Think your being a bit tough on him. Yes in bad ground he looked Awesome and will probably clean up under such conditions. Beef or Salmon was brilliant, but couldn't win at Cheltenham.

Think he is a great trade though take 10s can see him been 5s by winning two crap races - name and reputation alone. Won't face competition we have in UK.
This beast does seem to stay forever and has a future over fences imo - not saying he'll win RSA though.

I had abig bet on Boston Bob at Cheltenham and a few points i would make in the horses defence are 1. Walsh rode him with plenty confidence and may have given the horse too much to do 2. Some of Mullins horses ran below par at the Festival and maybe this lad did to. 3. He didnt run again which is unlike Mullins as he usually runs nearly everything at Punchestown, which may indicate horse came back from Cheltenham with a problem.
All ifs and buts i accept but i was so impressed with Boston Bob before Cheltenham that i wont be writing him off after 1 so called below par run.Time will tell.

Finishing placed in a Graded hurdle at the Cheltenham festival is a fine effort. This horse was always going to be a chaser so write him off at your peril. The ''bad ground bog'' races he won were with penalties. Dont read into the fact he was beaten at Evens in March. So was Denman in the Neptune!

Astonishing to think that Mullins actually considered running this horse in the Neptune. Will he be qualified for the NH Chase?.....more his trip, slow as a boat.

Yes, he would be. That's a little harsh though. While I'm sure he'll get 4 miles he's worth trying over 3! Could well be a Welsh/Irish National type next season if his mark's not been blown.

We were getting the same cráp from a lot of people here with Hurricane Fly,people saying he was beating nothing on bad ground, Boston Bob will be twice the horse over fences imo

Maybe so CR, but one of my stronger memories of the last Festival is BB inching towards Brindisi Breeze for about 10 furlongs but never looking like catching him (depsite the urgings of the commentator - Cattermole was it?). Of course Brindisi might have been a special horse - sadly we'll never know - but Boston might just be a slow, bad ground specialist.
He was massively hyped before the last Festival and his performace must be regarded as disappointing on that basis; perhaps he got found out. Stormey makes some excellent points, and the horse could improve a lot for fences, but I'm firmly in the "yet to be convinced" camp.

I was in the pre parade for most races at the festival and Willie Mullins horses didn't look good, they came up very light. BB and Felix Younger were the exceptions tho, both are sizeable and scopey beasts and they performed accordingly, BB jumped hurdles like fences, reminds alot of Denman dare i say.

Liam, changing the subject slightly, do you manage to see the horses in the pre-parade ring and find a good spot to watch the races? If so, how do you do it?

stront,i 100% agree that he's a massive hype horse,i didn't back him at Cheltenham for that exact reason and just though his price was ridiculous, There are certain horses you can just tell by looking at them that Chasing will be their game, and thats why i think this fella will be a top chaser, as liam says,he jumped his hurdles like fences,if we forget that massive hype that was put upon him last season he actually had a perfectably respectable campaign imo

Yep, i can easily get to a spot i use just above the arkle bar or obv on the lawn. Last season i did use that new temporary bar above the pre parade when i fancied it, literally a minute away - with ttote facilities !

actually I was at the pre-parade, and was quite taken aback by how Bob looked. Admittedly I'd never seen him before but he didn't look well. Especially compared to SDC the day before who looked simply stunning
Oh and I made it to watch the race with minutes to spare
