Boring one I could do with some advice on please all. Been to the festival many times but this time have to leave the racing on Tuesday pretty soon after the last race to catch a 18.50 train - never had to get to the station so quickly after racing before. Walk or bus? Don't want to start queueing for a shuttle bus and start that horrible "should I start walking or will the bus come /  the queue start moving" game. I reckon the walk will take me c. 30mins but would rather hop on a bus if it's easy.

The walk is about 45 minutes, last race is 5.15, at least that way you should catch the train ok.

Ben -

Your best bet is to watch the last near an exit and make a hasty dash from the course. If you do that OK, I'd jump in a cab and get to the station very early. I did the walk and train thing last year but the queues are pretty long to get into the train station for trains that leave before 9ish. If you get there early you'll definitely make it but if you walk and/or get a bus you could theoretically be there with 20-30 minutes to spare but still not get on the train as there are so many people ahead of you in the queue.

Oh, and buy your tickets in advance as you won't be able to do that easily on the day!

Ben, bags of time but do not hang around. Leave the track shortly after the last and walk. i would not bother with a bus, which coudl break down, get caught in traffic etc. If you are pretty fit you can walk to the station in a brisk 30 mins. It does take longer than you would expect and the key is, if you are going through the town centre (the only way i would know, though i believe you can walk all the way along a disused railway line) make sure you know the way out of town toward the station - getting into town is easy, but finding your way out, in the direction of the station, is not so easy.
