Replace 'Cheltenham' with 'Chepstow' and we're there!

Well it's finally here, CheltenhamRoar.
Love the video, Joist ... Davy Russell at 1.10 ![]() I don't have any of the racing channels so I'll have to wait a bit longer for my jumps season to start ![]() |

As horrifically cheesey as it is, I can't help myself having it full-blast and belting it out the Monday before the Tuesday every year
![]() Nice opener for Far West there, don't think he jumped as well as ATR were making out but looks a lovely promising sort. The NH season is here!! ![]() |

Some very interesting entries for Sunday at Kempton, especially in the 2 m conditions hurdle - Brampour, Get Me Out of Here, Cotton Mill (pleased to see him tried at 2 m!), Local Hero, Moon Dice, Prospect Wells, Starluck, Baby Mix...
We are back and running. |

Fantastic stuff, final flat trip of the year to see Frankel at Ascot on Saturday then the flat can clear off and my next meeting will be the Tingle Creek. As one MT would say, GREAT STUFF

Ascot instead of Cheltenham? Bizarre decision!

Indeed. All the bumpers at Ascot will be shown on the big screen at Cheltenham.

Good little race at Huntingdon today. Looking forward to seeing the return of Tour dArgent and how much he has grown and strengthened over the summer. Could be a really nice horse if he has imo.

I like to keep Cheltenham as a once a year event, keeps it special for me. Plus, while it's a decent card at Cheltenham and while I much prefer the jumps to the flat, seeing Frankel for the last time trumps Chelters on Saturday for me.

My racing viewing is very limited. This afternoon's Cheltenham coverage on C4 will be the first jump racing I've seen since last season.
I am soooooooooooo excited! ![]() |

Hope you enjoyed, Makybe! The joy Frankel gave me and thousands of others at Ascot today is (dare I say it) greater than I've had at Cheltenham in my modest 5 or so years of attending. I can't wait to witness some history at Cheltenham because it must be incredible.
I always consider the Old Roan Chase as the first big race of the NH season, so roll on next weekend! We're firmly underway then ![]() |

Nice scenes at Cheltenham too - the race was delayed so we could all watch Frankel. When he made his move coming down the straight the place erupted.
I thought Frankel was very special today - losing 4 lengths falling out of the gate like that, then crusing past the second best flat race horse in the world like it wasn't there. He also made Nathanial (King George and Eclipse winner!) look ordinary. Glad you enjoyed it Joist - I've had some of the most unforgettable moments of my life watching sport. |

Absolutely phenomenal Stront wasn't it- Frankel cruising on the bridle past a top class Cirrus Des Aigles who was in full flight. Bet that was a great moment at Cheltenham.
I was so impressed with Excelebration today. Then I had to remind myself that he's the horse that Frankel regularly laughed at to the tune of several lengths. Just remarkable! Anyway, with that awesome culmination to the flat I'm ready for the NH. One thing I'm so grateful to Frankel for is that he's got my best mate interested in racing, when he couldn't have given a monkeys before. He's now got so into it that he's thrilled to be attending his first Festival with me next year! So from Frankel, to Sprinter Sacre; really hope he fulfils his incredible potential this year. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Great!
![]() Yep, Excelebration was oustanding - his race today goes to show how good Frankel really is. Great champions are always worth watching in any sport. We have one in Big Buck's - let's hope we have another in Sprinter Sacre. |

I sure did, Joist ![]() Our sensational summer of sport continues into the autumn with our darling Frankel. Loved the jumping from Chelts, too. I particularly enjoyed seeing the win of Nadiya De La Vega. She's a gorgeous looking mare. I believe she reared up and went over backwards (with AP) before the race , so she did well to run so well after that. Really looking forward to following her this season. I love racing ![]() |

I'd left it a bit late to book the three days of the Cheltenham Open Meeting off work.
But Yesterday I found out that I have been given those days off. Happy days! I cannot wait. Will be booking Cheltenham week off when I go in later ![]() |

every year I get more and more bored of the flat, literally cannot wait until the proper stuff comes round again

Don't get me wrong, I love NH racing and jumps racing fans - a more passionate and life-affirming bunch you'll never meet.
It's just this CONSTANT need (by some) to define themselves by how much they loathe flat racing. It's a bit like Scots defining their own national worth by precisely how much they hate the English. Also, it used to be the stroking was scheduled to start at the Mackeson Meeting at Cheltenham. Then it was Charlie Hall Chase but now I see it's the Chepstow October meeting. It's all horse racing for me. |
|
By:
fair enough roger, I accept that 2nd point
I would say most people have an allegiance to 1 or the other, but racing isn't that different to other sports imo you could say rugby union v rugby league is all just rugby, test match cricket and T20 cricket is just cricket, the fact is it isn't |
