If that was a deleted swear word I was thinking the same thing about you. Laugh I just didn't feel the need to post it given the fact that most people would have been thinking it anyway.

it will be a crazy decision if they decided going for the Gold Cup, way too early for him

tony

I'm sorry. I know we are getting that annual fever but I was just pointing out that this subject has been done to death and all avenues discussed. You ain't getting what you want until they have decided and that seems at least partly contingent on what happens with some of the others. Feel free to scroll down and have a good read you c****moker. I wouldn't have put that last bit usually but if you send one of mine to the hospital then I'll send one of yours to the morgue. That way we can play it any way you want.

fair comment truce ?

A grand gesture sir. Truce it is.

And in this spirit of cordiality I agree with your sentiment. The Pipe's have been a blight on the game for far too long in my view. Very astute at plotting a horse up but then so is Barney Curley and Ferdy Murphy.

Why don't you split your stake and have £1 on the Gold Cup and £1 on the RSA. That way I can still laugh at the thought of your mug face as it empties quicker than your bladder at the thought of backing up your big talk. LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Why can't some people take a joke?

BTW grand crus will win either race it enters in my opinion.

If he does go for the RSA, Grands Crus would be worth opposing at the likely 7/4. Similar profile to Time For Rupert last year... both runners up in a World Hurdle in their second season over hurdles.

RSA is usually won by a contender with just one season Novice Hurdling.

Time For Rupert broke a blood vessel in last year race and was before halfway.
So unless Grands Cru does the same its not really relevant.

When: 04 Mar 12 11:08
Punchestowns had the same profile too, the year before.

Have to say, this little exchange was much more fun to read than the heavyweight battle we had the other night between the buswaving sociopath and the aspergers kid!
By:

Yes he did but Punchestowns ran well below form too because he has soundness issues.
He was a big drifter before the race and ran well below form and returned slightly lame.
His soundness issues finally caught up with him and his career ended tamely.
So unless GC breaks blood vessels and/or has soundness concerns then these are not relevant to him.
If he runs his race then something will have to improve to beat him in the RSA.
If he runs in the Gold Cup he will have to improve significantly to win it.

If he runs his race same as in the Feltham he will be passed by several horses on the way up the hill.

16 of the last 19 winners were contesting novice hurdles in the previous season, so I would suggest that does have a modicum of relevance.

I'm reading yours stats Speculation, but I'm not hearing any interpretations of them.

What do you think are the implications of Grands Crus running a further season over hurdles compared to horses that only ran the one season in novice hurdles?
By:
Speculation
When: 04 Mar 12 15:58
ryanwe, my interpretation of this stat in this specific race, is that it has paid to have sent an RSA horse chasing as soon as possible, rather than waste another year over hurdles. To my mind, if a yard has a top "chaser in the making" (how many times do we hear that), then they are itching to send him over fences and not see what they can hoover up in pattern hurdles - unless they perceive the horse to be a brilliant hurdler or not necessarily an out and out chaser. So I would rather be with a prospect that has always been deemed a chaser.

I could be wrong and there will always be exceptions (although not one since 1984 with Grands Crus' particular pattern-hurdle profile profile) and at 7/4 I personally will be looking elsewhere.

boring fcking subject anyway coz it aint winning wherever it runs so give it a rest
By:
formboy
When: 04 Mar 12 18:29
Punchestowns and Time For Rupert had problems, therfore they are poor examples of why GC is vunerable in the RSA.
By:
thieveslikeus
When: 04 Mar 12 18:34
Nobody knew they had problems before the RSA.   Maybe the forerunner to those problems was the reason they were kept back hurdling another year?  Whatever, the way GC was being closed down over a sharp 3m suggests he has little chance of winning the RSA.
