Just not convinced that he is adaptable enough to changing circumstances during a race or when making a mistake. Eg HF seems able to adapt his running to differing race conditions, fast pace, slow pace.

Sire de Grugy at 5/2 NRNB. I have not gone off it yet although plenty on here seem to doubt him.

I have Calipto at 16/1, now tops 7/1, but gone off him due to the fact they waited 2 months to run again and he has little experience. Won't be trading though.

Grandouet for the Arkle @ 10/1!! Backed him in October in the hope he'd be a natural over larger obstacles.

you could have had sprinter sacre and simonsig for the arkle at that kind of price before they jumped a fence in public too

At Fishers Cross (in a double with Champagne Fever) - backed him at 4/1 before the Newbury debacle that I thought would be a cakewalk and propel him into 2/1 favourite. Could have got 16/1 after the Ascot debacle and still wouldn't have wanted it by that stage. Some encouragement last time but not enough for me to think he has a serious chance. Would happily cancel the bet now.

Also have AFC in a bet with Sprinter Sacre - compared to Sprinter Sacre AFC looks like a certainty so everything is relative!

Not my year this time. Got to take it on the chin and crack on again in 9 months time or so.

You're right Tucho, I did get in at the wrong time but I think the difference between SS, Simonsig and Grandouet is the first two went chasing straight from their novice hurdling campaigns whereas Grandouet was kept hurdling for two years. I know he's only 7 but I don't think it's an ideal way to prepare novice chasers. That's just a personal opinion, and is probably the reason I don't fancy ROR this year as well. But if one of them wins I am more than happy to completely change my perception of seasoned hurdlers going novice chasing!

I assumed this thread was about ante-post positions that now look good, i.e odds have significantly shortened, rather than bets they may still run that look shockers. I have about 5 or 6 of those! Boston Bob is one but for the WH. I hope they don't run in a way  as it is one of the few NRNB bets I have!

Backed Felix for the Jewson many months ago at 25's and layed my stake off at 12's (I think) when he looked Arkle bound, so effetively a free bet at 13/1.  Don't fancy him at all for that though because he should be in the Arkle and I don't see him winning over the longer trip.

Melodic Rendezvous at big prices on here and 40s NRFB. A very likeable horse but can't see him beating the likes of MTOY or the Fly.

Rule The World at 20s NRFB also. Can't see him staying the trip and unsure whether to trade. Around 8s with the books but 13.5 on here. Really can't see him going close.

They were my first two antepost bets too.

Of the better ones I have FL and Menorah for the Ryanair at 50ish and Last Installment NRNB at decent prices.

I backed two after Cheltenham in December. More Of That at 8-1 for the World Hurdle and King's Palace at 5-1 for the Potato Race with Laddies. Both are shorter with the books but both being off for the best part of three months doesn't fill me with confidence and I did expect MOT to have at least one more race for experience and will now be a little surprised if he turns up.

Felix Yonger for the JLT (like @wellchief) -- after Boxing Day I don't think he stays and is in the wrong race.

Sint, I was interested in peoples ante posts that they had gone right off, regardless of if price has shortened or lengthened really, and the reasons why.

My op was one that has shortened but also got some that are bigger now such as Racing Pulse in Nep 25/1 who can now be backed at a whopping 300s!

First one looks a dead duck but reckon he'll run a big 'un whichever race he turns up in.
Not ahead of the price with RIH but having thought it was doomed post Donny, really like it again now.

Bet Rock on Ruby @ 12s for the Arkle but does not have an Arkle winners's profile. 9yo, Champion Hurdlers don't win Arkle's and neither do front runners. Also it has only had 2 chases and beat 3 rivals, one of which fell so laid it back at 6.86 and have 5 spots to FA but it wont win

Foxrock at double figures but very concerned about his very deliberate jumping (whatever the ground) and the likelihood Katie Walsh will take the ride.

Champagne Fever won't front run. Walsh says thats how he got him beat LTO..will sit in behind Rock On Ruby.

Defy Logic taking him on got him beat. Champagne Fever has never won from behind. If he can't lead in the Arkle I would have serious doubts about him finishing in the three.
