What an odd post!
Report festivalfanatic January 17, 2014 10:14 PM GMT
The end of the world is nigh....ffsLaugh
Report Glossy January 17, 2014 10:26 PM GMT
Bizarre.
Report alleged22 January 17, 2014 11:20 PM GMT
not that bizarre really as the real cold stuff has yet to take hold.

3 frosts we have had we normally get that by the end of October...
Report Glossy January 18, 2014 12:23 AM GMT
Do you not remember last year? It was snowing at the beginning of March!
Report onehundredandeighty January 18, 2014 6:22 AM GMT
Go on then,i'll start for the OP

OFF 9.2

ON no offers Silly
Report buddeliea January 18, 2014 6:33 AM GMT
Anythings possible, and we have had cold March before, but I don't think it does much good thinking about it!!
Bloody depressing enough with all this rain losing us racing without thinking we could lose the festival.
Report pebbles22 January 18, 2014 6:42 AM GMT
It's as likely to be near t shirt weather as it is snow/freeze....the currant has got a bit of strength by then so fingers crossed .....that said with the mild winter we have had so far ( and the mild weathe last couple of cheltenham festivals) I think a cold blast is not a million as the weather patterns normally level out over the year (I am the eternal pessimist I admit ) 9.2 seems a fair price ....and a bet I'd be happy to lose
Report Steamship January 18, 2014 8:27 AM GMT
To balance it up I got a tan on Kicking Kings Gold Cup it was that hot there
Report Tory January 18, 2014 9:58 AM GMT
Mild last festival? Where you there? I was freezing my balls off on Tuesday!!

Granted, you didn't even need a coat the two before
Report rogerthebutler January 18, 2014 10:32 AM GMT
Bet you they'll turn on the taps at some point beforehand Grin
Report The RealDeal January 18, 2014 10:50 AM GMT
Aren't the taps already on?

Why let a few downpours get in the way of putting a bit extra on, just in case!Wink
Report PeteTheBloke January 18, 2014 12:15 PM GMT
Not that bizarre to speculate about the weather (and the whether). BF have had a market up in previous seasons.
Report duffy January 18, 2014 12:19 PM GMT
We haven't had the real cold stuff as yet, but it's not like that there is a set amount of bad weather that we have to have and as we haven't had it yet, it's therefore guaranteed to come later....we might not get it...full stop.

The day Nick Dundee fell in the RSA I got sun burnt, I am kind of pale with freckles. But still that was last on my list of things about getting through the day. Ended up back in my hometown with my mate and I being taught the moves to Tragedy by Steps by a barmaid in a half empty nightclub. I was surprisingly good.LaughLaugh

How many times has the Festival been lost due to frost? None that I can remember. Midnight Court's Gold Cup was run in April (can't recall but suspect the ground was waterlogged in March), foot and mouth in 2001 and we lost a day not that long ago to very high winds.

It was very cold in the lead up last year....frost covers deployed, racing delayed, X country race rescheduled. It could happen again but thankfully, the likelihood is remote.Grin

Yes and we could have a plague of locusts and if the carpet-chewing imbecile from UKIP is to be believed, we may as well start building the Ark now that Gays are getting equal rights.

Here's a thought. Put the weather worry beads down and concentrate on the formbook.

What will be will be.
Report Orsoncart January 20, 2014 1:32 PM GMT
FF
Midnight Courts gold cup had been snowed off after Tuesdays racing, 1978 I think, and rescheduled for April, It would have been my first year at all three days of the festival.Cry
Report Steamship January 20, 2014 1:53 PM GMT
Remember the snow blizzard before The Thinkers Gold Cup looked really nice.

Dessie's Gold Cup almost waterlogged

Wednesday lost to wind and created 2 magic days of racing
Report rogerthebutler January 20, 2014 2:10 PM GMT
Yeah - that year when Wednesday was called off and we had marathon days on Thursday and Friday, was bloody excellent!
