamina.
Probably agree re the Gold Cup, but Betfair, KG & Ryanair this season would be more than acceptable! |

Of more concern has to be the form of the Tizzard horses. I don't think they have had a winner this season. Handy Andy ran respectably last week, but that is about it. Is there still some sort of bug in the stable?

If I was having a punt, I'd rather take the 8's for the KG than the 12's for the GC.

CUE CARD will once again start his season in Exeter's Vix Technology Haldon Gold Cup next Tuesday, with Daryl Jacob taking the ride on the eight-year-old for the first time.
Third last year to Somersby and winner of the Grade 2 in 2012, Cue Card will be having his first start since last December, having been out of action with a minor stress fracture to the pelvis. Speaking on Wednesday, the trainer said: "He's been to the Haldon Gold Cup for the last two years, two miles two is probably a bit short of his optimum nowadays but we need a race before the Betfair Chase. "It worked lovely last year so we're doing the same again." Tizzard's son Joe partnered Cue Card on all 20 of his previous starts, but as he is now retired Daryl Jacob, who was snapped up as retained rider for owners Bob and Jean Bishop over the summer, takes the ride. Last year's winner Somersby also features among the 11 entries for the Haldon Gold Cup, with Balder Succes and God's Own other possible runners. |

I wouldn't pay any attention to the Haldon. Total prep run over wrong trip. He was beaten well last year and horses weren't needing it as bad as they are this term. Also horses often run a bit below themselves in their first run after a wind op.
A return to the right trip, hopefully not too bad ground and we'll see him put up a proper performance. Was hoping he'd drift more than half a point for betfair after defeat today. |

The Betfair will see Cue Card in a better light, but I think he might still need that run to be spot on. Jacob was pushing from a fair way out and 2m is more than likely too short now anyway. Far too early to write off though.

I hope he will improve but I was a at Exeter today and I was a bit disappointed in the run. I know he was giving quite a lot of weight to the first two but still beaten a long way. Gods Own was really impressive.

Seriously!!! I mean then nothing will win the Betfair Chase.
Sil Conti - poor ftp Taquin - poor fto Cue Card - poor fto Holywell -poor fto Maybe the trick is to miss your intended prep runs ala Dynsate and save your poor run for the Betfair itself. Oh and Boston Bob, Uxizandre etc.. are also to be written off due to poor first runs. Look it's clear the warm summer means the top horses are needing it more than the trainers thought. The main aims for all the horses I've mentioned above are to come. They all just needed their preps. Judge them on their main winter aims. |

I've only just had chance to watch the race from yesterday.
I was very happy with Cue Cards run and very happy with the ride that Daryl gave him. I thought he jumped much better than he did in this race last year. I'm feeling very optimistic that Cue Card can get back to where he was last season before his injury. I think his trainer was more pleased after this year's Haldon Gold Cup run than he was last year. Cue Card fans have a lot to look forward too  |

I've been looking for news on how Cue Card is this morning after yesterday's run.
Hopefully he has come out of the race well. To my surprise I found he has his own Twitter account He hasn't tweeted anything so far this morning. He's probably still in bed |
