if someone asked me advice on antepost betting the first thing id tell them is dont ever bet antepost on the triumph hurdle. an owner / trainer could because they know what they have but everyone else bets on reputation

gl though!
Report Shakepseare's Sheriff January 17, 2012 9:26 AM GMT
but isn't that what ante-post is all about...trying to find value/big prices but taking a clculated risk
Report revedesivola January 17, 2012 12:12 PM GMT
is 20/1 about a horse with a good reputation value / a big price? he may be the best thing since sliced pan but horses like him come and go every year. according, 8/1 fav for chemical nicky 2 years ago was beat in an ordinary novice hurdle by 68 lengths and hasnt won yet. antepost on other markets, gc, ryanair, world hurdle and champ hurdle along with all the big handicaps, foxhunters etc is ok because you know the probable / possible runners. antepost triumph hurdle betting is either based on what trainers say or it involves backing a horse whos opposition on the day may not have been on a racecourse yet. just my oppinion but i could name more similarities than differences between virtual betting and antepost triumph hurdle bettingWhoopsGrin

I love AP betting, but have long since accepted the Triumph is the worst possible race to try and get it right (imo of course) Good luck all the same E&B, maybe you're just better at it than me Happy

oh btw, dildar either runs this week at taunton or at the end of the month there according to nicholls.
Report sintonian January 17, 2012 3:19 PM GMT
Completely agree re the Triumph. It is without doubt, imo, the worst race to bet in ante-post. Remember Brampour last season before he made his debut ? He was a mind-boggling,gob-smakcing  and sickening 12/1. Oh dear.

Reve has mentioned the one I always think of... and thats According! I backed the horse at 20's and thought I was clever Sad

You funny reve why not post your ante-posts bets , instead of slagging others if they want to bet in Triumph Hurdle so what! Lots of punters have a go pre xmas not good idea in that race but if getting 33s or more why not?
Report revedesivola January 19, 2012 10:13 AM GMT
its 20/1 he said, thats not 33s or more! i dont bet antepost much but i dont have a problem with it, apart from this race. is just my opinion steve, back triumph hurdle horses to your hearts content if you so wish
Report stevo1 January 19, 2012 10:15 PM GMT
Ok Reve point taken, have you any chance in Handicap on Day 1, only if you could jump bit better.
Would have e/w shout.
Report revedesivola January 19, 2012 10:25 PM GMT
i could never back him againDevil

There was a trio of very pleasing winners for Paul today - so what are his plans for Dildar, Sanctuaire and Ted Spread? Read on for news on that trio and more

It was a big day for the stable at Taunton - and thankfully the big guns delivered.

All eyes were on Dildar on his hurdling debut, and I was delighted with the win. I had made no secret of the fact that he had been pleasing me at home - impressing as much in his homework as all my highly-rated, top juveniles - so some people may have been expecting a lot more from him than a narrow win.

But the track is where they have to deliver, and I was thrilled with the victory.

Yes, the level of form wouldn't be anywhere near that of Pearl Swan (officially rated 146), Ranjaan and Hinterland (141), but you only have to look at how the first two improved from their debuts to see the potential.

He jumped a bit novice-y in sticky ground but he showed his Flat speed to take the race and the experience will stand him in great stead for the bigger tasks ahead. I know everyone will want to know who I rate as my number one juvenile hope at the moment but they are all different types, and Dildar goes for the Adonis next. We will see what we have there.

Adonis plan must be a bonus for Dildar's supporters.
