I got the placepot in yesterday ( along with about everyone else ).

Was on Jezki quite big and the French mare e/w for a few quid.

Thats as good as it gets sadly.

I was balls deep e/w on Rival destruval in the 4m today. Looked like winning I feel. Sad

My biggest bet so far was 8/1 e/w on taquin de soiul. Simply not good enough on the better ground.

Went out of the placepot in the coral cup.

Not good so far. Must do better.

Very happy with how it's gone so far.

Tuesday:
Champagne Fever at 11/2 (after laying my 20s out on here last week Cry)
Simonsig as part of a treble with Sprinter Sacre and Salsify, otherwise no bet
Decent bet on the Fly
Played up the winnings on Quevega at an incredibly generous 8/11

Wednesday:
Back in Focus in a double with Pont Alexandre. Thought this'd be a winner, I was wrong.
Backed 4 of the 8 runner field in the Neptune. The New One was not one of the four.
Biggest bet of the week so far on Boston Bob. Still can't comprehend that and going to ignore that it ever happened.
Things turned around here: 2 x £20 evens on Sprinter with a further £20 at 2/1 over 10 lengths.
No joy in the Coral Cup.
Gordon Elliot will pop up with some ridiculous plot at some point. Backed Flaxen Flare off of this basic logic and suddenly from hating life after Boston Bob I'm well into profit.
With Regal Encore backed at 17.5 I thought I was in for another result when he turned for home swinging, but alas I can't complain.

Delighted with how it's gone so far. Still 2 days to turn it around Mr E, and 2 days for my profit at the moment to become mere history Grin

flying at the moment - and i am not a big fave backer usually but I have just took advantage of the bookies simonsig/quevega/sacre offers. did not expect them all to win.

i am ashamed i did not get that easy placepot yesterday and that i failed in the last leg of the placepot today - its hard not to be greedy.BlushGrin

Rival destruval - don't think he was tiring as it was said in commentary - unlucky pal.

im quite taken with this one, and with the doubts surrounding which race some of his rivals will face at the festival, ive taken the 16-1 with laddies. im sure his odds will fall if he runs well on saturday.

Good day tuesday, backed Champagne Fever and Rajdhani Express. & doubles Simsonsig & Quevega, plus 2 ew bets hit the frame.

Lost a fortune on TDS yesterday but backed Medinas and Caid Du Berlais (2nd), shame it didnt win as i had them in a double.

Not a good week for me. Got lucky today and still not sure how. Left lays on here for both Capt Conan & First Lieutenant at 1.5, extremely surprised to see them both taken when I got back to base. Other than that had Carrickboys in my already blown out place pot but not a penny on it otherwise which kinda sums up the week so far

Not as good as I hoped here.. RDS,Champion Court finishing unplaced was painful. Leathered The New One so that was nice. Boston Bob was another sickener. Really hope Our Conor wins, that would make my week decent. On a lot at 7/1.

lol.

I went past a beggar after racing on tuesday after i got home from racing, when he gave it the sarcastic thanks when i didnt give him anything i was fuming as i was going to give him £50 but after i went into the shop, i still gave him all the coins i had and reminded him that manners cost nothing.

Epic festival for me, backed  20/1 16/1 33/1 winners and with 2 20/1 2nds to add.

Didnt do well antepost with my biggest 2 bets not making it (coneygree/melodic R) and my biggest bet of the festival on Taquin Du Seuil hit the crossbar.

I clearly  back more than one when i hit an outsider but backing the last 5 winners today was very nice even thou 4 of them were pretty easy.

Today saved my bacon.

Had a chunk on Our connor and a double with Our connor and at fishers cross.

Was on Sir des champs to win but simply beaten by the better horse.

Didnt fancy anything else but had a crafty 25 quid on Alderwood just before the tapes went up for the last! Laugh

Oh and i got the placepot in aswell!

3 very bad days and one very good one.

It's a what might have been festival for me, that said last two days have been fairly ok

Tennis Cap, Boston Bob and My Tent Or Yours (latter at 20/1) were sickeners

Did doubles yesterday with Cue Card along with Captain Sunshine and Super Duty!

Solwhit and Alderwood have been nice earners

On the plus side I did a few antepost doubles a while back doubling up Cue Card, Bobs Worth and On His Own for the National, along with losers Zarkandar and Pearl Swan in the BF Hurdle, so i've at least got a return to look forward to off that and now a very nice bet on the Grand National favourite.

I'm down for the festival because of antepost stuff but what i've bet this week i'm up a tiny amount!

That said i've really enjoyed it for some great moments like Sprinter Sacre, Bobs Worth and the new kid on the block Our Conor.

Most important concern though is JT McNamara, hope he pulls through fine.
Report sintonian March 15, 2013 11:55 PM GMT
Today saved my bacon, Conor and Bobsworth.

Still feel sick about RDS getting 4th. It not only knocked out a big ew single I had on him but a 5 time EW acca, ROR, The New One, RDS, Our Conor,Bobsworth, the place part would have returned 4 figures on it's own.
Report Tucho March 16, 2013 12:46 AM GMT
Ouch Sint, missing out by a head in a farce of a race like that. Sad

Ended up in front (nobody loses on betfair!) but still feel a bit gutted frankly. Was waiting on Sir Des Champs in a multiple and if he had won it would have been the best betting day of my life. Thought Bobs Worth would struggle today after missing his prep, you can't win a Gold Cup after being off for so long surely? And struggle he did for about 3 miles! No idea how he's won that race, wasn't traveling at all, but he's made it look easy enough in the end.

Missed out on all of the big priced handicap winners (as usual), best winners were probably Cue Card and Our Conor, all due respect and big thanks going to Nick Mordin's website, he gave superb recent ratings to both horses and was sure they'd both win.
Report Brooksielad March 16, 2013 8:52 AM GMT
Backed 2 winners Fly and Benefficent, they about got me level over the course of the week. But Ante Post money is by the wayside.

The unlucky ones Bobston Bob, Silviniaco Conti, the tent and to sum it up I nearly backed Salsify in running jumping the last but when the leader pulled out another length I didn't click the button! Whoops

All my Multiple bets had My Tent Or Yours in at 20/1 and If he'd have won I'd be about 5 grand up, fine lines between a cracking festival and a terible one.

Still think it was a good festival though, the novice hurdlers look **** hot this year. Crowned some good champions in The Fly, Sprinter Sacre and Bobs Worth. It's all set up to be a great season next year :)
Report buddeliea March 16, 2013 8:55 AM GMT

As usual a great week of racing, despite not going this year still feel completely drained.Savers on beneficient and carrickboy helpful, but not enough to get me out of negative equity.Boston bob, rival destruval, nagpur and the infamous oscar delta did not help!
About £750 down over the 4 days, worth every penny.
Report JOCI Club March 17, 2013 11:39 PM GMT
Ended up with 13 winners.

Champagne Fever 23/1
Simonsig 4/7
Golden Chieftain 36/1
Hurricane Fly 7/4
Quevega @8/11
The New One 5/1
Sprinter Sacre 1/4
Medinas 42.5/1
Our Conor 5/1
Ted Veale 11.5/1
At Fishers Cross various prices 4/1-5/1
Salsify 3.85/1
Alderwood 7/1

However, not my most successful Cheltenham interms of prize money, as I was trialling my system, and didn't want t0o go big stakes this year, and was treating it as more of an intellectual exercise. Nice to get the winners though, even if it wasn't the most financially rewarding.
Report Graeme83 March 19, 2013 3:18 PM GMT
I got a chunk of money back with a 74/1 treble, and singles at 11/4, 20/1 and 10/1. The hard luck stories were bloody numerous though. On another year things could have been so much different, especially if i had improved my timing and staking. Taking a look at some of these early ante post prices next year, well in short no thanks to them. These piss poor prices might save me money this time around, so hats off to the odds compilers for those. The flats will be upon us soon, and i'm certainly in no rush with those races either. I can't even be bothered with the Lincoln or the 1000 & 2000 guineas. I need a new hobby until the jumps start again !
Report rogerthebutler March 19, 2013 4:07 PM GMT
Profit on my bets but not on expenses for the week.

Same Difference in the Kim Muir was my biggest winner after I decided to follow Twiston-Davies blindly after The New One.

Would have been oh-so different had Oscar Delta won. Had that in a single and an each way multiple with Manyriverstocross and Double Ross on Friday.

Them's the breaks - don't like it, don't bet on the horses.
