Should Oscar Whisky have run in the Champion Hurdle based on his running with Overturn ?

Should Somersby have run in the Champion Chase based on his beating of Finians Rainbow?

Should Zaidpour have run in the Wolrd Hurdle based on his beating of Voler La Vedette ?

3 top trainers, all of the wrong or not ?

I can understand why OW was sent to the World Hurdle, but running Zaidpour over 2 miles on quick ground was ridiculous.

for the record , I backed Oscar Whisky, because I thought it was worth the try over 3 miles given his 21f form at the track.

But running Zaidpout over 2 miles on Good when he won last time out over 22f on Heavy was silly.

Somersby im not sure about, I suspect connections are wishing they went for the QMCC.

CoolHunt Ball should have went for the Gold Cup

Somersby is just an impossible horse to work out,he doesn't seem to have a preferential trip, must have connections tearing their hair out!

Somersby im afraid not up for it at Cheltenham imo.

Sint also had good bet on Oscar Whisky, didnt stay but also didnt jump as fleunt as normal.
Zaidpour just soft ground horse in Ireland.
Another topic, Riverside Theatre didnt appear to like undulations either, but under brillant ride by Barry got him home thank god!
Think he is screaming out for King George!

Sint have to say all three ran in the wrong race and I believed this before the fest. Somersby is a 2 miler. Said our is a 3 miler & Oscar Whisky is all speed. He would have finished at worst 2nd in the CH IMO. Huge mistakes all 3!

Running Peddlers Cross at the meeting.

Before the race no one in their right mind thought that OS could beat HF so it wasn't a mistake...being a top stable they aren't bothered about placing in a champion hurdle so they were correct to take on the world hurdle in the hope that he'd stay and perhaps therefore win.

I bought a pair of Adidas stan smiths which squeak in the heel slightly after only 3/4 uses.

OW - should have tried to find out about 3M prior to Cheltenham. Problem is owner wants to run in Welsh CH each year.

Zaidpour - agreed. Again I believe influenced by owner having MDH in WH.

Somersby - simply a frustrating horse. QMCC was actually a weaker race but like stevo1 believe he would have found a way not to win

Also agree with punkha1 re PC. They knew that he wasn't right and to think they could 'get away with it' in the Jewson was both arrogant and insulting to the other horses in the race

You can't be scared by one horse at Cheltenham. Was the Fly ever going to be harder to beat than Big Bucks? No. Oscar Whisky would have gone very close in Champ Hurdle

You can argue OW would have won given he was conceding 8lb to Overturn as Ascot and may well have beaten him that day.

I suspect the next port of call will be Aintree for the race he won last year ..

I think the mistake they made with OW was not trying to find out earlier in the season. Could have taken BB on in any of his previous races then had a very good chance of re-assessing his target and running a big one in the Champion.

Agree about all the others Sint. Realt Dubh is another I'd add to the list. I know it was a seriously hot Ryanair, but he is never a 2 miler. Proved that in the Arkle last year.... was an impressive winner over 2m4f at Fairyhouse then was outspeeded by the not particulary quick Captain Chris over 2m. Probbaly swayed by not wanting to take on Noble Prince.

I have some sympathy for Tom George plotting Sivola de Sivola up for the Pertemps. However under the rules there is no guarantee that winners of qualifying races get automatic entry and he probably should have taken in another race, I am guessing that a 132 rating might have struggled to make the cut in previous years - but if I am wrong he can be considered unlucky.

Anyway, as it was the horse was always going to be up against it in the AB.
