pocket talking ? move on mardy ar$e, if you cant take the losers get out of the game its not for you

Just watched it again and it was a cr@p ride. He is paid an awful lot to get it right and he didnton the big day.
By:
Eric's obviously ridden a few.

By:
Looking at his rides on Al Ferof and Fly, can see Big Bucks not having many takers, a flat spot on this quick ground and a mistimed ride might do for him as well.
By:
I agree Eric he definitely should have won on Al Ferof.

Yes to put in a good ride it has to be on the winner ... dimwits.

You think Hurricane Fly lost because of race tactics?
This was a horse who was made odds on (only one apart from Istabraq and Alderbrook in last 15 years) for a Champion Hurdle, probably because there was no scenario, slow pace or fast pace, ridden prominently or held up, that he could lose if he was on song.... which he clearly was not. He was out of steam at the last. A state we have not seen him in for a very long time. |

yer talking through your pocket seator,i backed the fly, simply not good enough on the day poss down to the ground

Anonymous forumite telling Ruby Walsh how to ride Cheltenham

By:
OP is 100% correct, horse did not fire on the day anyway,so did not really matter, but to give the leaders a 15 length head start for 12f of a 2m race is pathetic, wakey wakey ruby, this is a championship race round cheltenham, not a 6 runner stroll in ireland, run the race again and even a not right HF may well have managed to scrape home or at worst finish 2nd,the biggest clue to knowing that ruby knew he rode a shocker on the fly was revealed in the mares race, when unlike last year, ruby did not sit way out the back and pick them off,he made sure he was not going to mess up twice in one day and had Quevega sat in about 7th and not far off the lead the whole way round,HF was the single most important ride of rubys season and he is paid big money to gety the job right, not balls it right up,
totally agree about Barry G aswell, trying to think of mistakes he has made and of the top of my head, cant think of any |
By:
FormMan, Hurricane gave away 4 lengths at the gate and was never worse than 10 lengths off the pace during the whole race, so not sure where your 15 length margin comes from
Quevega ran in a 19 horse race, and only had max 7 horses behind her for at least half the race if not more. So she was way off the 7th place you suggest the whole way around. Think you are right that Hurricane had an off day, which apparently Ruby has already confirmed, was never going from early. I backed Hurricane at the short prices as thought unbeatable. Naturally disappointed, but very surprised if does not reverse the form with the front pair in the future |
By:
Clearly not read your post.
By:
i also lost on hurrican fly.but im confident ill get it all back and more when he runs next.ho was sweating badly at the start and obv had an off day.roll on aintree and or punchestown!!
By:
Ruby gave the horse every chance, he just didn't pick up. Get over it
By:
Rather than knocking Walsh we should praise Fehily and Maguire for their rides. They dictated the race. A few weeks ago someone said Geraghty was the best jockey round Cheltenham
By:
Form man, try Burton Port at Newbury. Not Barry's finest moment.
By:
ah,but that was not a riding error,he knew exactly what he was doing there

By:
It wasn't a great ride, but pretty much all of the OP was complete rubbish. To suggest Ruby can't ride is complete lunacy. Severe pocket talking. Fwiw I doubt he'd have won if he had raced prominently.
By:
The OP is quite obviously a complete retard. Ruby Walsh is one of the best jockeys that this sport has ever seen, and possibly will ever see. He rides Cheltenham better than any other jockey in my opinion. His record at the festival supports that view. And on top of that, he's one of the most honest guys you could ever come across. He'd be the first person to hold his hands up if he'd made a balls of the ride on any horse. So to have some sad goon sitting at his laptop in his bedroom telling him how to ride around Cheltenham is completely pathetic.
By:
Barry is putting him to shame this week, its a shame he was not on HF as he did not have a ride in the race
By:
I think the horses Barry has been riding may have something to do with that. So are you saying that you think Hurricane Fly would've won the Champion Hurdle if Barry Geraghty was riding him???
By:
not at all,but i am saying that the horse would have been given a better ride had barry been onboard
By:
I haven't checked yet but there is a fair chance that there is a track bias against the deep hold up horses. Only from memory on the first two days it seems that it may be proving very difficult to come from a long way back. Would need to check all the races to see if that is true (Une Artiste did come from a long way back but that was because Kazilian went a million miles an hour)...
but of course there is no way that Ruby could know that there is a possible track bias on only the first day. Teaforthree - up the front all the way Simonsig - held up in touch Bobs Worth - in front two all the way Finians - tracked leaders Son of Flicka - prominent Champagne Fever - Made all Haven't checked Tuesday but it certainly seems to be suiting front runners. Fruity O'Rooney nearly made all... only a theory but worth thinking about |
By:
but you would have thought that ruby would have knowen that he is facing the best horses in the UK in a championship race and sitting 12 lengths off them for most of the race is not the smartest of moves,if asked 'ruby,do you think you could have given HF a better ride, regardless if you think he was on a going day or not'?
the answer would surely be 'yes i do' |
By:
but he cant know if there is a track bias in favour of being prominent which it now appears there is... and if that is true he probably had no chance once he was held up so far back.. and Bino less so because he was further back
they switch track tomorrow be interesting to see if it continues |
By:
only one i can think of was grand cruz, held up last for the first circuit, before traveling through the field to join the leaders turning for home, perhaps that move to close the gap took its toll
By:
yes could be hard to make up ground so look for prominent racers brother
By:
and most definitely horses that travel
By:
course they are watering and on fresh ground so it could all change so don't assume anything but I won't be doing any deep hold ups like For Non Stop
By:
we shall see,but either way,one horse that travels very well and is ridden right up with the pace is Great End'vour

yup, my NAP of the Festival!

v sad sad post about prob the greatest jock to ever sit on a horse...bitter CLOWN
By:
hurricane fly has never been as good as the hype suggests........beat solwit everytime in ireland, beat a slow peddlers cross last year....beat a bunch of donkeys in the mud in the irish champion. over rated. forgotten about this horse already
By:
He may be the greatest N.H jock to sit on a horse altho I will defer,
however he is clearly showing his bias to naturally hold up horses which as Judorick has indicated is totally against the run of play this week. As a true champion he shouldnt need a couple of days to work out how the track is riding on this faster round that we have seen @ cheltenham for many years. The good news he has ridden Kauto positively up in the van on both occasions this season & if he can set his own pace we could be in for an emotional moment |
By:
Rubys all ways rides H.F this way, he just ran flat.
By:
Why can't some people just see that Rock on Ruby was the best horse on the day. Ruby did not ride a bad race from what I saw - in fact I thought ROR could be called the winner from half way. His run at Kempton at Xmas behind Binocular was brilliant considering the course did not suit. And his performance at Newbury first time out stamped him as a real contender.
How many horses win back to back Champion Hurdles? The ones that have recently have also won the Neptune/Sun Alliance the previous year - i.e Istabraq and Hardy Eustace. Speed horses like Binocular and Huricane Fly might be multiple grade 1 winning horses but they rarely win more than 1 champion hurdle. Who would you rather back to win next years Champion at this stage - Cinders and Ashes or Simonsig? You could throw a blanket over the first 5 home in the Supreme - but Simonsig won in a canter by 7 lengths |

this AP mccoy you talk of... Isn't he the one that sat behind Ruby?
