was fit to run at punchestown but was held back as ground was heavy

thanks CV. glad he is back. terrific horse on his day.

Aye, shame what happened to him when he was fav for Champion Hurdle, he could well have beaten Binocular given his form that season.
Report robelnino May 1, 2012 2:19 PM BST
yeah i had him backed at big odds. shame indeed

Cool

Noel Meade seemed quite pleased with the comeback, mentioning the Morgiana & The Christmas HUrdle as possible targets. More worrying he said he wasn't sure whether he'll stay hurdling or go chasing

Tbf ive always wanted to see him over a fence,However,That was before he was injured.
Wouldn't be so sure now.
Report resner not lesnar October 10, 2012 10:08 PM BST
My thoughts exactly CR. Gotta be a little more risky to go over fences now, however not a vintage Arkle year by the looks of things so you could understand them considering it. I'd prefer to see if he's still got what it takes over hurdles, he was favourite for a reason in 2010

And I didn't mean because HF was injured although that may have had something to do with it
Report Blocker October 11, 2012 1:06 PM BST
Got to stay over hurdles IMO, 2m hurdlers pretty thin bunch apart from HF. C'mon Noel you have plenty of chasers to play with, let Mr Carbs get the timing right on GN
Report CheltenhamRoar October 11, 2012 2:21 PM BST
indeed,Cant really blame them for leaving that option open, and they went chasing very late in the day with Harchibald,So don't be surprised if they take the same route with GN.But lets hope it doesn't result in the same disappointment.

I'd stay hurdling as well; and if he can stay fit he is definitely place material in the Champion imo.

Niggling doubts over his injury, and a short head win over Starluck in the Xmas Hurdle and 2.5 length win over Sublimity in the Fighting Fifth may not look as good now as the did at the time though.

Good to see him back on the track, and will be interesting how he is campaigned - I'll watch him closely but with my wallet shut!
Report CheltenhamRoar October 11, 2012 5:56 PM BST
imo,he's one of those horse's who travel through their races with such ease wether it's against selling opposition or grade 1 opposition,
it's just what he finds off it is the problem!
