Highly impressive. Lets wait and see if the trainer can deliver him to peak in March. Not the best of records at the Festival in recent years, but horse looks hugely promising.

He previously won a 3 mile soft ground point in Ireland and Adrian Maguire is convinced he's one of the very best he's trained, certainly, his first run under rules suggests he's very exciting indeed.

Really liked the performance but jumping out to the right a concern and might find him out upped in grade going left handed. Neat jumper for a big horse and very enthusiastic galloper. If he is a Cheltenham horse, I suspect we'll see him in the Bartlett on normal Cheltenham ground.

He's easily the most impressive novice I've seen this season so far, who knows what he beat but he won a 2 mile 6 race in the soft at uttox on the bridle pretty much in the style of a speedy horse, there was no grind to it at all.

Yep, it looked like he could do a Willie Mullins modus operandi and be dropped in trip
I guess if he wins well At Ascot then the Challow Hurdle might be next, and hopefully he wont show that quirk of slightly nudging to his right when he goes back to a left-handed track. I can't personally back him for Cheltenham until he has run left-handed again tbh, even if it was only minor.

yep, fair point sint, we just don't know how bad it would become if and when he came under pressure and of course you wouldn't fancy all the bumping he'd get if he did it with horses directly outside of him in a bigger field at the festival...he could be a monster though

Looks more like a staying chaser than a slick 2.5m hurdler to me. Serious mistake obviously cost him, but I think he had enough time to regain momentum, and wouldn't be in a rush to back him for Cheltenham any time soon.

Jockey never allowed him time to recover, panicked and started rousting him straight away. I don't think he can have long left at King's yard tbh.
It was a shocking error, and horse is a chaser in the making like a lot of Albert Barlett horses. Can't believe he got beat today but that mistake was bad. Saying he had time and ground to recover is like saying you have time to get to your feet after being kicked in the knuts whilst in a scrap. It takes a lot out of you no matter what.
1/8 SP

King saying he can run his stable with two number one jockeys doesn't sound plausible to me. When one of them gets beat on a 1/8 shot the owners are bound to wonder if they'd have been better off with the other one on board. I'll give the arrangement until Christmas.

I am pleased to report Carraig Mor was fine after Ascot. He has been given a good break and will return to training in the New Year.
At present I have no particular plans for him and it could be we bypass Cheltenham this season, as he is more of a chasing prospect for next season .

Think you're fooking right budd, anyway, I don't care, when this thing wins the RSA next year and then the GC the year after, I'm having this thread right up there

We start again tomorrow..let's hope that his problems from last season are behind him....as lowly a race as it was...his debut hurdle run had the wow factor about it....and Adrian Maguire still maintains he's one of the very best he's had and even mentions him in the same breath as the mighty Denman.....everyone connected with him think he's special...let's see it now!!!

Hope you're right Duffy and think today a good opportunity for a punt. Could just be different class to his opponents and we all know how excited AK was about him last year. No cakewalk today but I'd be very hopeful.

Looked very weak last year, He'll have done well to fill that frame over the summer but if so he'll be some bull of a horse, Is one I hope goes to the very top and looks a fair race to start him off in, Safe round will do but a exhibition round of jumping and winning by as far as he likes would be even better.

Duffy I've liked this horse since seeing its first race at uttoxeter I think it was, I followed him all year and over hurdles he obviously didn't quite live up to expectations but I watched with anticipation today in the hope chasing which he was bred to do would show him to be the star I thought he would be........... To be honest I was disappointed today as I thought he would win and the lofty heights of RSA seem a bit ambitious on that run, but hopefully he will improve his jumping which wasn't the best and I haven't totally given up on him!!! My instinct after the race was if he will line up in any festival race then the 4 miler might be his best chance of winning???

You don't start a horse out over fences at its longest trip do you? Surely you build up to his longest trip? He won his point to point over 3m on heavy ground a staying career beckons imo

Barnsey, surely the way a horse races has to come in to things? A horse who races very keenly over a certain trip does not want stepping up in trip. Winning a point is no guarantee of staying three miles on the track.
Unless he has a personality change and becomes much more relaxed over night, Carraig Mor has only two hopes of staying four miles imo.

Apart from his debut Carraig Mor has done very little to warrant such interest, but the horror ride choc gave him next time out will take a long time to get over.
Still reckon the horse is a dud, even though i think Carole's Destrier is very decent.

Most importantly they need to get him to settle, I thought his jumping was preety good on the whole apart from one obvious mistake.....the edging right handed is a potential problem too, so all in all they've got to iron a few things out...he has undoubted talent though and all things are still possible for him.

Big day tomorrow, hot renewel of the feltham I think but at least he'll be racing right handed which will help, didn't expect him to be trading quite as big as he is if I'm honest.

sick with that...looked very good right up to departing, obviously was keen but frustrating not to find out if he'd have kept going.....I remain convinced he's something special.

I wonder if he will be one of those horses that continues to frustrate? Think hes got real talent and i have had a bit at nice odds on here for the RSA. See hes entered up at Kempton on Saturday over 2 and a half m though, maybe they might think about dropping back in trip for the festival??

Surely a confidence booster after Kempton and one eye on the spring/don't bottom him out on winter ground etc.
Doesn't look like he wants anything other than 3 miles for the races that matter (Or even 4

Probably right, but suggests the four-miler is a no-no surely. Not the ideal prep for that slog by dropping a hard-puller to two and a half. I like this horse too, but like others have said, he might be tough to get the best out of.

The big issue they've got to sort out before he has even the slightest chance of even being competitive at any festival race is the going out to the right on a left handed track..at this moment you have to think that whatever he achieves it will have to be right handed.
I tell you what I'd do, depending on what happens over the week-end, I'd do an opening batsmen and bang him in the Racing Post chase as a novice...I'd love to see him firing around Kempton, reckon he'd have them all strung out a long way from home.

Here we go again this afternoon, worried about going left handed...convinced he's still a monster though, just a matter of time before we see it....it'll be the other way around though.

Ohh god, big problems, never looked happy at any point....he jumps out to his right when he jumps, that wasn't the problem so much today though, he never went a yard really, always being niggled.

oops accidentally bumped my Fav. horse, running again tomorrow, getting everything back on track again...still travelling well and giving coneygree a race in the Feltham you know...keep the faith...ulcers all sorted hopefully....over the proverbial cliff with this horse for me...still convinced he's top quality

Agree CCM, it's taking time but he'll get there eventually, he was still half keen crossing the finishing line....just a shame he'll go out to his right going the other way around, that said, I'd love to see him whizzing around Aintree.

Big day tomorrow, left handed obvious concern of course but notwithstanding that he's looking likely to be going off a bigger price than I for one make him, although I'm biased as am convinced he's got all the talent in the world

race was just beginning to hot up with him and alary up front just beginning to get tea for two at it and he took off a stride too early and went...gutted as it was just getting exciting...hope he's ok, deserves a big day.
