He's not one that I liked but McCain seems to love him, the fact that they are sending Overturn over fences makes yme think they think this one is a good bit better over hurdles.

Underrated all year just like Peddlers was. I took 25's on him winning the Supreme at Christmas after seeing him win on a bog at Haydock

I personally would want to see how the Supreme form works out first (it didn't look the strongest, but we won't know that until next year), or if Cinders runs well in something like the Fighting Fifth.

But then again, if he does run well in the Fighting Fifth he won't be 16/1.

Good luck with it though, I know you were keen on Spirit Son, so maybe he might a bit of compensation.

I am guilty of underrating this horse. I took a negative view of the small field, heavy ground hurdles he won. But he looked very good at Cheltenham.

That said, I fancy one or two of the horse in behind him to improve, so that would actually frank his form.

16/1 is short enough imo, he is actually 12/1 on here. Short in comparison to the last two winners, Menorah and Go Native, who were both 25 & 33/1 for the CH afterwards. Although in fairness Go Native went off 7/2 for the CH the next season!

I wouldn't be taking 12/1, if he was 25/1 I'd have a bet

Cinders and Ashes favourite for the Fighting Fifth????????

Don't know how fit Grandouet is, but cannot have Cinders at 3's and Grandouet and Rock on Ruby at 4's.

I know the trainer has won the last two renewals, but you must be taking a big leap of faith in the Supreme to be backing him at 3's.

Great to see Go Native's name back in the early prices for a Grade 1.

Bettings

Cinders 3/1
Grandouet 4/1
Rock on Ruby 4/1
Darlan 5/1
Cash and Go 10/1
Countrywide Flame 10/1
Go Native 10/1
14/1 bar.

Seems carzy if Grandouet and RoR are likely runners. Go Native might be the bet for me but he's also in the Morgiana and Hattons Grace.

So the supreme winner is shorter price than the Churdle winner.

Anyone care to explain why to me??

Grandouet for me!!! As above don't understand the betting.

Hopefully Betfair might have a market up soon, and then we can see pretty early how fit Grandouet is.

Henderson's got three entered, but depends if he'll run Darlan and Cash and Go only a couple of weeks after the RP hurdle.  This is the first time Binocular hasn't been entered since 2008, I think they've finally worked out that he runs rubbish in it Happy

I don't think it's certain Darlan will run on Sunday rather than in the FF.
Report tomdeane November 13, 2012 10:47 PM GMT
Surely now is the time to get on Rock On Ruby?

Cinders is a ludicrous price and that won't hold up if the others run, while Grandouet has fitness to prove after his injury and Darlan might well run in the Greatwood and not here (looks likely to me judging by the ante-post money for him this Sunday).

That leaves Rock On Ruby, the reigning Champion Hurdler, who absolutely bolted up first time out last season and comes from a yard that scored with Zarkandar first time at the weekend. He will surely not go off at 4s?

Tom - RoR is now officially with Harry fry (as he was in reality last season, but then under the Nicholls umbrella).
Report tomdeane November 14, 2012 1:50 AM GMT
^ Of course he is. That had somehow inexplicably slipped my mind...

Still, as you say, I remember he was basically trained that way last year so presumably it won't make too much difference to his chances. I wonder how much help Fry will be getting from Nicholls? I also wonder if there will be an issue keeping ROR and Zarkandar apart throughout the season?
Report buddeliea November 14, 2012 7:48 AM GMT
Yer never know in this game tom,but i suspect ROR will go wherever they want him to go.
He trained him last season so dont expect much different this season.
