This thread is pretty disgusting on a few levels
Report shockster January 28, 2012 8:19 PM GMT
Oscars Well to make it a treble tomorrow.Excited
Report strontium January 28, 2012 8:24 PM GMT
Barnesy - is there some official injury news about either of them? CC looked injured today, but I haven't heard anything.
Report shockster January 28, 2012 8:39 PM GMT
Hobbs mentioned on TV that he and Menorah were fine.
Report strontium January 28, 2012 8:43 PM GMT
Good to know, but it's hard to understand why he jumped so violently right if he's fine. I wouldn't be surprised if some hidden/internal injury shows up. Lots seemed a bit fishy on course today with CC. All that said, I very much hope there are no problems.
Report barnesy January 28, 2012 8:45 PM GMT
Not heard anything but there was almost certainly something wrong with Chris. I was mainly referring to the misplaced smugness to be fair.
Report wellchief January 28, 2012 8:46 PM GMT
Wasn't it a rib what was causing Master Minded to jump violently to the right a couple of years ago?

Also, there was a massive gap from the others going down to post and him.  He must have been gone down about 2 or 3 minutes later than all the others.
Report strontium January 28, 2012 8:48 PM GMT
Yes Well. You're right, CC wasn't in the ring when they rang the bell (unlike the rest of the field) and most of the others were at the post when he came out of the horse walk.
Report shockster January 28, 2012 8:50 PM GMT
Started drifting yesterday on here. So surely wouldn't have run if something serious amiss. Did jump appalling though, was very strange!  I don't think he'll stay, but still unknown after this.
If he gets to the festival they might as well go for the Gold Cup and Wishful the Ryanair cos no one knows.
Report strontium January 28, 2012 8:53 PM GMT
I walked past Sarah Hobbs around noon - she had a face like thunder.

up yours barnsey sour faced puss
Report shockster January 28, 2012 9:07 PM GMT
Howdi, you're funny.  But to be fair Pricewise is pretty good on the whole.  However, his Ante Post picks this year are Dire and appear to be opicked for the sake of it.  Doubt he has invested!!!
Report Howdi January 28, 2012 9:12 PM GMT
cheers shockster i love pricewise it was light hearted the way barnsey talks you'd think Captain chris had died he had an off day.

but to say this post is 'disgusting' makes him sound like a self righteous prat .
Report strontium January 28, 2012 9:16 PM GMT
To be fair to him, he's on a cracking run on Saturdays - not least the MCR winner today. I agree his Chelt AP selections so far seem odd but I accept he may have seen something I haven't - and I wouldn't have fancied making a pick for the World Hurdle or the Champion Chase. I will be looking at whatever he tips for the novice races with interest.
Report barnesy January 28, 2012 9:24 PM GMT
You're a judge Howdi, get your CV off to the racing post they'll have Segal out in no time once they realise you knew Captain Chris and Wishful Thinking had no chance.
Report shockster January 28, 2012 9:28 PM GMT
Barnesy I knew they had no chance aswell.Excited
Report Howdi January 28, 2012 9:32 PM GMT
ffs who is this mug with no sense of humour posting 'disgusting' get a life ffs
Report wellchief January 28, 2012 9:41 PM GMT
Captain Chris been taken out of the Gold Cup betting with Laddies and 365; still in the Ryanair though.
Report barnesy January 28, 2012 9:46 PM GMT
What is the purpose of this thread other than to gloat?
Report shockster January 28, 2012 9:51 PM GMT
Barnesy, the RP gloat everytime he has a winner.
Report barnesy January 28, 2012 9:55 PM GMT
That is true shockster, I don't like reading that anymore than I do this. Anyway Howdi I'll leave you to it, don't want to detract too much from what is clearly a glorious day for you.
Report shockster January 28, 2012 9:58 PM GMT
Barnesy, you take life too seriously!!!!!!!!
Report Senor El Betrutti January 28, 2012 10:10 PM GMT
I'm not Pricewise's biggest fan but I feel that he has been pushed into making a pick when he has no strong opinion just to sell papers on a slow day
Report shockster January 28, 2012 10:14 PM GMT
We all know that Senor.  He should be more inventive and used one of the "without" markets to be sensible and give good advice. There are a lot of lemmings out there who blindly follow and to be fair they're doing ok, but not on AP.
Report Howdi January 28, 2012 10:18 PM GMT
barnsey you need to get out more may a suggest a girlfriend may be an idea calm you down a bit lad Cool
Report Senor El Betrutti January 28, 2012 10:23 PM GMT
shock, i agree on the inventiveness but if the lemmings chose to blindly follow him then that's their problem imo
Report sintonian January 28, 2012 10:27 PM GMT
ere Howdi, who would you price wise for the Arkle mate ..
Report Howdi January 28, 2012 10:34 PM GMT
Good question. I agree with earlier point made you do get the feeling he has to pick something sometime sint.

I'd say the top three would be hard to beat possibly blackstairmountation but he is too late with that one with it running tomorrow. The way he's picking i'd say Menorah. Tom Segal knows more than me but I have to say some of his picks have been odd this year. But he can't lose pick a 20s shot and it goes 14s overnight.
Report sintonian January 28, 2012 10:42 PM GMT
Yep. He has a thankless task picking ante-post. Though he could have selected Oscar Whiskey imo rather than Brigante.

Re Arkle .. its a tough one. He picked Al Ferof last year so may do the same again, possibly. Laugh
Report Howdi January 28, 2012 10:53 PM GMT
think i was the only one slightly dissapointed by Al Ferof last week and he has becoming my fav horse in training although if anyone horse it suited by the cheltenham hill its him.
Report FOYLESWAR January 29, 2012 4:03 PM GMT
dont think he will pick al ferof sint ,he said in the weekender that the horse needs frther to show his best ! and thinks he is a gold cup horse next year .
Report Masterminded January 29, 2012 4:16 PM GMT
I feel sorry for his followers because his picks so far have been questionable to say the least. I certainly wouldn't be too happy going into the festival with those tokens. I feel he has maybe tried too hard to think outside of the box this year. Poor stuff anyway.
Report sintonian January 29, 2012 6:51 PM GMT
He advised Oscars Well eachway didn't he ? That doesn't look so bad at the moment and the best of his picks so far.

I notice all the bookies are busy shortening the Arkle runners before his tip is released. I think he will pick PC, if not then Cue Card, but reckon PC.
Report Howdi January 29, 2012 7:38 PM GMT
does anyone fancy cue card looks a bridle horse to mean amongst battle hardened horses
Report Masterminded January 29, 2012 8:18 PM GMT
I can't say I would be too thrilled if my best bet was Oscars Well in the CH. Already know at best all you will get is a place & I think he will struggle with that.
Report shockster January 29, 2012 9:12 PM GMT
Completely agree Masterminded.  Howdi, in the Arkle I actually think you can make a case for the first 4 in the market.  As CC is biggest price he's a great e.way bet for me.  Obviously could be beat by the other 3 but at 10/1 I think it's fair.  SS looks superb but is very short.  PC was the best hurdler so has to be respected and AF loves Chelt and will be finishing.  Just my thoughts. If he comes up with anything else? Enough Said.
Report FOYLESWAR January 29, 2012 9:57 PM GMT
as has been said on here before he has to put something up ante post for the chelt races on a tuesday it sells papers, but as his followers are looking for big prices he wont put up a shortie, he has put up a few questionable ones to say the least ,
dont think he would back many of these tips ,maybe token bets, he seems much more comfortable in the big field handicaps and thats where his better selections come from .
also cant see him putting up al ferof or peddlers cross for the arkle ,he will say not worth putting up a 4 or 5 /1 shot 6 weeks before the race as they wont be much shorter on the day .

Bog Warrior for me NRNB

Form franked in Ireland yesterday
Report strontium January 30, 2012 12:15 PM GMT
Has anyone gone NRNB on the Arkle yet? If so I agree he's a good bet. It's hard to see much else PW could put up (again). For Non Stop e/w could be a fair bet - he's got decent form with Al Ferof (and Grands Crus over hurdles) and looked booked for 2nd in the Coral Cup last time before he fell at the last.  Entered in the Jewson as well of course for which he's much shorter.

Cue Card is the blue one on oddschecker at the moment.
