Doesn't seem to buy as many horses these days since his association with HJ ended, Obviously he moved some of the horses HJ trained for him to other trainers (Mullins & Nicholls) and sold a lot on too, But has he actually bought any new stock since his split with HJ? What about this season? Will he be sending any new stock to any trainers,Novices etc?? i think he's getting a bit fed up with the game,i may be wrong though. it will be a real shame if he is as he's been great for the sport over the years and nobody could begrudge him a few Grade 1 winners, His colours are synonymous to the National Hunt scene,Hopefully he stays around and gets a real special one soon.
Maybe he's realised how much HJ and the Irish Point winner owners have taken him for a ride of many many years. Makes me wonder how these people are so successful in life/business when they have so little judgement.

He has bought a few new ones this summer and obviously last yr got involved in Pacha Du Polder with PFN.
I do think he was fleeced before and I think it was a mistake relying on HJH to buy bloodstock.

Leaving him with only an estimated £180 million to go.
Some might argue that what he's spent has been worth it for Inglis Driver, Arclais and Tidal Bay. What's a Festival win "worth"?

It's a matter of perspective. It's a huge amount of money, but it's only 10-15% of his money. I'd consider spending 10% of my money for 6 Festival winners.

Not just any festival winners, but The Drever! For all Big Bucks has achieved, I doubt he will ever capture the heart of NH lovers like that fella, one of my all time favourite horses. I imagine in the 10-15 years that he has been associated with the sport, his £200M has netted more than he has spent on the game, besides, outside of buying a football club, you can't spunk away that kind of money. I'd chuck another £100M at it in a heartbeat, if I was him.

Exactly Stront. He'll be well into the millions in trainers fees as well (although a lot of that will be cancelled out by what must be a pretty impressive prize money haul). But as you say, its all relative.
He's quite clever in the sense that everyone thinks he owns all of his horses because they run in his colours, but many are only part owned, to spread the costs a bit.

But surely he realises it was mainly down to HJ and his bloodstock agent that he blew so much with little in return? As sintonian rightly points out,Let Mr Nicholls and Mr Mullins people look after the purchasing of horses now he's no longer with HJ, But whatever you do,Don't purchase another Washington irving!

Is "he blew so much with little in return" his opinion though, or yours?
He may consider his 6 Festival wins and countless other wins worth it. He's also won about £5m in prize money to offset some of his costs. If he intended it as an investment he wouldn't be a jump racing owner.

its also mainly down to HJ that hes had winners at the festival, inc a multiple champion. Its not as if hes had no success, and as been pointed out,if he were that bothered about losing he would not be a NH race horse owner. Blokes had a fair slice of winners at the top level, luckier than a lot of owners in this game i would think.

I'd also add that Wylie as publically very supportive of Johnson both before and after his ban - it's hard to conclude he thought he'd been ripped off at that time.

Wylie is either very smart to maintain his great gentleman image and knows deep down he's been had like a kipper or extremely naive. I'd lean to the former.

I would be astonished if the figure was even half 25m, adjusted for training fees / prize money / endorsement of jockeys (many benefitted very well). He has spent carelessly IMO(and has made a lot more than me so can hapilly ignore my views!) but even though he has bought more than a few On Raglan Roads and Door Boys, it would surely not be near that figure. Nowhere near.
As a few have said, however, he is not short and days like Inglis Drever are rare indeed. Priceless for a man with such means I imagine. I think his buying policy has been misguided and probably based on bad advice but i have a lot of time for the man.
