When we had all the uproar concerning the new whip rules, synchronised would have been cited as one of the horses that would be a chief sufferer as he needs so much encouragement, a horse where the whip is a necessary....no essential tool of the trade....and hear he is winning a gold cup with no need for mccoy to transgress the rules at all......whenever the debate rears its head again, as soon as someone talks about horses not being able to win races they should on the day......they will get this result thrown in their face.
Nicely put duffy, but how many jockeys would have won on synchronised on the day, i backed him anti/post at 20s e/w so i watched synchronised very carefully during the race ; i even gave up on the e/way part of my bet more they once during the race. I dont know what the highest price he was in running but im sure without the great one he never would have won, not without trangressing the rules anyway. its well worth watching the race again from start to finish to realise what a greatjockey A,P IS.

Great ride from AP maybe the so called chosen one aka Ruby should watch and learn that when riding an out an out stayer like Boston Bob he should kick on and use his stamina and not wait for them to come back to him. Yes i"m talking through my pocket he let me down for 6k

Agree with some of what you say jim but AP was riding an out and out stayer also and he did not kick on because he was unable to. No different imo from Boston's case.

Zzzzzzzzz so are you saying he would have won without the whip? Different races require different rides & good jockeys only use it when they have to. Duffy you are a fool

No i'm not saying that MM, but if you can't see the irony then you are the fool, i've always found it strange how some people feel the need to bash away on the keyboard with an obvious attitude about them....i'd lay off watching Rambo movies prior to an afternoons racing if i were you

You clearly got offended for being found out as an ignorant fool. I am no keyboard basher where is there an example of this? You use one race as a positive example of a rule described by the creator aka British Horseracing Authority as being fundamentally flawed. What a silly person you are. I mean no offence but this is a foolish thread and you Duffy I'm afraid created it.

I make no judgement on the rule whatsover, i'm in favour of the whip, all i'm saying is that there is an irony that a horse at the top of many lists as a probable sufferer ends up winning the biggest race of them all.....forget about the whys and wherefores of the rule and please please tell me that you can see the irony....it really is an obvious one you know!

Well many ppl would not think so with this thread. You have said whenever someone talks about a horse not winning when it should have... I am guessing you are saying with more smacks than the rules allow they will get this result thrown in their face. This is my last comment on it but that is a rather silly statement. I know exactly the point you are trying to make but that is not relevant to another horse in another race. I take you back to Prince Of Pirates last win that was a majestic ride and resulted in a ban but McCoy would have done exactly the same on Synchronised if he needed to. There is no irony in Synchronised being a game horse staying on over 3 miles 2 on his proffered ground. So many ppl read this horse wrong he's by Sadlers Wells & ppl think he has to have soft ground.

I see what you are saying but my comment on the irony does stand, you may be correct with the saddlers well thing and the soft ground but the point remains that if you canvassed a large number of people when the rules came out and asked them to name a horse that would be inconvenienced then i reckon that this horse would have been mentioned a lot of the time, and on that basis it is ironic.

About 12 MTS ago A.P. said his greatest ride ever was on Wichita Lineman a few years back at cheltenham... i think when he writes his autobiography a few moons from now he will say that his ride on synchronised might even be better. Whip or no whip.
