Every week I change my mind about which horse wins the Gold Cup Cue Card/Flemenstar/ Al Ferof/ Silviniaco Conti/Bobs Worth/ First Lieutenant/Tidal Bay.
Report mushroom23 December 1, 2012 3:53 PM GMT
Me too Steamship, for now I have it down to two. Sir Des Champs and Bobs Worth!

Still got Sprinter Sacre to come out yet Tongue Out

Cue Card is my pick for the best of the stayers though, pi$$ up in the KG and be favourite for the Gold Cup?? CrazyDevil

Laugh

but you never know in this game!!
Report judorick December 1, 2012 5:18 PM GMT
there is NOTHING to say that Cue Card cannot be the best of the second season chasers, nothing at all and until tried no one can say for sure so you can laugh all you want at this point

that win in the Haldon Gold Cup marks him down as a serious horse indeed - winning by 27 lengths off 157 makes him at least a 170 horse already and as I have explained many horses with similar profiles have improved a stone or more when they run in the King George. Someone seriously rates the horse because he has shortened considerably for both the KG and CGC.
Report buddeliea December 1, 2012 5:30 PM GMT
i was laughing at the comment, not your post Judo.

I agree CC could be the best out of the lot of them, also one of the others could.
Report dj876 December 1, 2012 6:14 PM GMT
Cue Card has a decent chance in the King George because of the flat track and best chance of seeing out 3m,but to make such statements as  "piss up in the king George and then favourite for the gold cup"is novicey (being kind).I would make him about a 6/1 shot in the KG,your talking like he should be even money, with so many unanswered questions and conditions such as ground, trip and opposition that is ridiculous. In my experience it's not too wise to be so dogmatic but perhaps your speaking tongue in cheek.
Report Quvega December 1, 2012 6:44 PM GMT
I would be amazed, frankly, if Cue Card won the GC

Was thinking exactly that on my way home from work this evening Howdi. This really does seem to be a hell of a group of 2nd season chasers. There may not be a Kauto (or there may still!),  but there are any number that look top drawer and yet we still don't know if there's more to come. Exciting times.

I thought Bobs Worth won very nicely today, particularly for a horse that never wins by big margins or in a flashy way. Proved he stays the GC trip which a few still have to do for sure, although in his case I don't think anyone was in doubt over the trip.

Be interesting to see if Flemenstar & SDC go head to head next week in the John Durkan, hard to see them being much more impressive than BW today, but then again Cue Card was impressive, For Non Stop was impressive, Al Ferof, Silviniaco Conti....................

gold cup looks another tough year for punting...lots of likely types and all improving...tough to say the very least from a punting point of view
Report Howdi December 1, 2012 9:55 PM GMT
bout time you put a post worth reading!!

Not fussed about punting gold cup, just revelling in the thought that it could be one hell of a race!!
Report FOYLESWAR December 2, 2012 10:48 AM GMT
a poster stated that there may not be a kauto this year .........yet ! my way of thinking is that this year there could be 4or 5 this season  a few years back it was kauto and denman who had it to themselves really, and the general thinking was  we would wait ages to see 2 of thier like come along ,but the way last seasons novices are performing (we seem to be seeing a potential superstar every week ,we could  really in fact have 5 or6 "kautos" this season cue card, alferof ,slivinio, flemenstar, bobs worth  for non stop,,have all put up cracking performances and we still have sir des champs and others to throw their  hats into the ring  and we are only a few weeks into the season .potentially this new dawn of staying chasers could be even better than the kauto and denman era .and is great for the game   and exciting times ahead for jumps fans .gentlemen our cup runneth over !

Totally agree Foyles! Ryanair & Gold Cup are shaping up as tremendous renewals this season.
Report FOYLESWAR December 2, 2012 11:31 AM GMT

Makes me even more gutted about Spirit Son. Had a bit with stan James at 20's in the summer as had a feeling with a clear campaign, and given age, he'd be the one for CH
