Well Guimness was £4.50 a pint. Serves you right for having a girly drink!
Report JOCI Club November 18, 2012 7:55 PM GMT
£8.70
Report Glossy November 18, 2012 7:58 PM GMT
I was on the pints but a female friend of mine was drinking vodka and lemonade (singles) - £5.70.
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 18, 2012 8:11 PM GMT
£9.20 !!!

And it was a 200ml can of orange.

I dont like to drink alcohol when at the races, i need to concentrate.

That's shocking Sonko. You expect to pay a bit more than you would in the pub but that's just taking the p1ss.
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 18, 2012 8:15 PM GMT
you cant justify it, can you.

I was paying more £2.30 for the lemonade, thats more than a cost of a 2 litre bottle.
Report Mr Eboue November 18, 2012 8:17 PM GMT
Hip flask of tea is the way forward.
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 18, 2012 8:20 PM GMT
When i went to wimbledon they let you take a picnic in, that is how to treat the paying customer.
Report Mr Eboue November 18, 2012 8:25 PM GMT
Indeed. Same at Lords. I took a hamper in.
Report strontium November 18, 2012 8:40 PM GMT
To their credit, Sandown Park allow this as well. it is a little annoying most racecourses don't.
Report gutfeeling November 18, 2012 9:08 PM GMT
Gold Cup 2 years ago a couple behind me in the stands had a picnic hamper..Reminded me of a Fast Show sketch,The point when she said she'd have 50p on Kauto Star as he is "Quite good" pissed me off more than the offer of a salmon sandwich cut into triangles..
Report festivalfanatic November 18, 2012 10:17 PM GMT
i think you'll find that if officials find alchohol on you going in, they'll confiscate it.
Report bluebirdfan November 21, 2012 10:39 AM GMT
Email Cheltenham and complain, they need to start listening to punters
Report rogerthebutler November 21, 2012 10:55 AM GMT
It's a bloody outrage.

Cheltenham has so much going for it and face it, we love the place, the racing, the atmos, the memories.

Given all this goodwill, beutiful setting etc they just take our good intentions and throw them back in our face time and again. From the false going reports, the 'pile them all in' nature of Gold Cup day, the rip-off food and drink prices and the patronising marketing - and that's before you even get to the 4day / 5 day festival debate.

You can make decent profits looking after and enhancing your core product and customers - look at Ascot who have courted controversy in imposing the dress code, because they understand that it's more important to be true to their customer base rather than change their product in pursuit of a mass market. Cheltenham could deal fair with their core customers and educate / look after those with a passing interest, elevating them from casual customers to passionate advocates.

Instead they choose to chisel every last penny out of anyone who coes within the orbit of Prestbury Park.
Report FOYLESWAR November 21, 2012 11:07 AM GMT
well i suppose one consolation is you wont see many annoying drunken racegoers at chelters ,at those prices they cant afford to get p**sed !
Report bluebirdfan November 21, 2012 12:07 PM GMT
As I've said, contact them. Only when they start to recieve large negative feedback will we see a response
Report rogerthebutler November 21, 2012 12:20 PM GMT
Or better still, get on their Facebook page and next time one of their asinine 'Hit Like if you think Big Bucks is great' messages come through, go to town on them in there.

You're a lot more visible and you might engender a few more similarly p1ssed off customers to vent spleen, to the effect blubirdfan highlights above
Report bluebirdfan November 21, 2012 12:44 PM GMT
Exactly, in this day and age there are many ways of venting frustration at a 'product' in the public eye and so companies are far more likely to respond to it

Guess how much to get in  today at Newbury (thursday) ?
Report shockster November 29, 2012 4:18 PM GMT
Nothing it's an RUK day and typically I'm going tomorrow and Friday. Think I got a double Brandy and Coke last year at Newbury and was over £7.  Will stick to Guiness or cider.  Bring it on.Excited
Report Ibrahima Sonko November 29, 2012 5:09 PM GMT

Report buddeliea November 29, 2012 7:04 PM GMT

Report shockster November 29, 2012 7:41 PM GMT
Haydock was £22 for The Paddock last Saturday, not sure about Premier.
Report bluebirdfan December 3, 2012 10:36 AM GMT
Premier was £35 but if you order your tickets in September you get it for half price
Report windsor knot December 4, 2012 4:48 PM GMT
last week ludlow was £21 in members ...£16 for tatts where the toilets were blocked , the food bar was like a scene from a prison canteen and the steppings were very slippy 'cos they could not be bothered to grit them ....ruk had a tent where anyone could walk in and it was a lifesaver .
