Paul Townend at Cheltenham. Rides: 51, Wins: 1, and that was a handicap not for his boss.

not surprising when walshy farms all the best rides for himself, fwiw what is walshs record on chasers at Cheltenham recently?

Except Walshy for several years was farming the best rides from Nicholls over Mullins anyway, leaving Townend on Mullins' best horses in many races.

Case in point: Ruby choosing Unioniste gave him the plum ride on Boston Bob last year, on which he put in a poor performance. Is hardly on rags all the time even on a Mullins 2nd string.

That's an appalling record, even given the fact he's riding the stable's second string most of the time.

boston bob fell when winning how is that a poor ride, horse just not good enough on the day...

The sweeping move right around the outside of the whole field on the home turn was an unusual manoeuvre, then turning up back on the far rail before having a huge disagreement with the horse at the last fence was not a good ride.

I think Townend is very average.

I hope they all run Corruptus,the day will be more interesting if they do.

I know, A friend asked me to look as he was writing a article and is a lazy so and so, I Had to check twice as couldn't believe it myself given the firepower he has had available over the last 3 seasons.

any idea what his hurdles record is like minus the multiple winners, big bucks quevega and the fly ?

That really is surprising! Tells you just how hard a place it is to win at though, as he is clearly not a bad jockey.
