Anyone have any info on the likely targets of these two JP nags? Am thinking Gilgmaboa in the County and Tap Night in the Byrne Group but haven't heard anything concrete (Gilg has a couple of novice entries and Tap also entered in the 3m hcap)...
In my opinion Gilmaboa is the obvious class shout for the County Hurdle but it does seem they are more interested in the Supreme, perhaps as Team JP do not have anything else in the Supreme. Of course options have to remain open as Regal Encore is complicating it more as it has to win on Saturday to get in anything and thats far from certain so I cannot see anything definate till final declarations.

I thought they would go for the Supreme and it looks to have a place squeak but I'm sure I read somewhere that its up for a £100,000 bonus if it wins the County because it won the **** hurdle, so would be daft to ignore that prospect.

On all known evidence the only two races they have a chance in are the Byrne Group and County. So as logic and JP are an unusual mix best to look elsewhere.

JP has plenty of options for the County. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the decision is made purely on the basis of AP not having a ride in the Supreme.

Honestly, JP needs some proper advisors. He obviously doesn't properly follow racing himself anymore and Berry doesn't know the ins & outs of the English form and how to correlate the two. I'm sure he has others advising him too but anyway...
I guess the old course is considered more of a test than the new course but that is still not good enough of a reason as he will not win the Supreme Novices on any course, likewise he could probably win the county on any course.

I don't think JP is at all bothered as long as he gets a winner or two. The wasted entries are just part of his fun and games and helping out his friends the bookmakers. I don't believe there is some top class think tank methodically plotting the best race for each horse. If there is they are not very good. As I said earlier I doubt very much Gilgamboa is running in the Supreme for any other reason than to give McCoy a ride. He travelled and jumped really well (AP is bound to conjure up some mistakes) last time but didn't really quicken up off the bridle as expected. He needs considerable improvement to figure in a Supreme. Even without improvement he had every chance in the County.
