In a word...NO!

I don't see why not.

They'll probably never meet, but Simonsig will probably be facing much stiffer opposition next year than Sprinter will imo.
Report Masterminded December 27, 2012 9:18 PM GMT
Not over 2 miles. He jumps well but Sprinter would take lengths out of him. Possibly could be more versatile though. Would surprise me if Nicky ran the 2 horses against each other tbh can see Simonsig stepped up next season.

Simonsig looks a freak to me & I think he'll win a Gold Cup.

As they are unlikely to ever race against each other, I presume the official handicapper will have the final word. I wouldn't care to speculate......

Hendo must be having kittens with this pair!

handicapper going to have to rate todays performance at least 166 methinks

I think Simonsig will have to prove he gets 3m in the KG for them to go for the GC, I can't imagine they would be satisfied with the Ryanair for Simonsig, so if he didn't get 3m I would expect to see him in next seasons Champion Chase

God knows,could be anything.
What i do know is that so far hes won 2 schooling sessions dressed up as races.
We should find out more as the season progresses, but as to which one will end up the better is anyones guess.
FWIW i think the same as others on here in that Simon will step up in trip next season and am fairly confident he will stay 3m,and SS will stay at 2m.

^^^^ Hinterland a good marker though Buddeliea and he gave it 11 pounds (I think) and a 35 l beating some going that ...performance of the season so far??
Report buddeliea December 28, 2012 8:01 AM GMT
oh yeh,it was a great performance at the weights, but it werent a race.
Thats cos hes a lot better than what hes faced so far.
The race in Ireland yesterday was a race.
Report festivalfanatic December 28, 2012 10:17 AM GMT
Schooling session or not budd, it was a very fast time - only 1.70 seconds slower than Sanctuaire though he did carry 2lbs more. Not his fault that he frightens the opposition off. FWIW, I'd say that Simonsig has some way to go before he is anything like as good a jumper as the monster but how many will? He clearly has an engine though and remember, this is not his ground!

The race at Leopardstown was the fastest run of the day on the course and AL may well be a serious Arkle contender. Be interesting to see what Mullins does with him, as he has already demonstrated stamina as well as speed. Trying to second guess Willie is a short route to the poor house.

I am not sure how we will be able to answer the question definitively because i fully expect Simonsig to be stepped up next yr if all goes well this yr. Personally not sure he needs to be stepped up, but suspect all connections will think it pointless running against SS when he clearly will get further than 2.
Report buddeliea December 28, 2012 12:11 PM GMT
Scaring what opposition FF??
To me that can only mean Overturn, cos the others are either trained by his trainer or running in Ireland.
Overturn's trainer  has been quoted as waiting for better ground for his next run.
Nowt wrong with that, although the way its going he may not get it for some time,so will probably have to run him soon anyway.

Barring an injury/fall/other mishap Simon is already over the line imo
