It's a while since Pady has got the opportunity to run on ground this quick, and it's certainly a case of the quicker the better.
It's surprising that he hasn't run at intermediate distances that often (considering he's an Arkle winner and was also viewed as a King George horse). So possible improvement to come at 2m 5f especially at Cheltenham where his Festival form reads 412. All Grade One contests.
Another thing in his favour is that recently, he's led or disputed the lead which this week is a massive positive - very little comparing from off the pace.
The obvious negative is that he's a bridle merchant although the one time he did battle was in the Arkle three years ago so perhaps he thrives on making his way up the hill.
The Ryanair as I've often read on this forum is a race where a dozen horses are only separated by a few pounds. The horse feeling best in himself on the day typically does well. There's a lot in Pady's favour and despite being a 10yo, no surprise if he rolls back the years and grabs a place. 40/1 is quite big in my opinion in what is a typically competitive contest.

No chance I'm afraid. Horse very much on the downgrade up against a very classy field at their peak that will just go too quick for him. Someone asked Gordon Elliot whether Forpady had a chance in the Ryanair at the Preview on Sunday night. His reply: "No chance".
I'd be amazed if he finished in the first 6. Good luck if you get on though. |

He was given a lot of time to recover after Long Run's King George where was pulled up.
For since then is 2334 but a lot of those runs were in smaller fields on slowish ground. I'm hoping the good ground at Cheltenham might light him up. |

 Always looked like this horse needed 2.5m on good ground- hopefully today's conditions will be ideal and he can sneak into the frame. Gl with all bets  |

The race in question was the Arkle.
For since 2222222P2334 so clearly is capable of making the frame. Note he returned home a sick horse in Pulled Up race. Overpriced at 40/1. |
