in all likelyhood will be al ferof but IF he ends up down cc route it could open the door for rock on ruby 350/1 on here nice profile for arkle if zarkandar confirms himself nicholls no1 hope and the fact ruby surely has told nicholls he wont beat a fit hf anyway i think ror could be  serious arkle material just need nicholls to see the opportunity!

oscar whiskey is an intended runner in next years arkle, now that will be a sight for sore eyes

Who knows, Rock On Ruby may have been far shorter in the betting (he is currently 14 on Betfair) had he jumped the final flight cleanly in the Christmas Hurdle on Boxing Day. But in any event you have to be thrilled with his neck second to Binocular there, with a further 8 lengths back to such a good yardstick in Overturn. He has come a long way in his two runs this season, and we know Cheltenham suits him well. The current plan is to go straight to the Festival with him.

Have said it before & will say it again very small hurdling type of horse. No chance he will go chasing this season.

BJG, hope Nicholls is right, I'm on at a big price and he's definitely one of the most progressive horses in the race at this stage. Just needs freshening up.

So who could Nichlls run in an Arkle? Toubab? Silviniaco Conti? Very little depth there.
Report revedesivola January 5, 2012 11:34 PM GMT
he might have no arkle runner. silv conti wants further than 2 and toubab probably isnt of arkle standard
Report booster January 5, 2012 11:36 PM GMT
For me, Silviniaco Conti. I was at Bangor when he won first time up last year and he doesn't lack speed although I accept that race bears no relevance in class terms. He ran in a Bula Hurdle and ran respectably but his Wincanton Chase victory was gained effortlessly showing plenty of speed. Beaten by a machine at Kempton, I doubt they'd want to take Grands Crus on again and Nicholls said after Wincanton that The King George was his race for next year so that would imply that 2 miles round Cheltenham will be OK. Can't see him beating Pipe's horse in The King George though.

I akways thought Cedre Bleu would end up in the Arkle, not seen or heard anything about him.

it may well be sc but u could say cue card has a line through him through bobs worth and had the better of him over hurdles in the bula. good point by masterminded he may not be overly big all you would need though is for him to win easy rounnd a gaff track and then uve got a good trade. all depends on al ferof but i concede its very unlikely to happen

Could Celestial Halo be given a crack? Appreciate it didn't work out 2yr ago, but has just won off 160 at Newbury.  What options have they? Now 165 for handicaps and can't win Champion Hurdle?  Just a thought.

Nicholls Arkle horse might well be Cristal Bonus, whose price has been shortened by lardblokes today. Horse is entered up over the weekend. Quite an intruiguing one, formerly trained by Evan Williams.
