Seems baffling to me that he isn't even getting a mention for this yet is now very short in the betting for the Ryanair, which IMO has nowhere near the prestige of the QM.

The horse has the speed for 2m which he has proved on numerous occasions.

Yes it would bring him up against Sprinter Sacre but what a mouthwatering clash it would be - great for racing and the QMCC as a race.

Casey has said that there's a chance that he will run again over 2m around at Christmas. The intention is obviously for him to be a Gold Cup horse at some point but there's plenty of time for that next year and beyond.

Make it happen please Happy

agreed glossy in fact he was available on here at 50 for the qmcc a few weeks ago !last time i looked he was around 25

I agree, any horse that is effective at the distance to a high degree should be targeted at the queen mum rather than the anti- christ that is the ryanair.

I think he's a stayer tbh Shocked

The ryanair is a filthy race that will come into focus more so now we have such a dominant horse in SS,the ryanair will hinder to a degree SS's legacy.
Report resner not lesnar December 9, 2012 5:57 PM GMT
To be fair I don't think they've any intention of running in the Ryanair. Casey said today that the Gold Cup is the plan, as he's sure he'll stay the distance.
Report festivalfanatic December 9, 2012 6:00 PM GMT
if they wanted to dip their toe in the water in a grade 1 over 2 miles here, the Victor Chandler is an ideal opportunity. If he wins, he probably wins the QMCC, as he will have to beat the monster. My guess is he will dodge that and turn up in the Ryanair.

Casey said: "I'm delighted with that, and he's still not ready!

"He'll go to Leopardstown at Christmas and will get three miles. I've never had any doubt about him getting three miles.

"We'll have to see how he comes out of this race first. He'll be entered for the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase as well as the Lexus.

"I don't want to get to the bottom of him at this stage and, if we feel it's best for the horse, he could go for the two-mile race at Christmas.

"The Gold Cup is still the plan long term."
Report Glossy December 9, 2012 6:35 PM GMT
resner, it depends on your interpretations of 'long term'.
Report alexmillwall December 9, 2012 6:41 PM GMT
gold cup in march no doubt, although he looks a fairly heavy horse im sure decent ground will bring about an improvement as flemensfirths tend to do.
Report resner not lesnar December 9, 2012 6:45 PM GMT
I know what you're saying, but if they think he stays 3 miles now then I would say it means GC this season. If not this season then the fact they're happy to run him over 2 miles would suggest the QMCC is the other option they would consider not the Ryanair.

I don't think they'd dodge SS if they believe in their horse which they seem to.

So Flemenstar may run in the Dial a Bet Chase? If so then why hasn't he been given an entry? I have major concerns about the trainer's ability to get the most out of a top quality horse.

Good man Mr Casey.

Peter Casey tells the Racing Post "all that's certain is the Hennessy" for Flemenstar with his Cheltenham Festival target still to be decided. Full story to follow . . . (34 mins ago)

It can be a nice earner for connections - scatter red herrings around regarding running plans and lay off at your leisure.
Report baNjackst December 31, 2012 7:32 PM GMT
Be very careful. Casey has always stated that Fleminstar is a very bad traveler and that's why he didn't take the horse to Cheltenham last year. If its a thing that Casey doesn't believe the horse will stay the Gold Cup trip ( which now looks apparent) I doubt if he will sent him across the water at all and that he will campaign him for punchestown.
Report tweedledumbtweedletwat December 31, 2012 10:32 PM GMT
hasnt he said the horse has improved as a traveller, and that the horse will come to england in march even if he had to carry him himself
Report tweedledumbtweedletwat December 31, 2012 10:34 PM GMT
doent matter if he wins the irish hennessy, gold cup is 3m2f..
henderson knows hes just got to keep bobsworth fit
Report Monksfield79 December 31, 2012 11:49 PM GMT
knowing peter casey, id believe that should flemenstar travel, which is expected it will be for a Gold Cup only. He won't waste his time on a ryanair chase which he doesn't rate.
