Best mate enclosure is a completely different stand over the other side of the course. You don't get the extent of facilities as you do in the tatts. Better view from the tatts also.

thks. price difference seemed to imply that. will get tatts tickets.

Yes definitely go with tatts, best mate can be a real struggle to see what is going on plus limited facilities.

In all honesty I dont think there is a marked difference between tatts and BM.
The view of the home straight from BM is sound and actually you can judge the straight better as you are looking more straight on rather than the profile view from tatts. Facilities are what you need in BM i.e. bars that arent too busy food etc, the tent equivilent to the guiness tent is good fun and the band gives a good atmosphere. Dont get me wrong I am not saying tatts are bad (although be warned of the betting ring and the bar on the fri) as I vary the enclosures I attend over the years. I'm just saying that BM isn't as bad as people claim. It's the festival - whats not to love. Can't wait. P.S ceased going to GC day a few years back as it has started going downhill so have enjoyed the final day in the confort of my own home and starting the liver recovery a day earlier - gotta love this week comnig up. |

Not saying the BM is bad That Horse; have been in there quite a few times. Definitely worth the extra money for the tatts though.

You can't go to the parade ring if you buy Best Mate tickets.

Good point, ive normally made up my mind by then and given the crowds you find it difficult to get back, get a bet and a possy for the race.
Not long now.... ![]() |

im more interested in having a few beers and enjoying the craic. cheltenham is a meeting i would normally swerve big style with any intention of making money. in fact, i rarely go racing as i do this full time and would rather be in front of a computer screen.
however i have the opportunity to go for a couple of days and have some craic. bands and beer and a few tenners here and there will be more my thing on tues and wednesday. looks like ill get a hotel in birmingham and wander down on the train. 4o mins or so. hotels much more reasonable there for someone going on their own. just picking a few brains. |

plenty of cheap accommodation in Cheltenham itself
stayed in Birmingham once wished i hadnt the coach journeys each day were a nightmare |

By:
cheapest room. 130 to 150. 50 quid in birmingham with 20 quid for the 40 mins train journey. still looking. never been in birmingham or cheltenham. so am a bit clueless really. but if its 40 mins on a train, then that will be fine.

I stay in Birmingham every year, works fine for me, only 45 mins on train, usually get the 09.30, gives me ample time for a wander up to town then to course.

cheers goth. i travel alot but have been to neither place and it looks a reasonable option. i am loath to pay that sort of money for a single room. 45 mins on a train isnt so bad.

We go best mate every year, half the price and more space to get a bet on and watch the races
