The first stable tour featuring Martin Keighley was done on the At The races web site around three years ago. Since then his rise has been significant. Indeed, whereas it was once a pleasant surprise to see his runners alongside the elite on Saturday racecards it has now become almost the norm.

While he has yet to take one of the heritage handicaps it seems only a matter of time before he does so and it's possible he will get a nibble at the Welsh National on December 27 should Any Currency scrape into the weights.

Win or lose, his supporters can be assured by the fact that Keighley could hardly have his burgeoning team in better shape. With less than half of December left to run and with the busy holiday period ahead he had 25 winners carded, just two shy of the previous best achieved last season.

Here the trainer gives his opinion on the pick of the team he handles at Condicote, near Stow-on-the-Wold including some youngsters that have yet to see.

ALL FOR FREE
5 b g Atraf - Milain.
Won first chase at fourth attempt and in handicap company for the first time beating Cheney Manor 11 lengths over extended two miles at Ascot December 16 rated 110. Had been 122 over hurdles.
"I'll pick the best option of three entries before Christmas at Taunton, Ludlow and Hereford. Seems very well, bucking and squealing. He's bound to go up more than his penalty. He wants further than two miles but it played to his strengths at Ascot because it rained and he loves soft ground. He could win over two miles five. He'll take some beating next time."

ALWAYS BOLD
6 ch g King's Best - Tarakana.
Maiden in three chase attempts in June 2010 for Donald McCain when rated 125. Had dropped to 95 and 102 when winning two three mile three furlong handicap hurdles at Fontwell for present yard in November. Distant fifth to Howizee only subsequent start at Doncaster December 9 off 107.
"Ran flat at Doncaster and it may have been that he had two quick runs before Doncaster. I was told that he scared himself when he ran over fences but I'm tempted to try him again - schooled well for us. He could run before Christmas and then have a break until the spring."

ANY CURRENCY
8 b g Moscow Society - Native Bavard.
Off since November 2010 when eight lengths second of 17 to Midnight Chase at Cheltenham and produced solid comeback when four and three quarter lengths third of eight to Deep Purple in three mile six furlong handicap chase at Sandown December 3. Stayed on 133 and previous two wine came over three miles in November 2009, latter of 127.
"Cracking run at Sandown, travelled and jumped well and had a good blow turning in. He's been off for a long time and I'd expect him to come on from that. I just hope he gets into the Welsh National. He stays really well as he showed over four miles at the Cheltenham Festival in 2010. He'd have been closer than the four lengths he was beaten but for a mistake two out. He'll love heavy ground at Chepstow and would have 10st. He'd been off with a leg since he was second to Midnight Chase. If he doesn't get into the Welsh National he'll run in the three mile two handicap at Cheltenham. I hope to get him to the Grand National."

BENBANE HEAD
7 ch g Giant's Causeway - Prospectress.
Two from seven over fences since May in seven runs and rose to 138 having won off 128. Beaten three and a quarter lengths by Golan Way penultimate start over extended three miles at Sandown December 2 off 136. Never looked happy latest run when pulled up mid-race behind The Minack in three mile handicap at Ascot December 17.
"Alan Cawley said he didn't feel right at Ascot last time so pulled him up. He'd been in since the summer and that was his last run before a break. He'll be back for better ground in March and he could go for handicap chases at the Festival or Aintree. Prefers decent ground."

BRIMHAM BOY
9 ch g Minster Son - Winnie Lorraine.
Last of two chase wins in 21 starts came in May 2010 off 98. Has been to 105 and was off 100 latest start when fair seven length second of 14 to Alpha View over two and a half miles at Hereford December 11.
"Good effort last time and I think he's certainly going to be competitive off his mark next time. Doesn't stay three miles but handles soft ground alright."

BOLD TARA
4 b f Kayf Tara - Bruley.
Ability both bumper starts in August and September, latest when 20 lengths fourth of 12 to smart Hazy Tom at Worcester.
"Just back from a break but needs further than two miles. Schooled well and I'll look for a mares hurdle over two and a half or two six. Athletic and shows enough to win a mares hurdle on soft ground."

CAUGHT BY WITNESS
6 b g Witness Box - Donegans Daughter.
Sole win from 11 starts in hurdles came when rated 125 at Fakenham in January 2011. Hasn't fired in four runs since and finished tailed off fifth of eighth to Tenor Nivernais when dropping back to two miles off 120 at Haydock December 17.
"I thought he'd handle the very soft ground at Haydock last time and he didn't so I think there was something amiss. It could be that his wind is stopping him but he's better than that. Might get away with his wind on better ground."

CHAMPION COURT
6 b g Court Cave - Mooneys Hill.
Smart novice hurdler - finished 13 lengths fourth of 18 to Bobs Worth in Albert Bartlett Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. Unseated on novice chase debut but won next start over two and a half at Aintree in October by four and a half lengths from Saint Are. Second to Grands Crus, beaten ten lengths, at Cheltenham in November and 15 lengths third of five to Join Together when upped to three and a quarter miles same course December 10 when rated 149.
"A good run behind Grands Crus and he was travelling well at Cheltenham last time but the mistake three out knocked the wind out of him. He also ripped off a front shoe and he lost his action for a bit. I'm sure he stays three and a quarter because we were gaining on the second horse from the last. Crying out for softer ground and I'll have a look at the Feltham at Kempton on Boxing Day but there's a two mile five, grade two at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. That could be the one."

CONSULT
4 ch g Dr Fong - Merie.
Scored sole win from 11 hurdle starts at Stratford in July when rated 82 in novice handicap. Has been 101 in seven subsequent starts from two and a half to three miles. Was off 100 latest over three at Fakenham December 12 when length second of 11 to Abnaki.
"Knocking on the door and keeps going up the handicap for it. Only four, keeps improving and there are races for him to win. He would have the scope for fences in the New Year."

COURT IN SESSION
6 b g Court Cave - Dangerous Dolly.
Useful novice hurdler, two from three winning at Cheltenham and Ascot in October. Well beaten both novice chase starts in November, latter when tailed off in two and a half mile handicap at Ascot November 18 in race won by Quito Du Tresor. Rated 134 there and now 132.
"Lovely horse that I like a lot, jumps fantastic and it was a good performance to win with a penalty round Ascot. It's too late to try again over fences because he doesn't want soft ground and is on a little break. Good prizes for him at Cheltenham in March and Aintree in April over two and a half miles."

DE FORGOTTEN MAN
6 b g Commander Collins - Jrred Up.
Winning pointer and bumper winner and one from four in hurdlers, win coming over two miles five at Towcester December 2010. Off since January 2011 when beaten and falling three out in race won by Mister Hyde. Stays on that mark of 116.
"Miracle he's back because he broke his knee when he fell at Plumpton. Doing fast work now and could be out in February, straight over fences. Working really well."

HARD TO SWALLOW
5 b g Snurge - Nicat's Daughter.
Point and bumper winner and looks decent hurdle recruit, would have been second to very smart Fingal Bay but for falling at Chepstow latest start in two and a half mile novice October 22.
"He was just starting to pick up when he fell at Chepstow and took a crashing fall, as bad as I've seen and was concussed. Back doing fast work and I'm really pleased with him. Might run in the grade two novice hurdle at Kempton over Christmas. I'll also be looking at the two and a half mile novice at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. If he missed either then he'd run at the Cheltenham trials meeting at the end of January. Long term it's the Albert Bartlett over three miles. Doesn't want extremes of ground."

6 b g Witness Box - In Blue.
Two from six in novice hurdles when rated 127 but looks a better chaser and now two from five. Latest run a solid three and a half lengths third of nine to Astracad in two mile handicap at Cheltenham December 10 off 135. Now new career-high of 137.
"I wanted to run in the Atlantic Gold Cup at Cheltenham last time but missed the cut by one - that's his trip and he's been over the wrong distance all season. Not a two miler but he's been winning over it. Last thing he wanted last time was to be left in front three out - he needs to come late. There's a two mile five handicap at Cheltenham on New Year's Day that looks ideal. Wouldn't want heavy ground, soft is fine."

JUNIOR JACK
6 b g Kayf Tara - O My Love.
Maiden hurdler and well-beaten last three starts, latest off debut 105 in Southwell handicap hurdle over two miles five in May. Now 100.
"Wind wasn't great and he does need an operation but because he's ready for a run we've temporarily tubed him to see if it works. We did it with Jacko's Boy and won two races. We'll do the tie back and hobday in the summer. Could run at Towcester on Boxing Day or a week later at Warwick."

MANOR COURT
5 b g Court Cave - Mooneys Hill.
Ability both bumper runs, latest when 20 lengths second of five to subsequent winner Ashes House at Ffos Las November 28.
"Fine big horse that I like a lot, looks the twin of Champion Court. Really fancied him when he was beaten at Ffos Las but he didn't handle the ground. Hurdling now, proper jumping type that will start at two and a half."

MAURICETHEATHLETE
8 b g Sayarshan - Ardagh Princess.
Second win in 19 hurdle starts on latest outing over three miles on heavy at Chepstow December 3 beating Monsieur Cadou seven lengths in 18-runner handicap. Rated 105 there and now career-high 113.
"Good performance last time when he handled a step up in class but needs a good test on soft/heavy ground. Still competitive off his mark and Ffos Las before Christmas would suit him."

ONE MORE COOKIE
5 b m Old Vic - Lady Bellingham.
Best of three bumper starts on latest when 12 lengths seventh of 15 to Bonne Fee at Hereford November 17.
"Wants a real stamina test - got balloted at Towcester last time and that would have suited her - and will go there on Boxing Day for a bumper."

SPRING MOON
6 b g Anshan - Toasted Oats.
Maiden in five chase starts and one over hurdles but best effort on latest run when neck second of six to Trigger The Light in three mile five Warwick handicap December 4. Was off 102 and now career-high 105.
"Taken a long time to mature, showed nothing over hurdles but looked a chasing type and an out and out stayer on decent ground. Short break now and will be fine off this mark. A horse going the right way and jumps fantastic."

Sole win from eight hurdle starts came in May 2010 and rated 125. Started off 115 when pulled up in on chase debut in three mile Kempton handicap won by Ballagio in October. Well beaten in latest start over same trip at Market Rasen in early November when third of eight to Wyck Hill and dropped to career-low 110.
"Back from a break. I was really disappointed with him because I think so much of him. Wasn't happy with his wind after Market Rasen so he went on the treadmill at Bristol University and he's had a breathing op. Cantering now and I just hope it's worked and if it has he's on a good mark."

TYPHON DE GUYE
4 ch g Dom Alco - Mascotte De Guye.
Improved on encouraging bumper debut behind Population at Ascot when beaten a neck by Ace Fighter Pilot in similar event at Towcester November 20.
"Lovely French horse, cracking run at Ascot and unfortunate to get caught at Towcester last time. I'll stick to bumpers and he should win one alright. Could run over Christmas."

UKRANIAN STAR
8 ch g Carrowkeel - Gemmasdelemma.
Twice a winner from nine hurdle starts and two from 11 over fences. Back to Hurdles for latest win off 90 in 16-runner handicap over three and a quarter miles at Hereford December 11 beating Acosta four lengths.
"Must have a real test on soft/heavy ground - didn't handle Ludlow - and the blinkers helped last time when he went wide. Will probably switch to fences now and in at Hereford before Christmas."

UNE DAME D'OR
3 b f Astarabad - Un Pomme D'Or.
Unraced.
"Came from France and is pleasing us. Like all the youngsters I'm mentioning, she looks a bit above average."

WOLF MOON
8 b g Presenting - Toasted Oats.
Useful hurdler, four from ten and rated 132 after final start in that category when beaten a nose by Harry Hunt at Wetherby in October. Back over fences (1-10) last two outings and off 121 latest in extended three mile handicap at Bangor November 26 when three lengths third of seven to Champolimoss.
"Lost his way last season but unlucky not to win this season. Doesn't want very soft ground and he might have pulled himself around. On a break but I can't wait to get him back off 121 over fences."

Over the past five years Colin Tizzard has made steady progress to become a serious player on the jumping scene.

It wasn't until 2009-10 that he first broke through the 30-winner barrier then last season that was increased to 41.

By the end of the second week in December he looked on course to better that when he reached 23 with the win of Falcon Island at Ludlow on December 8.

The star of his squad is unquestionably Cue Card who lost nothing in defeat when beaten a short head by Bobs Worth in a novice chase at Newbury in late November when trying to concede 7lb.

As well as bringing along his young stock, Tizzard is also nurturing two of the better young conditional riders around in Brendan Powell and Stephen Clements.

No doubt there will be good opportunities for them in the coming months on some of the team he trains in Dorset which are discussed here.

CANNINGTON BROOK
7 b g Winged Love - Rosie Brook.
One win from three in hurdles and zero from seven in chases although has plenty of ability and rated 128 latest start December 3 when 15 lengths third of eight to Teaforthree in three mile novice. Had been off course since February so open to improvement.
"I thought he ran nearly his best race last time on Chepstow on heavy ground. Looked as though he'd have been second if he'd had a run. Probably go for the Tommy Whittle Chase at Haydock. I'd say his mark is fair enough but in case he doesn't go to Haydock he'll be left in the Welsh National. He's bound to have improved."

COUP ROYALE
7 b g Balleroy - Coup De Rouge.
Winning hurler when rated 106 in March 2010 and won final start of three over fences in February when beating Soixante eight lengths off 114 in two mile five handicap chase at Kempton. Went to 126 and pulled up on reappearance at Newbury in two and a half mile handicap November 26 having made early mistakes.
"We thought he had a good mark going into Newbury but he didn't really jump but he's not the easiest to train. He's alright now and two and a half miles is ok and if we get a clear run he'll be alright."

CUE CARD
5 b g King's Theatre - Wicked Crack.
Top class bumper winner at Cheltenham festival 2010 and once rated 160 as a novice hurdler at two and a half miles. Won chase debut at Chepstow in October beating Michael Flips three and a half lengths then unseated next start at Cheltenham November 11. Fine effort in defeat latest start when beaten a short head by Bobs Worth at Newbury December 25 giving the winner 7lb.
"I thought it was a lovely performance at Newbury and he'll go to Ascot on December 16 for the two mile three novice chase which is ideal. We won't go above that this season and I think he could drop back to two mile if we wanted. I think he handles soft or heavy ground fine. The Newbury performance giving weight might turn out to be one of the best of the season."

FALCON ISLAND
6 b g Turtle Island - Dolly Sparks.
Just one win from 12 hurdle starts but two from four over fences winning the latest at Ludlow December 8 beating Get It On four and a half lengths over two miles. Had dropped 2lb to 120 but sure to rise to career-high when re-rated.
"Didn't pick his bridle up the time before Ludlow at Newbury having won well at Taunton. Ran a proper race at Ludlow and I'm inclined to stay low key and there's a race at Taunton before Christmas, 0-135 novice handicap. Flat track certainly helps, I like him, and with a two miler like him you can run more often."

FLAMING CHARMER

"Gorgeous young horse that will be out in a bumper towards the end of January."

GRAND VISION
5 gr g Old Vic - West Hill Rose.
Second four times and third only other in three bumper and two novice hurdle starts, latest over nearly three miles in Hereford novice November 30 when neck second to Gullinbursti off debut mark of 114.
"Got a bit squeezed up last time at Hereford but he's a horse definitely going the right way. I'll be looking at novice handicap hurdles now because his mark doesn't look too bad. Stays well. Might make a novice chaser next season. Joe thinks he wants soft ground, I think he's fine on good."

GOLDEN CHIEFTAIN
6 b g Tikkanen - Golden Flower.
Three from six in hurdles, rated 129 in March when beating Bashford Bob six lengths in three mile handicap at Uttoxeter. Beaten 18 lengths when rated 140 and fifth of 20 in 20 runner handicap at Aintree next start. Fell on chase debut early November but won next outing over three at Uttoxeter November 24 beating Jetnova 15 lengths.
"Potentially as good a three mile novice chaser as I've had. Gorgeous looking horse, 140-rated hurdler and I don't know what he beat at Uttoxeter but he got down and powered away. He's won at tracks where stamina comes into play and I'd like to have tried him over a sharper one at Lingfield but it was abandoned. There's not a race for him now until the Feltham on Boxing Day at Kempton or Exeter on New Year's Day which looks more likely. I don't want to overface him yet."

HANDY ANDY
5 b g Beneficial - Maslam.
Won novice hurdle at Newbury in March but pulled up both subsequent outings, latest on chase debut over two miles five at Wincanton November 5 in race won by Silviniaco Conte.
"He travelled well at Aintree until Joe pulled him up on his final bumper run last season and he was lame after and had swelling around his rib cage. We thought he was right for Wincanton but he wasn't. We thought he's be a good novice chaser this season but not now. He'll be out after Christmas in hurdles and save his novice over fences."

HELL'S BAY
9 b g Supreme Leader - Queen's Flagship.
Smart novice chaser last season finishing eight lengths second of ten to Time For Rupert at Cheltenham in November. Subsequently 12 lengths second to Finian's Rainbow at Newbury over two miles then beat Medermit three quarters of a length over two miles five at Cheltenham January 1. Off course since and has jumped from 143 winning mark to 156.
"He's nearly there after getting the touch of a leg. Later coming in but looking to run over Christmas and he'll be ready. Might have an entry for a graduation chase at Ascot on December 17 over two miles five. I'm very fond of him and I'm trying to get it right first time."

HEY BIG SPENDER
8 b g Rudimentary - Jim's Monkey.
Smart chaser from two and a half to three miles-plus. Won five from 15, latest at Newcastle on November 26 beating The Hollinwell just over a length off 150. Now back to joint career-high of 156.
"He'll go for the Welsh National and I've always said he's best when he's giving weight to inferior rivals. Whether he can carry a bit weight in the Welsh National on bottomless ground is another proposition but where else would we go ? He is a stone better on heavy, though."

INSIDE DEALER
7 b g Presenting - Sea Gale.
Second of two wins from 11 over fences came over two and a half miles at Exeter in December 2010 off 113. Has finished second last three outings, most recent off 125 when 11 lengths second of nine to Midnight Haze over three and a quarter at Ludlow December 8.
"Probably went up too much in trip at Ludlow and we've got it in our mind that he's probably better going right -handed. Very consistent and I'm sure he's ok off his mark over two miles five."

JACKERS
6 ch g Carnival Dancer - Welcome Home.
Handicap hurdler, off course since April 2010 when returning to win two and a half mile Hereford handicap off 97 late November. Now career-high 104.
"Missed last season with a leg and he's come back a big, heavy boy and I might even send him over fences next. He's entered at Towcester on December 15 in a two mile six novice handicap 0-105. He's never schooled over hurdles this season. It was quite a surprise that he won at Hereford."

JUMPS ROAD
4 b g Clerkenwell - Deletia.
Ability in three bumpers and unfortunate to stumble and fall on hurdle debut at Chepstow in October.
"Wasn't quite right after Chepstow but he's going to Towcester on December 15. It wasn't his fault that he fell at Chepstow, it was three strides after the hurdle. He's a good worker at home, far better than last season - but now he's got to prove it on the track over two miles - plenty of pace."

MILARROW
4 b g Milan - Fleeting Arrow.
Best of three bumper runs when four lengths second to Tour D'Argent over 13 furlongs at Newbury in January. Beaten 24 lengths when sixth of 14 to Moorland Sunset on two mile hurdle debut at Exeter December 2.
"Looks as though he wants to go up in trip, jumps alright. I thought he'll progress but he hasn't yet."

MOUNT OSCAR
12 b g Oscar - Sweet Mount.
Useful handicap chaser from two and a half to three miles, has won three from 16 but best effort probably final run in February when length and a quarter second of 16 to Quinz in three mile Racing Post Chase at Kempton off 140. Now career-high 145.
"He did a check-ligament in the Racing Post Chase which is probably what stopped him up the run-in. That was the best performance of his life and he'd have been out by now but got some puss in his foot. He'll be out in January and there will be veterans races around but he didn't start racing until late. He was in cracking form until he got the foot problem."

MR BINGLEY
3 b g Generous - Fiancée.
Unraced.
"Lovely horse, worked really well a month ago then we backed off him but he'll be out after Christmas. He's alright."

OISEAU DE NUIT
9 b g Evening World - Idylle Du Marais.
Smart handicap chaser best at two miles. Won sixth of 26 starts in Grand Annual Handicap at Cheltenham in March off 145. Went to career high 154 and off 152 third start this season when five and a half lengths fourth of nine to Astracad over two miles at Cheltenham December 10.
"The Grand Annual panned out beautifully for him, travelled, jumped and he looked the winner for a lot of the time. I do think he's a better horse in the sprint even though he ran well at Cheltenham last time. We won't try him over further than two miles again and he'll win something once he's on the right mark."

OHIO GOLD
5 b g Flemensfirth - Kiniohio.
Useful novice but without a win in eight previous starts when beating Joseph Lister a length and a quarter in two mile five novice at Folkestone November 28. Had dropped from 134 to 128 and stays on that rating.
"Although he won over further at Folkestone I think he's just as effective at two miles. He went to Folkestone for an easy race but he still ran into a decent one of Henderson's and it wasn't a pushover. He could even go over fences now, he's six after Christmas and he is a beautiful jumper. We're still deciding but here do seem some very good novices about this season."

QUEEN'S BAY
5 b m Karinga Bay - Minibelle.
Bumper winner over 14 furlongs in February and won second hurdle start over two miles at Towcester in November beating Steady Girlfriend six lengths. Handicapper appears to have taken no chances with debut mark of 119.
"I don't know where her handicap mark came from but she'll stay in novices and will probably go to Wincanton on Boxing Day in a mares race, two miles or two miles six but we don't really know her right trip yet."

ROYAL GUARDSMAN
4 b g King's Theatre - Lisa Du Chenet.
Won debut in Fontwell bumper in April and solid reappearance in same class of event when eight lengths fourth of 17 to Sir Johnson under penalty at Aintree in October.
"It was no coincidence that when he got beaten at Aintree it was during a spell when a lot of the horses weren't running very well. He wasn't quite right, looked as though he'd had a hard race but he's beaming now. He'll have another bumper after Christmas when we'll see how good he is. When we were getting him ready he worked with Cue Card and went better on the run up to Cheltenham and then Aintree. He's a good horse."

SEW ON TARGET
6 b g Needle Gun - Ballykea.
Ability both bumpers, distant third to Tiger Maguire on latest at Chepstow on heavy December 3.
"We tried to hold him up at Chepstow because he was very free in his points and we ran him from the front on his debut at Taunton but it didn't work. He'll go over hurdles now - quite a nice horse that will pop out in front at somewhere like Taunton and see how good he is."

SONG SUNG BLUE
8 b g Supreme Leader - Greenflag Princess.
Useful novice chaser in 2009-10 and rated 139 final start in April when ten lengths seventh of ten to Burton Port in three mile grade two at Aintree. Off course until fading to finish distant sixth of eight to As De Fer in three mile handicap at Ffos Las and now 129.

Won two and a half mile novice hurdle at Chepstow in October beating Kanturk four and a half lengths. Outclassed into fourth behind Molotof at Wincanton next start. Rated 117 and tailed off most recent run over two miles six at Newcastle November 26.
"Get very nervous before his races, he was nervous travelling to Wincanton and we were concerned about taking him to Newcastle. He settled after an hour but he's run his race as we were getting him saddled. We've got to stop him worrying so he's off for six weeks and we'll look at a spring campaign. His mark is ok."

THIRD INTENTION
4 b g Azamour - Third Dimension.
Improving second season novice hurdler, Started on 143 and off 142 second start when encouraging eight lengths seventh of 23 to Brampour in grade three handicap hurdle at Cheltenham November 13.
"The Ladbroke at Ascot on December 17 is his main aim and he'll have a tongue tie that will help him. I rode him myself recently and it's worth remembering that when he ran last time we were going through a five week patch without having had a winner. They are running much better now. He hasn't got to improve much to be involved at Ascot because we made enough use of him at Cheltenham and Joe's not convinced that he likes the hill. We're looking forward to Ascot."

VIRGINIA ASH
3 b g Definite Article - Peace Time Girl.
Unraced.
"Brother to Court In Motion, lovely horse that will be starting in bumpers towards the end of January. Really like him."

XAARCET
4 b g Xaar - Anoukit.
Decent bumper debut when 11 lengths seventh of ten to Population in Ascot bumper late October.
"I don't think he was right when he ran because we thought he was the business at home. He'll be out again just after Christmas - an alright horse, better than he's shown."

THE KNOWLEDGE
FALCON ISLAND: may be better suited by flat tracks.
GOLDEN CHIEFTAIN: is held in exceptionally high regard.
GRAND VISION: is one to look out for in novice handicap hurdles.
HELL'S BAY: is well on the way back and could be interesting in graduation chases.
ROYAL GUARDSMAN: has produced some special bits of homework.
The trainer considered that FLAMING CHARMER, MR BINGLY and VIRGINIA ASH are as nice a trio of young bumper horses that he's had.

There is no doubt that the power base of jumping has shifted to the western side of the British Isles - and not just Somerset.

South Wales now has a conglomerate all of its own with the likes of Evan Williams, Tim Vaughan and Peter Bowen.

However, over the last three seasons a lady from Newport has begun elbowing her way amongst the men - Rebecca Curtis.

After a low key start she has increased her winning figures each season over the last three and already she looks certain to set another personal best in this campaign.

She received a major boost when taking onto the training roster of J P McManus and has her customary phalanx of youngsters coming through.

Here she talks about the pick of her team.

ALWAARY
5 b g Dynaformer - Tabrir.
Useful middle distance performer for John Gosden - best run when four lengths fourth of nine to Conduit in 2009 King George at Ascot and rated 118 after that. Only five runs after with no success and off 99 latest when 15 lengths sixth of ten to Census in 13 furlong group three at Newbury in August.
"Schooled and is a brilliant jumper but like a lot of the older flat horses, he came a little bit sour he's sweetened up well now. I think he'll be a nice hurdler."

BANYAN TREE
4 b g Danehill Dancer - User Friendly.
One from six over hurdles, sole win came in Worcester novice hurdle in July and rated 128 on that. Off since August when running off that mark latest start when tailed off eighth of nine to Grey Gold in Bangor handicap hurdle November 26. Now 122.
"He is more of a spring/summer horse but he'll run on December 8 at Ludlow in a claimer where he would seem to have a very good chance."

BALAKLAVA
3 gr/b g Dalakhani - Balanka.
Ability sole start in 13 furlong Exeter bumper in October finishing three quarters of a length second of six to Megan's Motivator.
"He's a lovely horse that we'll take to Cheltenham on New Year's Day for the bumper. He's improved a lot for Exeter even though he's still quite babyish and slightly softer ground would suit. A talented horse that will get better with age."

FAMILY THREE

Second in Irish point and eased when beaten on heavy ground British bumper debut at Chepstow December 3 in race when by Tiger Maguire.
"We needed to get a run into him which is why he ran at Chepstow but it was too heavy and he'll be much better on decent ground."

FIRST QUARTER
4 b g Old Vic - Webb Find.
Started 5-1 for bumper debut at Ffos Las November 28 but well beaten third of five to Ashes House.
"Very nice horse that ran on heavy which didn't suit him at Ffos Las. You'll see a much better horse on decent ground. Might look for another bumper before hurdles."

FISHOUTOFWATER
7 ch g Old Vic - Frost Bound.
Useful dual novice hurdle winner in early 2011 and rated 120. Disappointing all three novice chase starts although latest looks better when distant fifth of 15 to Oscar Gogo when upped to two and a half miles at Chepstow December 3 off 117
"He did well enough at Chepstow because he'll probably be better suited by further than two and a half, possibly three miles. The ground was heavy and he'll be better on better ground."

GOD OF THE KOP
4 ch g Old Vic - Liss Rua.
Plenty to like about bumper debut at Newbury November 24 when seven lengths second of eight to Barenger.
"Lovely horse that I think would have won any average bumper but came up against a good one at Newbury. They were a long way clear of the third and I think he'll win a bumper although he'll want a trip in time."

HERONS WELL
8 b g Heron Island - The Storm Bell.
Useful hurdler/chaser and rated 138 when starting hunter chase career in February. Successful once in six starts and rated 135 final run in May when three and a half lengths fourth of 14 to Southwestern in three and a half mile event at Stratford.
"He's coming back for the hunter chases and will be ready as soon as they start in the New Year. He'll go back to Cheltenham for the festival where he was unfortunate to unseat and then Aintree where he was brought down when he was travelling well."

HIGH STORM
4 b g High Chaparral - Lady Storm.
Maiden over hurdles but shows ability despite being beaten latest run when distant fourth of 12 to Top Of The Range in two and a half mile maiden hurdle at Ffos Las November 21. Had finished three lengths second of 18 to Distime in two mile novice at Bangor earlier that month and seems rated on that with debut mark of 121.
"I got it wrong at Ffos Las when I thought the step up in trip would suit him but it didn't or he hated the bad ground. He'll be dropped back to a strongly run two miles and it might suit him at Cheltenham on December 9."

MADE IN TIME
6 b/br g Zagreb - No Easy Way.
Useful hurdler and rated 119 when successful on novice chase debut in two and a half mile contest at Ffos Las in early November beating Rio Gale 34 lengths. Up to 122 when unseating at the ninth in novice handicap won by Roalco Des Farges over three miles at Newbury November 26.
"I don't know why he's jumped slightly to his right in his last two races which he's never done before or at home. I'll sent him right-handed next time and he is a brilliant jumper at home. It's possible he's been a bit too fresh for his first two runs and will get better as the season goes on and he quietens down. Soft ground is fine and he'll stay three miles."

MEGANISI
4 b g Galileo - Cland Di San Jore.
Two-year-old winner in Italy and ability at three. Well beaten on hurdle debut in two mile event won by Court In Session at Cheltenham in October.
"He bled at Cheltenham and that may be because he's taking a long time to acclimatise having come to us from Rome. We also gelded him which has knocked him about. I do think a lot of this horse but it will take time to get him built up."

MEISTER ECKHART
5 b/br g Flemensfirth - Carrabawn.
Two from two in Irish bumpers September and October when trained by Charlie Swan.
"We've schooled him over hurdles and he's very, very good. He'll be running Christmas time but wants very soft ground, proper stayed and will be a nice three mile novice."

OLD WIGMORE
6 ch g Old Vic - Wigmore.
Useful novice hurdler rated 124 and looks a better chase prospect after two runs. Finished half length second to Comehomequietly in three mile novice at Ffos Las in October. Won next outings over same trip at Exeter November 20 beating Simply Wings seven lengths off 122 and now 131.
"He's much stronger this season, was quite weak before, and he's going the right way now. We've managed to keep weight on him and he stayed very well at Exeter. I'll probably look for a normal novice chase next time given his rating and look at the better novice handicap chases in the spring."

ONE TERM
4 b g Beneficial - One Edge.
Progress bumper, winning last two of four starts, latest beating Jumbill a length and a quarter at Cheltenham November 13.
"Showed a great attitude round Cheltenham and is improving all the time. I don't think you could ask him to do much more in bumpers having won two and he's entered for a novice hurdles over two and a half and two six at Hereford on December 11. Jumps brilliant and I hope he's going to be a nice novice for the rest of this season. He was always having to force the pace over two miles and the longer trip will suit him."

PECKHAMECHO

Improving novice hurdle winning last two starts, latest over two miles at Bangor November 26 beating Saves Time by 49 lengths. Upped 13lb to 132.
"Lovely horse that is taking a bit of time, quite weak, and is a cracking two-mile chaser in the making. We'll go up a grade over hurdles now and see how good he is. He was beaten over two miles five at Cheltenham in October and while I think he'll get that trip in time he's got plenty of gears for two miles when he can bowl along. He's better on slightly softer ground."

ROYAL REVERIE

One from ten on the flat for Walter Swinburn around a mile. Highest rating of 75.
"Looked like a proper little juvenile hurdler when I saw him and I was surprised to get him for only £3,000. Schools brilliant and I think he'll be a nice juvenile. I thought he was a bargain.

SALOMO
5 b g Monsun - Salka.
Winner over 12 furlongs at Deauville in July, improved second hurdle start when 19 lengths third to stablemate Peckhamecho in two mile novice at Ffos Las early November.
"He needs to learn to settle because he holds his breath so hopefully with age he'll learn to settle and breath better. He looks like he'll be suited by better ground so he could be one for the spring. Everyone who's ridden him has said better ground."

SCOTER FONTAINE
5 b g Sleeping Car - Blanche Fontaine.
Maiden hurdler from two to two and a half miles. Going ok second chase start when falling at the seventh in novice handicap won by Bless The Wings over two and a half at Exeter November 20. Rated 114 and had been 117 over hurdles.
"Has been a little bit disappointing but he's on a mark he should be plenty capable of winning off. Pacey enough for two miles but would get two and a half and handles soft ground alright."

TEAFORTHREE
7 b g Oscar - Ethel's Bay.
Staying novice handicap chaser that reached 138 over hurdles winning once. Appreciated heavy ground third and latest start over fences at Chepstow December 3 beating Restless Harry three and a half lengths in three mile novice handicap off 137.
"He loved the heavy ground at Chepstow last time and I thought he was very impressive. It's a shame he didn't qualify when the entries for the Welsh National came out. It might be a blessing though because it gives him the chance to take advantage of being a novice this season. AP (McCoy) said after that he was ideal for the four-miler at Cheltenham if the ground rode quicker but on heavy ground, three is fine."

Finished length and a half second of seven to Court Minstrel on bumper debut at Ludlow November 21 starting 2-1.
"Out of a sister to Monet's Garden and I thought he did very well at Ludlow because Evan Williams thought a lot of the winner. Our horse was a bit green and had to do it from the front three furlongs out and will have come on a lot for it. He should win his bumper next time on slightly better ground."

In front when running out on second bumper start at Ludlow in early October.
"Not really a bumper horse, green and backward, and I think you'll see a better horse over hurdles - possibly three miles. He's a good jumper that will be suited by better ground being by Presenting."

Second both bumpers, latest looks best when length and three quarter behind Heavenstown at Ffos Las in October.
"Was weak and we ran him on ground that was probably too quick for him so he had a couple of months off and he's just back in work. Should be ready late January, early February. I think he should win a bumper alright."

TOTAL COMMAND
4 b g Sadler's Wells - Wince.
One from ten over middle distances on the flat with Sir Michael Stoute. Had been 107 in 2010 but down to 95 final start in September. Yet to race for present yard.
"He's done plenty of schooling and will be ready to run towards Christmas. His best run was when he was third in the Queens Vase at Royal Ascot. He would want better jumping ground."

VEGAS CASH
4 ch g Muhtarram - Drewstown Lady.
Well beaten third of eight to Shutthefrontdoor on bumper debut at Ffos Las November 21 but started 2-1 favourite.
"It was the ground that got him beaten at Ffos Las on his debut. Jason Maguire said that cantering down it was too soft for him. I think a lot of this horse, could be good, and it's just a matter of finding the right ground. One of our nicest bumper horses."

THE KNOWLEDGE

Few trainers have had their horses in better form throughout November than Emma Lavelle.

Until the end of the Hennessy weekend at Newbury she had left behind her previous monthly total of 12 earned a year ago with 14 slotted for this November.

Perhaps the most exciting facet of her success so far this season is the number of wins registered by young horses.

However she still has a solid back up of more experienced performers both over hurdles and fences which she oversees with her partner, Barry Fenton, near Andover.

Here she speaks about a broad selection of a precocious and talented team.

BALLYCARNEY
7 b g Classic Cliche - Rhythm Hill.
Useful handicap chaser over three miles winning twice in 2010 off 122 and 128. Off since last of those wins in October until October this year when well beaten on Wincanton return. Much better effort only subsequent start off 2lb lower mark of 133 when nine lengths fourth of 11 to Prophete De Guye over three at Ascot November 18. Now 132.
"It was a good effort at Ascot last time and he's entered for Sandown on December 2 for the London marathon and so long as the ground stays good then he'll go. If it went too soft I would switch him back to hurdles and somewhere like Taunton where the ground is good. Over three miles they can go a bit quick and get him out of his comfort zone. He doesn't want it soft."

BENIGN DICTATOR
4 b g Flemensfirth - Old Moon.
Won racecourse debut in Haydock bumper November 19 beating Makari half a length.
"Tall and raw and will get better - naturally talented. I'm hoping to take it easy then go for a grade two bumper in February."

BLACK NODDY
5 b g Heron Island - Shady's Wish.
Encouraging bumper debut November 2010 when three and three quarter lengths third of 13 to Lucky Landing at Uttoxeter.
"Had little issues that stopped him last season but is entered to run everywhere. Went to Newbury on November 27 and did a really good racecourse gallop and came thorough it fine. Looking at a two and a half mile novice hurdle. Has a big engine."

CAMAS BRIDGE
5 ch g Alflora - Bopupandown.
Maiden hurdler with ability in two attempts, latest when 12 lengths third of 14 to Rose Of The Moon in three mile event at Uttoxeter November 24.
"At Uttoxeter it looked a case of how far he was going to win then didn't appear to get home. It's possible he could be a two miler and not three or there might not be something quite right with his wind. I don't know which so I'll try a shorter trip first."

CAPTAIN SUNSHINE
5 b g Oscar - Gaye Fame.
Encouraging bumper debut when four and three quarter lengths third of 18 to Montbazon in Doncaster bumper in March.
"He did a good bit of work at Newbury on November 27 and he appears to be flying. He's entered for Warwick on December 4 in a two and a half mile maiden hurdle. Doesn't want extremes of ground. Schooled well and his work is excellent."

CHARIOT CHARGER
7 b g Oscar - Queen Boadicea.
Rated 136 final start in March 2010 when eighth of 15 to Mith Hill in three mile handicap hurdle at Bangor having had good placed form in novice chases. Returned November 12 and beat Universal Soldier a length in ten runner chase over three miles at Uttoxeter off 130. Now 138.
"I've been very, very easy on him after Uttoxeter because he's been off the track a long time and there is always the bounce factor. Back cantering now but I don't think he truly stays three miles so he'll run over less. He'll be out over Christmas and he does want give in the ground. I think his mark is ok."

CLARET CLOAK
4 b g Vinnie Roe - Bewildered.
Smart bumper debut at Wincanton November 5 when beating Rally The Troops six lengths in 17 runner event.
"He does nothing exceptional in his work, just does what you ask him. He's sharpened up for the Wincanton win. He's going for the listed bumper at the Ascot Christmas meeting and I think he's fully entitled to go. Although he's good over hurdles, they'll be kept for next season."

COURT VICTORY
6 b g Old Vic - Sarah's Smile.
Won sole Irish point in March 2010. Unraced since.
"Lovely horse that might run at Chepstow on December 3 and will go straight over fences having missed last season which was his hurdle campaign. Jumps well."

DAYMAR BAY

Won 2010 bumper and decent effort on second start over hurdles when 11 lengths second to Arab League in two mile novice at Taunton November 10.
"Doesn't want the ground too soft but the ground had been so firm that we hadn't done enough schooling with him on grass when he ran first time over hurdles. He was much better last time and in time he'll get two and a half miles."

EASTER DANCER
4 ch f Karinga Bay - Easter Comet.
Ability sole bumper start November 17 at Hereford when four and three quarter lengths fourth of 15 to Bonne Fee.
"Very pleased with her first effort and there's a bumper for her at Towcester on December 15. She shows more at home than the other members of the family. Travelled well for much of the Hereford race and jumps particularly well."

EASTER METEOR
5 b g Midnight Legend - Easter Comet.
Maiden hurdler rated 119. Won novice debut over two and a quarter miles at Exeter November 9 beating George Nympton 11 lengths.
"Might not have beaten a great deal at Exeter but did it well. That was his minimum trip because he'll get further but that was a good start and his jumping was super. Came out of it very well. I'll have a look at a normal novice and a handicap."

ELEGANT TOUCH
5 b m Kayf Tara - Faucon.
Bumper winner who won second hurdle attempt beating Zennor 18 lengths in 16 runner novice over two miles at Lingfield November 22.
"The target is still the mares final at Newbury but after winning like she did it will be a bit harder now. Having said that she will improve again for Lingfield and stepping up in trip will help, too."

FONTANO
5 gr g Astrabad - Little Bud.
Won first of eight hurdle starts when moving up to extended three miles and winning Kempton handicap by four lengths from Phar Isle off 115 on November 21.
"I got his trip wrong because he'd always shown pace at home but he was going over two miles then getting run out of it. He did take a while to get going over three at Kempton but he does need decent ground."

FOX APPEAL
4 b g Brian Boru - Lady Appeal.
Left bumper form behind when beating Karinga Dancer eight lengths in two and a half mile novice hurdle at Fontwell November 13.
"He was very green last time going past the paddock entrance but he was fine after that. Loves jumping, not very big and has always worked nicely. I might give him some time between his next run as he did fall away after a relatively quick reappearance last season. Will stay further."

GLEANN EAGAS
4 b g Gold Well - Glen Princess.
Ability in two bumpers and left hurdle debut behind on latest start when eight length winner over Aikideau in two mile novice at Plumpton November 14.
"He nearly came down on his hurdle debut at Exeter then nearly refused at the second so he probably ran ok. Had shown plenty at home but like a lot of the family is headstrong so he raced prominently at Plumpton and it suited him. The win didn't surprise us but I'll be looking at tracks that suit horses that race on the pace."

GULLINBURSTI

Won third bumper start in Ireland and won hurdle debut over two miles six at Exeter November 9 beating Curtain Razer two and a quarter lengths.
"Hard as nails and has improved again for Exeter. Will run next at Hereford on November 30 over two miles six. A bit novicey with his hurdling last time so I didn't want to over face him next time."

HIGHLAND LODGE
5 b g Flemensfirth - Supreme Von Pres.
Irish point winner and won hurdle debut over 22 furlongs at Exeter November 9 beating Trafalgar ten lengths.
"Definitely wants some cut in the ground but I do think he is a very nice horse, a proper one. He's entered for the Winter Novice Hurdle at Sandown on December 2 but I can't see the ground being soft enough. He's in at Chepstow the following day in a three mile novice and the Albert Bartlett Novice at the Cheltenham December meeting."

JUHD
3 gr g Nayef - Norfolk Lavender.
Won bumper debut in 13 furlong contest at Lingfield November 22 beating Fire Chief a length and a half.
"A horse I ride every day, one that I really like but I didn't think he was quite ready for Lingfield so I was delighted with his win. No doubt that he will improve immeasurably for that because it was only two weeks before that he began to pull himself together. The plan is to go for the four-year-old bumper at Cheltenham on New Year's Day then take a view on future plans. Very laid back and he does jump."

KENTFORD GREY LADY
5 gr m Silver Patriarch - Kentford Grebe.
Bumper winner in February and won third hurdle start when upped to two mile five at Newbury November 24 beating Miss Milborne five lengths.
"Improved from race to race now that she's relaxing. It all came right at Newbury and she'll improve again from that because she was still carrying condition, she was 20 kilos heavier than when she won her bumper which shows how much she'd developing. The long term plan is the mares hurdle final at Newbury next year."

KUSADIKI
5 b g Tobougg - Mother Molly.
Ability in two bumpers and won hurdle debut over two and a half miles at Fontwell November 4 beating Duke Of Monmouth three quarters of a length.
"The name means optimist in Swahili. He's entered at Chepstow on December 3 and is very straightforward but wants cut in the ground. He'll be entered for two and a half and three mile novice hurdles and I'll have a look at both."

LE BEC
3 ch g Smadoun - Le Pelode.
Unraced.
"Half brother to Tocco Ferro and will run in a three-year-old bumper between now and Christmas and shows enough to win one."

OFF THE GROUND
5 b g Oscar - Kaysei.
Ability in sole point and 18 lengths fourth of 14 to Mister Dillon in two and a half mile novice hurdle at Lingfield November 8.
"Beautiful horse but green last time so didn't have a hard time. Of all the horses I've run this season he is the one that will improve the most for his debut."

RAVENCLAW
8 b g Blueprint - Enchanted Heart.
Off track since October 2010 when distant seventh of 11 to Gambo in two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Chepstow in October off 119. Off 116 subsequent start when 17 lengths tenth of 18 to Enfant De Lune over same trip in Sandown handicap.
"He's going to Chepstow on December 3 in a handicap hurdle. He bled both his starts last year which explains the poor performances. He's been fine this season and after two good runs he's ready to knuckle down and win his race."

STAIGUE FORT
3 b g Kirkwall - Mulberry Wine.
Ability both bumper starts, latest November 16 when 18 lengths fifth of 16 to The New One at Warwick over 14 furlongs.
"His first run at Exeter was fine but at Warwick he thought he'd go back to the stables rather than go round the bend. To finish fifth having gone so wide he did alright. He needs a bit more experience so he'll go for the three-year-old bumper at Exeter on December 2. He'll have to learn how to race."

PAUSE AND CLAUSE
7 b g Saddler's Hall - Silver Glen.
Two wins from 13 starts over hurdle and maiden chaser in five starts. Has been 143 and was off 137 latest start at Haydock in May when pulling up in hurdle won by Liberate.
"Fractured his pelvis at Haydock but is coming on nicely and had a nice spin over three miles at Newbury on November 27. He's probably going to the Cheltenham December meeting and it's down to him mentally whether he wants to be a racehorse. In great nick and really well in himself."

PENNY MAX
5 b g Flemensfirth - Ballymartin Trix.
Bumper winner at Folkestone November 2010, maiden in two hurdle attempts and encouraging chase debut off 118 when eight lengths third of eight to Prince Du Seuil in two and a half mile handicap at Plumpton November 14.
"I thought Plumpton was a good effort because everything happened too quick around there and he was a novice against handicappers. He's in at Chepstow on December 3 but Newbury on December 14 is more likely for a two mile six novice handicap chase."

QIANSHAN LEADER
7 b g Anshan - Gaelic Leader.
Rated 119 when beating Kealshore Boy a length and a half in two mile three handicap chase at Doncaster in March. Went to 127 without success and back to 122 latest run when beating Inside Dealer a length and a quarter in two mile five handicap at Kempton November 21.

Won hurdle debut October 2010 and first rating of 116. Off that mark latest start when seven lengths third of 13 to Master Overseer in three mile handicap at Chepstow November 2. Now 118.
"I think he's still ok off this mark and he goes back to Chepstow on December 3 having run there so well before when he might just have needed it. It cannot be soft enough for him. He could run in either the handicap hurdle or novice chase as he jumps very well."

Won final two starts of 2010, latest when beating Rebel Dancer two and a quarter lengths in two mile handicap at Newbury in November off 134. Off track since.
"Just coming into work now doing two and a half hours walking a day. Tendon scans have been done and look fine but won't be out until February. I think he's still well handicapped and I'll look at something like the Imperial Cup."

WELL REGARDED
6 b g Dr Massini - Glenelly Valley.
Maiden bumper but won hurdle debut by three lengths from El Padrino over two three at Fontwell in October. Beaten next two starts but good effort latest in grade two novice at Cheltenham November 13 when nine lengths fourth of 10 to Fingal Bay.
"Cracking horse that ran well last time and one that I think is made for decent handicaps because he has a high cruising speed. Wouldn't want the ground too soft. I've entered him for a Pertemps Qualifier at Sandown on December 3."

THE KNOWLEDGE
BLACK NODDY: can make up for lost time in two and a half mile novice hurdles.
CAPTAIN SUNSHINE: is putting in some very pleasing homework and must be monitored.
COURT VICTORY: is ready to make up for lost time over fences having missed hurdles.
GULLINBURSTI: will be kept to a low grade next time before stepping up.
HIGHLAND LODGE: is one to look out for when there's some mud about.
OFF THE GROUND: is expected to leave the previous run well behind next time.
ROYAL COMMISSION: is ready to win his bumper next time.
STOLEN THUNDER: will come into his own over hurdles or fences when it's very muddy.

This has already been a good season for Charlie Mann in at least one respect as he has his stable jockey, Noel Fehily back in one piece.

Mann was without him from December last season and the season before that he was missing from January.

Mann is something of a nurturer of young talent and having had Fehily from the start of his career he also helped other youngsters such as the currently sidelined Peter Toole and Kevin Tobin.

So it is of interest when the trainer says he has a high regard of his latest claimer Gavin Sheehan.

He can look forward to some quality rides from Mann who has brought the smart mare How's Business back from a long layoff to win first time.

The trainer is astute at sourcing young horses from Germany where he acquired the moody but still talented Moon Over Miami and mentions his new imports here together with some other unexposed horses alongside the more experienced performers he trainers at Upper Lambourn.

AIRMAN'S FRIEND
5 b g Craigsteel - High Academy
Maiden hurdler, pulled up latest start in two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Wincanton November 17 but good effort previous outing when four and three quarter lengths fourth of 13 to Merehead at Ascot off current mark of 103.
"We've had a couple coughing and not quite right and I think he might have been one when he ran last time when I thought he was a good thing. It was a good run the previous time at Ascot and he is a nice horse. I'd have been more disappointed if he'd been all out to be second and I do think he's got a good mark over two and a half to two miles six."

BENCH WARRENT
8 b g Witness Box - Tee Aitch Kay
Useful staying chaser rated 132 in 2010 and high 120's through last season until pulling up in Midlands National at Uttoxeter in March when out of handicap and off revised 133. Yet to race since and off 129.
"Just been waiting for soft ground and was running alright in the Welsh National when he fell at the eighteenth. His mark is high enough but he's capable of winning a decent staying chase."

CHARMING LAD
6 b g Dushyantor - Glens Lady.
Maiden hurdler with ability and rated 115 final three starts of last season, latest coming in extended three mile handicap at Kempton on March. Finished nine lengths fourth of nine to Kasban and stays on same mark.
"Nice horse, had a couple of chips removed from his knees at the beginning of the season so he is a little bit behind the others but he's in full work. It could have been hindering him last season and he'll run in December when he'll go novice chasing - which is what he was bought for. Wants a bit of cut."

DUKE OF MONMOUTH
4 b g Presenting - Hayley Cometh.
Improved on sole bumper outing when highly encouraging three quarters of a length second to Kusadiki in two and a half mile Fontwell novice hurdle November 4.
"I ran him on possibly unsuitable ground last time but he got to the front then didn't really know what to do. A proper horse that will have a fairly quiet season although he should win his novice. Although he'd get further I would probably keep him to two and a half. Tough, and has come out of his last race very well."

DUN SEE DEE
7 b m Flemensfirth - Crafty Classy.
Point/bumper winner that has finished third twice and second once in three hurdle starts, latest in two mile five maiden at Leicester in January. Finished 11 lengths third of 13 to Bianco Fuji off 119 and stays on that mark.
"Fractured her pelvis when she was third at Leicester last season. Buzzy little thing but quite forward despite having six months in a box. She'll run in December and will win a mares maiden hurdle and I think she's be better than that."

ENTER PARADISE
7 ch g Moscow Society - Cappamore Girl.
Pointer and encouraging nine length second of 15 to My Flora in three and a half mile hunter chase at Stratford in May. Yet to race for present yard.
"Haven't had him that long so still finding out about him but he seems ok and certainly jumps."

FINE PARCHMENT
8 b g Presenting - Run For Cover.
Five from 19 over fences, finished two and a half length second of nine to Hector's Choice in two and a half mile chase at Aintree in October rated 135. Ran better than final placing suggests when out of handicap and ninth of 20 to Great Endeavour in two mile five handicap at Cheltenham November 12. Running off 144 there and now back to 138.
"Out of his comfort zone at Cheltenham last time when they went too quick for him. Likes to be able to travel and he was flat out. His target now is the Grand Sefton at Aintree in December. The fences will be fine and it's his ideal trip, two five. Goes on most ground apart from quick."

GREYFRIARS DRUMMER
3 ch g Where Or When - Loveleaves.
Rated 90 after winning ten furlong Pontefract maiden for Mark Johnston in April. Without a win in six subsequent middle distance outings and down to 78 final run on flat in October. Yet to race for present yard.
"Been gelded recently and I like him, big horse that hasn't started strong work yet but should be ready in January."

HOW'S BUSINESS

Off since May 2009 when cantering home in three runner two mile five novice chase at Wincanton November 17 that was left a match when favourite fell. Was off 134 and stays on that mark.
"She's a good mare, finished sixth to Quevega at Cheltenham then got a leg and was within a day of coming back then fractured her pelvis. Had been out for a long time when she came back at Wincanton but jumped superbly. I'll be disappointed if she gets beaten in any of those mares chases. Her next race will be at Exeter on December 18 with the mares final at Newbury as her main target."

Maiden hurdler in eight attempts from two to two and a half miles, latest run off 106 when 12 lengths fourth of 13 to Mighty Monty in 21 furlong handicap at Uttoxeter November 12. Stays on that mark.
"I think he wants further than two miles five but I'm sure he wants decent whatever the trip. He's in at Taunton on November 24 over three. He should win off his mark."

MARINGO BAY
