When Denman got beat by Nicanor in 2006, his trainer offered the following:
"There was enormous pressure going into the race, but we'd done all we could with him and he ran a cracker. However, I'd have to say that two weeks after the Festival, he was better than he was at the Festival.
"He's a chestnut, and they are notoriously slow to come in their coats. All of ours were behind the rest of the string, and I think if you look at the results, you'll find that not one chestnut won at Cheltenham."
Does anyone think this holds any water at all? It's going to be pretty chilly at Cheltenham by the sounds of it.........
