Anyone know the plan for this one please? I see he has an entry in the Hattons Grace. Does that suggest Champion Hurdle or a further step up into Stayers' territory? Doesn't lack speed but I seem to remember Meade saying he'd be stepped up in trip now (might have imagined that actually). Anyone got any ideas?
I think he'd have to make giant strides forward if he is to figure in the CH or WH.
Not sure what reasons were given after the Neptune, but was disappointed with his performance and needs to improve a massive amount imo.

He was all but stopped in the Neptune at the 2nd(?) last. I was hoping he'd go chasing this year but would interested in him for the WH if we knew he was being stepped up

I suppose Finians and the Giant Bolster came 5th and 6th in a Neptune and then went on to win a QMCC and runner up in a Gold Cup, so might of been a bit harsh on Monksland.
Just rewatched the race and didn't realise that he was hampered. He definitely looks more like a stayer than a speedster to me, so I think he'd be better going up in trip because it looked like he was stuggling to keep up with Simonsig and Cotton Mill when the pace quickened.
After his last race Noel Meade said: "I had it in my head to go chasing with him, but Seamus (Hunt) said I was mad as he has had only three hurdle runs.
"My assistant trainer and travelling head lad also go into my ear about it so we went hurdling.
"He jumped a bit moderately and he missed the last one. He got a bit tired in the end. I know he gets two and a half miles so we'll step him up to that next time."

Very pleased to see this one win today, have got a tiny amount on at 60 for the WH on here. Hopeful more than confident, but more hopeful since the unfortunate injury to Big Bucks and today's victory
