There are at least two retired horses in there as well.

Looking at the Grand National forum there is a post about creating a green book and how if horses are balloted out it could end up costing you money; struggling to get my head round it though, is this a new thing Betfair are doing for all antepost markets?
Report strontium September 20, 2012 10:50 AM BST
Not all but most - any where horses are usually balloted out. If they're doing it it will be in the rules. They may not do it for the Gold Cup as it's quite unusual for a maximum field to be declared?
Report Howdi September 20, 2012 10:38 PM BST
what is max field strontium....
Report strontium September 20, 2012 10:55 PM BST
I think it's 24 for senior (non-novice) chases.

At this stage, 5 and half months away from Cheltenham, every horse is a dodgy bet, lets face it, the horses get injured, lose form, while others progress and they have to get to the post, which has to be a 10/1 shot in itself.
Report Rondetto September 25, 2012 4:50 AM BST
Yeah but wer'e talking real dodgy ones that won't run or are highly unlikely to run in races they are quoted for. Minsk (the Supreme)is a boat Oscar Whisky (Arkle)would kill himself over fences Invictus (Gold Cup) is out for the season Peddlers Cross (The QMCC)is being aimed at the world hurdle Finian's Rainbow (QMCC)take on Sprinter Sacre? They'd need to be mad he'll go Ryanair. Cinder's and Ashes (The Arkle) Isn't going fencing .

The bookies or your fellow Betfair members would lay that lot until the cows come home.

I think Fingal Bay is possibly a dodgy horse in the RSA market, and the same can be said about a lot of Arkle and other RSA horses, because we've obviously got the new 20f Novice Chase at Chelt too.

I know FB is going to start over 20f in his novice chase campaign, and Hobbs still believes that he stays 24f, but he's a top price 10/1 with the books for the RSA without anyone see him jump a fence in public - seems stingy to me, and I'm the horses' biggest fan. Not going to deny that he shapes like a stayer because of the way he grinds out his victories, but there is a lingering doubt after his Aintree defeat to Lovcen, who is a general 16/1 shot with a ptp background and no doubts about his stamina.
Report tweedledumbtweedletwat September 26, 2012 10:00 PM BST
will lovcen go chasing then...another dodgy bet
Report RyanWe September 27, 2012 1:52 PM BST
True enough, supposed to be going for that 3 mile handicap hurdle at the Paddy Power meeting isn't he.

Oscar Whisky (Arkle)would kill himself over fences Shocked

And why? Don't see why he wouldn't take to them to be honest.
Report buddeliea October 1, 2012 5:23 PM BST
yeh,stupid comment.

Trainer seems ok with Oscar going chasing, although personally i would like to see him go the CH route.

I think it's been announced that OW will be staying over hurdles but avoiding Big Buck's.
Report jimmy777 October 2, 2012 8:33 AM BST
Not always a 10/1 shot them getting to post, i spent last season topping up big bucks and quevega at low odds and that paid off in march. Will do the same this year.
Report duncan idaho October 2, 2012 12:13 PM BST
they have to get to the post, which has to be a 10/1 shot in itself

the fact Kauto, Denman, Neptune, Quevega, Binocular, Big Buck's etc etc turn up every year suggests 10/1 might be a bit generous....would certainly have been a tasty near 14,000/1 accumulator for 4 of the above to have made the gig in any given recent year Mischief
