Nap (bet of the season to date). Menorah should be getting weight from him.

Looks a very poor renewal I must say my good man.

Cue card, if jumping stays sound, looks a decent bet at odds against.

Eboue - Last tipped a winner in 2005 and occasional guesser on Howdi's thread.

Should be called "Howdi's occasional fact if he can be bothered" imo.
Report duffy November 5, 2012 6:26 PM GMT
Cue card for me too, bit surprised that they're starting off here as a stepping stone to the KG
duffy- advocate of cue card to remain at 2 miles this season and still waiting for howdi versus his mate 10 to follow...list A OR B to be posted (even tough his mate hasn't paid up yet for the past 8 years)Grin

MORE TONIGHT ONE A DAY NOW UNTIL THE FESTIVAL
Report judorick November 5, 2012 6:40 PM GMT
aww I miss poor old Twist Magic who was a regular in this

anyway I will be having a back to lay on Renard for Venetia
Report festivalfanatic November 5, 2012 9:23 PM GMT
I think Tizzard will be mortified if Cue Card doesn't win this. Yard in good form and horse comes to hand early. Absolutely agree with Howdi's comment about Menorah.
Report judorick November 5, 2012 9:45 PM GMT
yes no doubt the form is very strong but there's no margin in the price at all

I expect Renard will trade much shorter than the current 12/13 and I will get as much on as I can at the price

and I can't see anything else challenging the fav
Report CVByrne November 5, 2012 10:55 PM GMT
He should win but he's too short to back, with not only Menorah to face, but Edgardo Sol and a Nicholls in fine form.

Watching brief here. I am a fan of Cue Card and hope he wins.
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:46 AM GMT
Watching brief is very sensible early in the season my friend, fitness etc, especially in a race with a short price fav,and with horses coming out of novice season.
To be honest i would not be that surprised should any of the front 3 win,but i shall be cheering on Judos outsider.
Report judorick November 6, 2012 10:27 AM GMT
I know you don't trade prices Budd - but's that's what I'm doing here. I've got enough on at 12.67 average now and the plan is to trade out for an even green, meaning I don't expect Renard to win but unless CC wins with his head in his chest there has to be a very good chance that Renard could shorten up plenty
Report joevalue147 November 6, 2012 11:06 AM GMT
Jesus wept Judorick he really are a brainless mug. Renard isnt within 3 classes of the main players and may need the run if past seasons are anything to go on. Stick to the all weather chum.  hth
Report judorick November 6, 2012 11:29 AM GMT
where did I say he was? you are the clueless one I'm afraid so much so that I won't bother explaining what I am doing. Just keep doing what you do. Clearly not studied the race because Renard has already had a recent run (only one in the race that has by the way) and it is a handicap which is why he carries 16lb less than CC - and that's why he will trade much shorter in running later today

hth

Laugh

Understand Judo,good luck.
Report GoldCupWinner November 6, 2012 1:10 PM GMT
Backed Cue Card last night at 2.1 so happy enough. Wouldn't fancy Renard on for but he is the only horse race fit and sometimes early season results can be funny.
Report sintonian November 6, 2012 1:42 PM GMT
In fairness Venetia's horses going better at this time of year than normal, she's had a few winners.

My form is dire right now so might have jinxed it but i'm afraid to say off level weights with ES and receiving from Menorah, plus his fto record,i've backed CC at 10/11.
Report festivalfanatic November 6, 2012 2:56 PM GMT
For those who think the monster beat nothing in the Arkle, I suggest you think again. This is a good horse. Sprinter Sacre is exceptional.
Report festivalfanatic November 6, 2012 2:58 PM GMT
Hope you took your profit judo - your strategy was spot on.
Report GoldCupWinner November 6, 2012 4:19 PM GMT
This race hasn't told us anything different from the arkle tbf. We already knew Cue Card was that much superior to Menorah anyway and Edgardo Sol is just a high class handicapper. Hasn't done the form any harm all the same.
Report FOYLESWAR November 6, 2012 4:26 PM GMT
it also tells us he has no problem racing right handed !
Report GoldCupWinner November 6, 2012 4:44 PM GMT
Ah yeah, hadn't noticed he had not ran that way before!
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 5:25 PM GMT
Well the race told me that Menorah still has jumping problems, and probably needs to go hurdling.
EDS aint up to this level.

Cue Card was impressive, but learnt no more about the distance hes best at.

Tizzards will be delighted with the manner of this victory but it is graded races only from now on as his handicap mark will be shot. I think his racing style makes staying 3 miles a real challenge, even round Kempton. His second in the Srkle was a top effort and time will show that he is is a very good horse at up to 2 and a half miles.
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:00 PM GMT
yep,i think time will show hes useful up to 2 and half, although after Al Ferof ballsed up and with Menorahs dodgy jumping,i aint sure how CC could not have finished 2nd!!
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:01 PM GMT
and he was well beaten in the Arkle.
Report festivalfanatic November 6, 2012 7:06 PM GMT
Not quite as badly as everything else! Other than the monster, I suspect only SDC put up a better performance in the novice chase events at the Festival.
Report Far From Trouble November 6, 2012 7:15 PM GMT
Well beaten in the Arkle but far, far from disgraced against what will prove to be a superstar im

Reckon the Ryanair is tailor made for him tbh
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:33 PM GMT
well the fact is he was beaten comfortably in the Arkle,in what turned out be be a pretty uncompetitive race
once AF made the mistake.
How good he ends up is anyones guess, same as Sprinter Sacre, although obviously SS is a lot better than CC over 2m.

He will now step up in distance and maybe soon we will find out which distance his future lies.
See they are talking about the Betfair chase,if he runs there we will know.
Report findthevalue November 6, 2012 7:34 PM GMT
expect big things from cue card this season...the next best 2 miler in training after the sensation that is sprinter sacre

sadly for him he can't beat the henderson beast over the minimum trip...step him up to 2.5 miles and he'll be a leading player in the all the big races throughout the season...exciting times ahead
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:41 PM GMT
next best 2 miler!!

better than all the QM horses from last season!!!!

cannot for the life of me see what substance that is based on.
Report Far From Trouble November 6, 2012 7:42 PM GMT
Not sure he's the second best 2 miler! Sizing Europe and Finian's Rainbow may have something to say about that!
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:45 PM GMT
exactly, and i would add Sanctuiare to those 2
Report Far From Trouble November 6, 2012 7:48 PM GMT
Not sure about Sancy yet, has previous of being a nutcase Silly
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:52 PM GMT
Yeh,over hurdles running differently.

Front running over fences,no problem, and Sandown aint an easy place to go and put on a display of jumping as he did.
Report festivalfanatic November 6, 2012 7:52 PM GMT
Well it's all a bit irrelevant really because the only way he will be campaigned at 2 miles is if something goes wrong with Sprinter Sacre. I don't think Cue Card will be officially rerated above a number of last season's QM aspirants on that performance but neither do I feel that Tizzard would be frightened of any of them.
Report findthevalue November 6, 2012 7:54 PM GMT
i'm very sureWink no doubt in my mind that the arkle was a stronger race than the champion chase and i say that as massive fan of sizing europe

i dont think either the old boy nor finnians rainbow would have finished any closer to ss  than cue card did in the arkle...it was incredible display of power and menace from sprinter sacre

maybe sactuiare might prove a fly in the ointment if he follows up on that run at sandown,,,,who knows
Report buddeliea November 6, 2012 7:58 PM GMT
Sanctuaire at Sandown was every bit as impressive as SS was in the Arkle imo

Cant wait till they meet.

As for FR and SE not doing any better than CC had they been in the Arkle........no comment!!!
Report festivalfanatic November 6, 2012 7:58 PM GMT
You might be right ftv but at this stage, neither the official handicapper nor Timeform share your view!
Report GoldCupWinner November 6, 2012 8:00 PM GMT
My gut instinct is that he won't stay but had a trip down memory lane and seem to remember Kicking King and WOA getting beat in the arkle but then winning the GC. It's exciting indeed.
Report Howdi November 6, 2012 8:19 PM GMT
Good thread by originator and congrtaulations on tipping up the first two big races of the season.

By the balls he has this game Plain
Report sintonian November 6, 2012 10:30 PM GMT
I think there are one or two people out there who still cant see how good sprinter sacre is.

Yes he thumped Cue Card, but that's not a reason to knock CC, a relative comparison would be that Frankel routinely thumped Excelebration who was a triple Group1 winner himself. Get the point?

If it wasn't CC getting ''well beaten'' by SS then it would be something else.
Report FOYLESWAR November 7, 2012 6:12 AM GMT
well done howdi lad .
Report buddeliea November 7, 2012 7:45 AM GMT
Cant speak for others Sint, but as far as im concerned i aint knocking CC at all, just stating facts re the Arkle, and wondering what his best distance is??
As for Sprinter,i will reserve judgement till i see him take on the best around,im like that!!
For me he has yet to run in  race against the likes of Sanctuaire and last seasons QM horses, and when he does i will come on here and say what i think.
Report sintonian November 7, 2012 11:47 AM GMT
Sounds like you rate Santuaire above SS Budde, even though he has achieved significantly less.

Not that long until the Tingle Creek anyway.
Report buddeliea November 7, 2012 12:12 PM GMT
Eh!
Not sure where you have got that idea from Sint.
I have said that imo Sanct at Sandown was just as impressive as any display i saw from SS last season, but i reserve judgement on which one is the better till they meet.
