Solwhit - had totally forgotten about him until I saw him mentioned on another thread. 20 months or so let's hope he makes it back to the track. If The Fly is campaigned differently as suggested by connections, there's a chance that he might still win a decent prize.
Report corporal September 22, 2012 9:13 AM BST
And pretty much any Novice Chaser who ran in the RSA/Arkle/jewson - with the honourable exception of Finians Rainbow - can be forgotten.
Report corporal September 22, 2012 9:14 AM BST
Sorry should read Novice Chaser from 2011 Cheltenham Festival

Punjabi is definitely a bit of a forgotten horse imo. Could be the Arkle winner, you never know Scared

I don't think he's got any chance btw, but nice to see a former champion hurdle winner back in training.

Can't wait to see Waheeb in action on Thursday; got beat by my namesake at Punchestown in a real good battle. Still gutted by LoveTheHigherLaw's early departure, was such a big fan of his.

ONLY one lot breached six figures at Wednesday's concluding session of theSpring Horses In Training Sale in Doncaster, the five-year-old Pere Blanc offered from David Arbuthnot's stable as owner George Ward winds down his racing interests.

Anthony Stroud, an agent better known in flat circles, saw off Steve Gollings and owner Phil Martin for the progressive hurdler at £100,000.

"My career started out buying jumpers and he's for an old client from my Curragh Bloodstock Agency days who wants to remain low-key at the moment," said Stroud.

"He stopped having jumpers pretty much when I left the CBA but decided he is getting a bit long in the tooth now and wanted a few jumpers again. He also bought Red Devil Boys for £72,000 at the recent Cheltenham sale and the horses are going out in a field now and then it will be decided where they go into training.

"I bought Hazy Sunset [a sister to Pere Blanc's great grandam] for Fred Winter so know the family and this looked a nice, progressive horse who was ready to go chasing. I've known David Arbuthnot a long time and he highly recommended the horse."

Good to see the old boy Rite of Passage back in the winners enclosure today.

Doubt they will ever run him over hurdles again (Weld didn't mention it anyway), but would love to see an Ascot Gold Cup winner serve it up to Big Bucks in the World Hurdle.  I'd love to see Big Bucks, Rite of Passage, Quevega and Peddlers in the World Hurdle - now that would be a race.
Report wellchief October 20, 2012 6:16 PM BST
Didn't see this on Sportinglife

Rite Of Passage was third to Peddlers Cross at the Cheltenham Festival in 2010 before he won the Gold Cup, and Weld went on to reveal a tilt at one of the icons of the jumping game was not out of the question.

He said: "I'll speak to his owner Dr (Ronan) Lambe, but we could look to take on Big Buck's (in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle) at Cheltenham.

"He's a super leaper and jumps for fun."

Come on Weldy, we need to give Big Bucks a race this year Happy
Report revedesivola October 20, 2012 6:21 PM BST
i dont think rop will be a serious challenger to big bucks. the distance of 3m would be a positive but if he couldnt come near beating peddlers cross 2 months before winning the gold cup then it doesnt bode well for him i fink
