Tony - I just got the same e-mail. P I S S E D me right off. Wot good a book you want to digest before the event if you dont get it till after. Hopeless. Is it just Amazon that will be late or is the hold up with the publisher?
Report strontium February 26, 2012 12:06 PM GMT
Are you talking about the RP book or the Paul Jones one?

If Paul Jones, try Weatherbys shop.
Report tony2914 February 26, 2012 12:31 PM GMT
just tried wh smith its not in stock there.so i think the best option is to order it with the ultimate weekender which as 180 has said gets posted out on the 1st march. like u say willie u need a good couple of weeks to sift through the info.
Report willie the milk February 26, 2012 1:13 PM GMT
Stron - It's the RP one by Nick Pulford.

How do I order the Ultimate weekender?
Report strontium February 26, 2012 1:18 PM GMT
I've got the Amazon message too. Grrrrrr.
Report marychain1 February 26, 2012 1:20 PM GMT
My Paul Jones one is estimated delivery 1 March Excited
Report willie the milk February 26, 2012 1:39 PM GMT
I've just ordered it through the Racing Post. Click on "Shop" then "Bookshop" then "Cheltenham Festival 2012"

Report Ramruma February 26, 2012 1:55 PM GMT
Normally you'd expect Amazon to be a couple of days behind (in return for the discount) but I've not heard of anyone getting theirs direct from the Racing Post yet, so we may have to chalk another one up to the Post's ramshackle organisation.

Probably this is the one time of the year everyone tries to order the same book at the same time from the Racing Post and the extra staff needed to deal with it were made redundant in the efficiency drive before last.

Still waiting for my Weaterbys guide to arrive - was looking forward to a few hours with my head in that tonight....
Report Steamship February 26, 2012 3:04 PM GMT
I often order from High Stakes bookshop. I ordered Paul Jones guide on Friday it is not in yet but they did have RP one
Report strontium February 26, 2012 3:10 PM GMT
I got my Weatherbys on on Friday. Swings and roundabaouts.
Report laynplay February 26, 2012 9:25 PM GMT
I have had the weatherbys one and the racing post one year after year but now I just print off the atr trends on the megasite....free and in my opinion better than the other 2.
Report db1974 February 26, 2012 9:41 PM GMT
Not sure how the ATR trends are better than the Weatherbys book given that they are both by Paul Jones!

I do agree with the general sentiment though as I found the book a little bit of a waste last year with 90% of the same info is on the ATR website for free
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 26, 2012 9:56 PM GMT
The thing is, it will point you to a winner but will also put you off a winner.

I buy it most years but you should always go with your own gut feeling. win, lose or draw imo.
Report NorthernPunter February 27, 2012 7:31 AM GMT
If you are buying the Festival Guide from the Wetherbys site then use the promo code SUN and you will get a Fiver off.

Makes it only £9.95 with a tenner free bet with SJ
Report Regular Fries February 27, 2012 9:24 AM GMT
Mine is due for delivery on the 29th, but I am wary as pre-ordered the Aintree/Punchestown guide last year and that wasn't going to be delivered till after the GN!
Report stevo1 February 27, 2012 11:52 AM GMT
Always late every year thru Wetherbys for some reason.
Report rogerthebutler February 27, 2012 12:17 PM GMT
Ordered through Wetherbys - arrived Saturday (25th)
Report stevo1 February 27, 2012 12:46 PM GMT
You lucky roger just rang while back was told sending today.
Report Asparagus Man February 27, 2012 1:11 PM GMT
The Paul Jones one was being sold at Towcester yesterday and looks decent.

I've also got the delayed message for the RP one from Amazon, so have got that instead. Through Weatherbys with the promotional code kindly provided above it's only a tenner including a tenner free SJ bet which is an excellent deal.

The distribution issues with the RP book should increase the sales of the Paul Jones ones!
Report stevo1 February 27, 2012 1:17 PM GMT
Racing Post are very slow dont bother anymore.

It goes through the major players for each race, a safe assumption is that these are the shortlisted horses.
Report horse9 February 29, 2012 10:01 PM GMT
For real lazy fookers you can pay the 6 quid or whatever it is and have the shortlist text to you every day (previous evening) - he did shortlist 13 of 27 but remember that he recommends 3/4/5 in each race so for a level stakes player the P/L won't have been huge...
Report strontium February 29, 2012 10:06 PM GMT
The shortlists are the emailed/texted info sent the night before the races at extra cost.
Report The Scobster February 29, 2012 10:14 PM GMT
If anyone wants to give me £6 I'll e-mail/text you 3-5 selections per race in a shortlist the night before...reckon I'd be just as good !

I accept Paypal Grin
Report strontium February 29, 2012 10:17 PM GMT
LOL. Paul Jones is pretty good Cool
Report horse9 February 29, 2012 10:36 PM GMT
He is pretty good, he definitely pulled Zemsky, Holmwood Legend, Al Ferof last year, and at 33s, 25s and 10s he won't have finished the week in the red....
Report Asparagus Man March 1, 2012 11:11 AM GMT
Ordered the Paul Jones one through Weatherbys on Monday night and it arrived this morning.
Report themanwho March 1, 2012 2:25 PM GMT
Ordered mine through Wetherbys two days ago, can't frigging wiat to get a read at it. Does anyone know ehn we get the free bet with SJ? I haven't received an email about it.
Report strontium March 1, 2012 2:44 PM GMT
manwho - you have to email SJ once you get the book (details inside the back cover) and then they'll credit it for you.
Report themanwho March 1, 2012 2:48 PM GMT
Cheers Strontium, 12 days to go. CAMMMAAAAANNN!!!!

did anyone see the guide by Dan Watkins of Green Street Capital last year? Tipped up Sizing Europe, Junior, Sir Des Champs early last year, was hoping he would do the same again, it was free but donations should be given to the Hoffmann Foundation for Autism from your winnings - does anyone know if he's done another one this year?
Report Tucho March 2, 2012 7:47 PM GMT
tried to use my SJ free tenner and they restricted me to 9.30

what is the fooking point, you couldn't let me have an extra 70 pence on ffs
Report Night Sight March 2, 2012 8:25 PM GMT
StattoE,

I've been looking out for that one myself for the past week or so but no joy so far.

Nothing on the Green St Capital website which is where I think it was to be found last year.

Shame if it's not being produced this year as apart from the winners I found it a good read.
Report StattoE March 3, 2012 12:59 PM GMT
Cheers Night Sight!

Agree with you it was a good read, if this years edition turns up, I will let you know on here.
Report easygame March 3, 2012 11:04 PM GMT
Have a look at this.  Make a little money from the Paddy Power offer.  Check the Arkle page.  All the stats you will ever need and none of Mr Jones's self indulgent essays. All stats to 90% and none of the '6 from the last 13 did this'  I ask for a small contribution to Marie Curie. It's a good cause.  Thankyou.  https://sites.google.com/site/gaultstats/Home
