Never a day out for the owners, he needs to be gold cup class to win the grand national off his high weight. On good ground he could go close in the gold cup.

Fair play to those who got on big last week... all the talk was of the Bryne Plate then a crack at the Nat... probably a bit of a overreaction by the books to the latest news... 40s - 50s on the day maybe if all main protagonists hold their ground?

Has he had a wind op since Henderson said he had wind problems?
Triolo has raced four times on courses with uphill finishes and lost every time, which fits with a breathing problem.

He won the Hennessy off 147, Bob's won it off 160 and is 5/5 at Cheltenham.
Appreciate that's all catered for in the price and he deserves to take his chance on good ground, not least because he might not necessarily get his ground at Aintree.

@ashleigh -- ramruma, you sound desperate not for it to run, why?
Just trying to stop people getting carried away. The formbook says he can't win the Gold Cup (not good enough and won't act on the track) whereas he can win the Grand National. Until this piece of work, connections were talking about the Plate which is a long way below Gold Cup class.
I can see why connections are tempted -- Bobs Worth apart, it looks a weak Gold Cup -- but imo he'll just risk leaving the National behind at Cheltenham.

it's possible, especially given only just over three weeks between the races this year...
However T43 running in Gold Cup as prep for National and Mullins stated in RP yday that he's considering running Boston Bob in Gold Cup to aim for top 4 finish to qualify for National.
I guess it depends on the horse.

Thinking about it, Triolo D'Alene could've run over 3m 2f at Donny yesterday and got his ground and prep run for the National in - think he was entered at 5 day stage.
They now risk going to National without a prep run or possibly having a hard race in the Gold Cup.
Perhaps they believe he's improved sufficiently to be really competitive in Gold Cup.

just thinking about that "bit of work" this morning hendo said triolo worked really well ! we were delighted with him ,we have to go somewhere with him and the gold cup is wide open this year . bobs worth also worked on the mandown gallop and he is another who worked well . would say it wont have been a taxing a gallop but he sounds especially upbeat about triolo and reckon his price will be in the teens come raceday .

yeah nice bet Ibrahima am on at 48 and 50 and am happy ,rocky creek out now and room for triolo to shorten further especially if last ins don't line up ,heard a rumour that triolo worked all over bobs but wheather he can do it on the racecourse isa another matter , we all know bobs loves the track but not easy to retain a gold cup ,

letting it ride as i will be backing bobs worth to win on the day, he only has BW & SC to beat imho.
& for me SC beat 2 non stayers in the KG and last season i took the view that he would not had finished in the first 3 in the gc. different i know.

as it turns out, SC beat a horse that was injured in the King George as Cue Card almost certainly fractured his pelvis in the race and would probably have won had he not
which makes the King George form look even worse imo

they hadn't done any work with him after the King George but the lameness showed up when they started to build him back up so he had very little chance to injure himself after the race so in all probability he did it in the race
they thought it was muscular as the lameness was intermittent but it turns out it was a stress fracture , confirmed by a scan, and you don't get stress fractures doing light work and walking
highly probable it happened in the race and that is why he stopped... he never stopped in any other race when hitting the front and going clear

and it is not 3 months you moron, the race was 26th December which is was only 2 months from when they announced his withdrawal and they gave him a month off, then he was lame when they started work and they hoped he would come right but he didn't. The stress fracture was revealed earlier this week
you should engage brain before posting crap like "not sure a horse can not show a sign of a cracked pelvis for 3 months imho."
it's still not 3 months now ffs

think this horse has to be taken seriously he looks to have been underestimated and from being a horse aimed at the national he is now being pitched in with the big boys and I belive he has a realistic chance of putting it up to the likes of silviniarco conte, bobs worth and co ,seems to have improved a ton from last season and may be he has come of age ,won the hennesey and has also won a big field race at aintree . supposedly wont be suited by the undulations of Cheltenham but if that were the case why would hendo and co send him there ? I think they belive he has a major chance and still a decent price at around 14-16/1 can see him in single figuers by race day must and he is open to any amount of improvement and is one who has not shown his hand yet .have him at big prices and going in again ... selection triolo daleen 1 point each way nrnb 14/1 or better .

I think he won a poor hennessy tbh, beat Rocky creek 2 3/4 lenghts recieving 4lb with Theatre guide another 1 1/2 lenghts back in 3rd giving 2lb, not a vintage hennessy by any means.

yeah you are right about not a vintage hennesey but when a horse is improving who knows where it will stop ? only 7 and on an upward curve ,he may not beat bobs worth who is obviously the stand out here but his price does not interest me , triolo stays well and is a tasty price and as I said before could progress a whole heap more ! looking at the field bar the front 2 last instalment may not line up if the gong is not suitable ,if first lieutenant takes his chance he finds winning difficult ,captain chris better right handed and may not fully get the trip .

I agree, this has got single figures written all over it as there looks to be a lot of weakness in the market above it and we know it stays and likes the ground.

If Triolo goes off at single figures I'd be amazed, he does not have any form in the book to say he should. There are at least six horses with graded or course form better than him.

We will see, but Bos Worth apart, Conti will drift on the ground, LI will not run, Captain Chris has left handed problems,FL not a likely winner if it runs, The Giant Bolster is not particularly sexy and the rest are rags. Triolo may well gather some momentum in the market!! Not saying it is the likely winner but not impossible imo.

As @Lion King says, there are doubts around all the runners so it is not outside the bounds of possibility that Triolo can at least place in a bad year but all his form is (a) at a lower level than a normal Gold Cup, and (b) at flat, galloping tracks like, erm, Aintree.

As soon as they said this fella was running (Triolo) my spider sense was telling me that it must be training something comparable to Bob - so either this thing is flying or Bob has regressed. As I can't see it being as good as Bob on last years run I suggest this years Bob may not be 'all that' this time around.
This has led me to conclude there will be no winner of this years race - something will scrape 3rd but that's all.
