Fine Article - trained by Paul Nolan and a half brother to Joncol. Lovely big horse who ran really well in bumpers last season but is crying out for further and some obstacles.

Altior and Miles to Memphis are a couple of novice hurdlers who could be exciting.
Sausalito Sunrise and Carraig Mor are a couple of horses I think will do well novice chasing this season.
Pendra and Victor Hewgo are a couple of handicappers I think should improve from their current marks.

Report TheFlyingMuscovite September 10, 2014 1:18 PM BST
I thought Nicholls said Irving returned a dirty scope after the Supreme but it has taken him until his owners day for the information to get out. He certainly was very disappointing but as a consequence he might be better handicapped.

Report Simonw1981 September 10, 2014 7:53 PM BST
Irving wasn't well after cheltenham and as my dad is a share holder we know why he didn't run his race. He will be aimed at the Elite hurdle first at wincanton, which being a right handed flat track should suit for his first run back. Hopefully it can be another exciting season.

I made a very positive note of Prince of Lombardy last season. Owned by Dr. Lamb and trained by Jim Culloty, he won't be rushed but could turn out to be top class in time.

This talk about Irving made me remember the horse they made oddso on to beat it- CUP FINAL - Nicky Henderson and JP.
Ran 3 times in 3 very good races taking market support yet did not quite meet expectations, surely better things "were" expected and could be one to look at in handicaps.

Cup Final- N Henderson.
Report conductor September 15, 2014 4:41 PM BST
this animal will probably run only 5 or 6 times this season with the gold cup in march surely the optimum target. not exactly a dark horse for this season, but HOLYWELL must surely be in the mix in all races he runs in during the campaign.. as a bonus he will travel very strongly during his races and is classic back to lay material on the day... good luck everyone.Wink

im keeping an eye on ptit zig liked him last year and he ran in the champion which was high praise. (Balder suceess did similar). I am surprised there has been little or no mention of another one here, namely

saphir du rheu.........who had some top class form in the book last year.

SECRETE STREAM should win his share when the mud is flying.

Won his novice hurdle  in a very fast time at Wetherby last Christmas and was subsequently beaten by the smart Clever Cookie (look what that's gone on to do on the flat) in a hot race at Kelso. Malcolm Jefferson knows the time of day when it comes to placing horses and this one is one to follow on the northern circuit IMO

Have a nice bumper horse and a possible Triumph/Fred Winter horse in yard, Can't state names but when they are ready to go I'll drop a hint or 2 (A few know where I work but I'd not want it common knowledge tbh).
Have heard Highland Castle jumps like a buck but it's 50/50 to if he goes novice hurdling.

Report Giddy September 23, 2014 8:36 PM BST
Definitely Red. Trained by Steve Gollings, who states that he could be something special. Form from his 2 bumper, and 1 point win working out well
Must have give in the ground to be seen at his best. Was surprised he ran in the festival bumper last season as he encountered the fastest ground
of the meeting. Visibly was feeling the ground on the run in and was eased, still finishing first of the home horses and only beat 9 lengths by speedy
flat bred Irish horses
Expecting him to take high rank in novices hurdles 2.5-3 miles and the softer the ground the better he will be

The horse that was second was trained by Hobbs, and apparently he couldn't entertain it being beat, and thinks its a potentially top class horse. Another to follow IMO and could look a serious piece of form soon!

I remember mentioning Defy Logic as a lively outsider on here for the QMCC this year, shame he is otfs. He would have been one of my dark horses.

Not an unknown but I think Smad Place will ruffle a few feathers in the staying chases this year.

King yard under a massive cloud last year, and despite that ran a stormer in what looked on paper a decent RSA.

It'll be interesting if they go Charlie Hall / Betfair route, or second season novice weight for the Hennessey.

I've Sure Reef marked down as a World Hurdle horse, backed him last day he ran in Jan this year. Did very well to win as he was way too keen.

I'd aim him at a h/c hurdle first and go from there.

GREYWELL BOY is on my alert list and runs in the 3.50 at Wincanton today.

My notes read: Series of fast-run races in 2013-14, where he was far from disgraced. Third at Ascot off 127 in November 13 he ended the season on 124, despite a win and an impressive second to Persian Snow on soft ground at Warwick in February.58% place percentage from his 17 runs to date. Small field / Soft ground / Well-rested / 2m 4f = ideal conditions.

If any rain has got into the ground in Somerset he looks a tidy proposition at around 14/1.

Taj Badalandabad of David Pipe,Won as he wanted in two summer bumpers didn't look to have beat much but it was more the manner in how he disposed of the opposition that got me excited,And runs in the legendary Lough Derg colours too!

I remember being very taken by Sue Smith's BLAKEMOUNT when he just got touched off by Urban Hymn at Doncaster in January with the two well clear of a field including Sausilito Sunrise (Hobbs' horse to follow this season and Timesremembered (ran very well in the Coral Cup subsequently).

Blakemount has not been seen since and will likely be suited by better ground than he had to contend with that day as he's by Presenting.

He has an entry in a novice chase at Wetherby on Saturday and a handicap hurdle at Carlisle on Sunday, no idea what the plans are but it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that he could make up into the north's leading contender for the RSA - if that's a tad ambitious, then maybe the 4 miler might be a more realistic target.
Report buickisgod October 30, 2014 11:31 PM GMT
Capote, Jonjo Oneill

All about education last season over hurdles with him. Sure to improve chunks this season, where i think he goes chasing.

An obvious one would be David Pipes Kings Palace. Not sure what the plans are for him but absolutely love how he hurdled last year.

The only ante post bet ive had is Apache Stronghold for the RSA AT 33/1. He will probably go under the radar if all goes to plan.

I know its after timing after its just dotted up (see Champion Hurdle thread) but I believe this horse can go right to the top. I see him as a possible Arkle winner in the future but he can win plenty hurdles first imo. Travels well and better off a strong pace and has an explosive turn of foot.
