Must admit to having a soft spot for this horse and got the feeling he could be a bit of value (60's) on here for the Ryanair, ran a good race last year in the QM running on into 3rd beaten by sizing and zeb, getting closer at the finish, may have lost a touch of speed in his ageing years but class none the less. Proven at cheltenham and prefers the probable good ground expected in March, don't think the Ryanair will be the strongest race on the day with options for some of the others and with Somersby (who he finished ahead of last year) trading around 20's think the Captain would be a guaranteed back to lay should he turn up on the Thursday ??

Anyone know his agenda this year as QM still a possibility ?

I too like the Captain, but feel he only finished ahead of Somersby last year due to Somersby blatantly needing further.

Somersby finished well ahead of the Captain when they both went for the Arkle the year before.

I would still be interested in CCB if he were to go for the Ryanair though at that price.

I too love the captain. He got injured in the arkle so ignore that one.

But I think he is a big price for QMCC 25/1 in a year where no horses have emerged to challenge last yrs top3 I think If he runs here he good ew value.

I'd be very surprised if CCB could win a race at the Festival this year, in the QMCC or the Ryanair.

In the QMCC he is up against the same horses but has 9 lengths to find.  Sizing Europe and Big Zeb have been running well this year, and we haven't seen CCB yet, so that must be a worry.  Finaians has got potential, and then maybe add Al Ferof into the mix.

I think he would stay the Ryanair distance, but as an 11 year old I think he'd be done by younger legs with the likes of Noble Prince, Rubi Light, Kauto Stone etc.

Not a bad shout there Titch, if he were to turn up...he has always looked a horse who would appreciate going further and at 60's he is a fair shout..not been seen since the summer however so not sure whether he is 100% but if he were and they said this was his target he wouldn't be without a fair chance..

That's the problem, we haven't seen him, and like any horse if you get towards February and your horse is yet to make his seasonal debut there has to be doubts about his wellbeing/participation.
The horse has the NH world at his feet after going past Binocular like he was a standing statue in the Supreme, injury has been cruel to the horse and he probably is just short of top class, he also probably needs cut which is unlikely to help him in March.
11 years old now, he won't be improving and will probably go down with a long line of others who failed to fulfill their early potential, and in this fellas case there was significant potential....

I think it's always been The plan he started his season early in due to the ground so he's deliberately having a break and will be back out for the spring festivals. I agree at 11 his best chance of following up his supreme win is gone, but this yrs QMCC substandard he may be 3rd best again.
