Evening all, thought it's worth having a go at this again to see how our eyes and ears can maybe help us get some value on the run up to the festival.Any info welcome as are all replies....let the fun commence
Battle Group is a bit of a rascal but follow the money if he's punted. He's owned by the same bunch of guys that own Kazlian and he's another one to follow when the money's down

battle group would finish 2nd in a seller and 2nd in a cheltenham race, coral cup for son of flicka, also johnjo has the nephew and mr watson that have been running on heavy ground over the wrong trip, look out for both of them in handicaps, hopefully not in the coral cup though !

Was hoping that Court Minstrel might be a lively Supreme outsider but much better than current mark. Be interesting to see where they go with him as unlikely to get in County at the moment. If they make cut in betfair may well take their chance or perhaps take a real flyer by trying to pick up penalty in Imperial Cup and going for the lolly.
I think someone else has mentioned Prospect Wells. Slightly surprised he was left unchanged after the Long Walk but given how he's going to improve for normal festival conditions he'll have a real chance in whichever race they point him, probably the Coral Cup but may save him for Harry.

First time out after an impressive third in the Wm Hill Chase at last years festival (for which he's been raised a whole pound!). Runs over 2m5f today. Likely to come on for this with the Festival his main target I reckon

Agree about Our Mick but problem will be if he comes up against Wyck Hill in the 3 miler as he looks really well treated given what Katenko has done.
May have been mentioned before but Thomas Edison was travelling very easily and not being put in the race before he was brought down.

Barbatos in the Coral Cup. Given a nice pipe opener over an inadequate trip in the 2m handicap hurdle that closed out Cheltenham's Festival Trials card.

Ronaldo Des Mottes - County Hurdle major Pipe Plot on here. Look up his last run wasn't put in the race and ran a cracker.
Everyone needs to get on there thinking caps because some of the plots flagged up here are very poor.

He's entered in the Arkle, Pipe stated in RP recently that he'd jump a fence sooner rather than later and he was entered in novice chase at Taunton tomorrow before the weather intervened.Admittedly, he might be running out of time and suitable races to embark upon a novice chase campaign.
If they do go for Betfair Hurdle, he runs risk of blowing his mark. I thought bonus was for winning Imperial Cup and any race at festival but there may be another one for Betfair Hurdle and County Hurdle, I'd have to check that.
Before you dismiss other people's plots as very poor, you might want to do a bit more research on your own.

not so much a plot but Manyriverstocross ran a really nice race in the Betfair Hurdle after over two years off yesterday - would perhaps be of interest in the County Hurdle,or more likely, Coral Cup if there's no bounce.

He is has great form lines with Zarkander and grandoet, acts at the track, he was never placed to win in his qualifier, and protected his mark by beating Peddlers Cross in NH Flat race recently. Will improve for the step upto 3m miles and looks like a good Handicap favourite. Can see this being punted into 5/2 on the day.
Take the 6's now!! Or smash it on the day!
Good luck all!

what about General Miller in Coral Cup? Gentle reintroduction after long absence at Ascot on Saturday and conspicuous omission from Hendo's RP Cheltenham stable tour this morning (I'm taking latter as a +ve not a -ve!)

Prefer Manyriverstocross for the C0r@l Cup at this early stage.
Ran well in the Betfair Hurdle after ages off, during which time his handicap mark has plummeted. Needs a race run at a decent clip - be interested to see if King enters him for the CC

Backed him for the Betfair at huge odds for the reasons above (his Greatwood third behind Menorah looks impressive, even this far down the line). I knew my fate at Newbury with the pootling pace they went - he needs a gallop at any distance - but was far from displeased with this comeback effort. Think he will have enough time to recover to make any 'bounce' factor an irrelevance.
Just be good to see him in the decs for starters.

agreed, also backed him for Betfair ew at 66/1 - one of those when even though the bet went down, you knew there would be another day.
Good luck, Roger - I guess they could conceivably go for the County but agree Coral Cup looks the right race.

Big ask for an 11yr old, but clearly Catch Me is having a go at repeating last year. Very quiet season last year then ran a blinder to be second in the Pertemps Final, and arguably could have won with a bit more luck in running.

Minella Class for the coral. top class novice and a really eye catching run at newbury (take a look)over too far on too soft a ground, gave the wide outside to no one and traveled best of anything until 3 out. no other entries but the coral cup. 50-1 with hills.

Edeymi (Tony Martin) county hurdle/ martin pipe[/i]
I thought much the same though assumed the Coral Cup would be the plan (he's not in the County entries) - took 16/1 nrnb with VCbet for the Coral Cup. Will cover on the Martin Pipe as well.

At the risk of spoiling the price as I have not had a bet yet, I think that Bouggler could be interesting in the Pertemps. He is hard to keep sound so I won't be backing him until the day.

Sam Winner, Sam Winner, Sam Winner. It's probably obvious to you all already but i don't think you will not find a better plotted horse then this one. He is at least a stone ahead of the handicapper at the moment. IMO. His record over hurdles at Cheltenham is excellent and who could forget the way he came up the hill in the Triumph, beaten by a couple of now CH frontrunners. Still untested over 3m but don't think it will be an issue given he was staying on at the finish in the Qualifier race over 2m 6f with the ground conditions totally against him. Also helps when the master PN says these things about him "we haven't seen the best of him yet over hurdles" and "i think the trip will bring out the best of him". Already backed him NRFB @ 11/2 but will be doubling up if he gets his favoured "Good" ground on the day. glta.

This one's been on my watch list this season. Think he definitely has a big handicap in him but after my rant above about Sam Winner, it better not be the Pertemps. Will have a saver just in case. gltu.

Carlito Brigante - Few sighters over the fences earlier in the season then had a quiet spin on the a/w last week. Won the Coral Cup off 142. When last seen his OR was 140 over fences, which is the ceiling rating for the Novice Handicap on Day One.

have been doing handicap entries today and have spotted a few with plenty in hand, just need to see final decs, will post them then, too speculative now regarding targets - all chasers by the way, hurdlers are much trickier

I think he may have had a wind op in summer, it's quite common for a tongue strap to be fitted after a wind op.
BJG emailed Twister to ask him if he has.
I've backed him e/w 25/1 and he'll be on my list to follow the money if/when it comes for him at the track. Along with Son of Flicka of course.

Quanty will be back on 145 I'd say, and he's another to keep an eye on.
Can't go from good enough to try in a Grade 1 at end of last year to no hoper. Looks a plot.

bensalem carried 11st-2lb in 2011 (when rated 143, same as he is now) taking the provisional top weight for this years race into account that have ratings, bold sir brian 155 = 11-12lb and he was to run, that would give bensalem 11st, but that is based on bold sir brian.

Bold Sir Brian is entered at Kelso on Saturday and I seem to recall his trainer saying they might go there and bypass the festival - he needs a confidence booster after his crashing fall in the Argento - I s'pose it's conceivable he could run in both if he performs well on Sat and comes out of the race bouncing.

I'm interested in if Dursy Sound turns up here, certainly not his running lto and has a very favourable mark. It's a Gimme could also turn up here, he's won over 2m4f before.
Both interest.

Katkeau still in betting for Martin Pipe when he surely won't get it.
I went through the entries and Edmund Kean is the only Pipe horse I can see going off fav unless Gervy Chambertan runs.

CVByrne 26 Feb 13 16:49 Edmund Kean, 1 entry and probably be Pipe's Imperial Cup oss too. Will be smashed up soon I'd imagine.
It wasn't the horse I had in mind but I think you might be right CV. Just had a ton @14/1 nrnb with Victor - if he runs Gevrey Chambertain elsewhere at Cheltenham then this will surely be much shorter.
Some suggestion he will aim Edmund Kean at the EBF final at Sandown instead - but thats what nrnb is for.

@Moose I must have missed that A/w spin for Carlito, decent cheltenham form, two wins and I like the beating of Doomtaline who may not have won but has been a very reliable yardstick. Very interesting considering his mark has come down by three pounds for what was not a disastrous run behind Dynaste.
Much prefer him for the Pultney as think 2m 4f is the correct distance (C&D winner in October) and would have some of the best hurdles form of any runner in the race. He could be a lot better than an OR 137.

Fallen Angel - I'm not convinced he is the most natural of jumpers, but he will be a very well handicapped horse who is used to big field, hurdles at least, festival races and with a trainer who wouldn't be adverse to plotting one up. Though he did have a similar prep last year and ended up being pulled up

Hollow Tree is still to be let loose over 2.5m+. Has three entries and will arrive with a with a profile a bit like Son of Flicka last year.

I think the last run can be ignored. It just had the entry to qualify for the Pertemps Final, but will be surprised if he goes for the 3m race at Cheltenham.

Hisaabaat in the County. Hardly thrown in off 148 but D Weld said after Punchestown last year he would be a Champion hurdle horse for 2014 and the Triumph has worked out pretty well with the winner now rated 156, 3rd 152 and 4th 156. Ignore his runs this year as he clearly needs a big field/strong pace to be at his best. Handles all ground and loved the way he travelled and jumped at Chelters and Punchestown. Other big plus is that the blinkers will be back on (strangely left off last year). Weld hasnt had a winner at the festival for a long while but a trainer of his quality will surely but that right one day. Friday perhaps?

Spooky. Was wondering if Weld ever uses a claimer for his horses as i think a few pounds off his back would help when I look at the RP website to see that Michael Dolan (5) is booked to ride the very same horse! Dont know a great deal about him other than he rides for Richard Lee. Does anyone know if hes related to Paul Dolan as he obviously used to ride in Ireland. Just wondered why theyve chosen him. Also noticed that the Triumph 6th Sadlers Risk who was beaten 6 lengths by Hisaabaat is in the Coral Cup off 150 so all things considered hes on an acceptable mark, just looking for good runs from Dodging Bullets and Countrywide flame on Tuesday and think that 33-1 with Corals is good e/w material.

Think I have just found the Martin Pipe winner (assuming Eedeymi doesn't run in it) and it's bound to be a massive gamble too - all will be revealed.
The horse I was referring to was Make Your Mark - he is running so time to lump on.
