i wouldn't trust that form we just saw.

I think Walkon will go for Jewson.  Zaynar looked good today, but can you trust him next time!!!!!!

must be great not having a job watching mid week racing

When you have retired, you can watch any racing. Hard to know what Zeynar will do as you say. He went backwards over hurdles after starting really well and Aga Khan progeny seldom make chasers but he looked good today.

Funny horse really he must have shown some real spark this week because he was backed like a good thing. He was a totally different horse to when he ran against Walkon the other day & how he has been for a couple of seasons now. Something must have clicked with the horse he had a totally different attitude.

talk about ramping, Celtic.

Zaynar showed speed over 19f on Soft ground.

Pointless thread..

Walkon will either go for the Jewson or up to 3 miles..

Alan King has made this very clear...garbage thread this....

In fact what is happening here, is somebody has had 5 pounds on at 50's for the Arkle thinking he has got an edge when really he should just do a little homework, cause the horse is a 25-1 chance of even turning up in the Arkle...

Alan King...

Some bookmakers have quoted Walkon at 16-1 for the Arkle at Cheltenham in March, but Alan was quick to advise punters to shy away from that offer.
He said: “That was a big relief, but I would be surprised if Walkon was an Arkle horse.
“I hoped he would go very close and thought that he might even win, but I never expected him to produce a performance like that.
“That was a proper race and he never put a foot wrong, but I think that we will be sticking to two and a half miles for the time being and come Cheltenham in March I would imagine that we would either be staying at that trip or moving up to three miles. I can’t see us dropping back in distance myself, but you never say never at this game, and I have been known to change my mind.”

dont sit on the fence harry, tell us what u really think...!

I've already stated I've backed in for the Arkle, but with bookmakers so not interested in laying it off.

Pathetic and narrow minded attitude by anyone to not reconsider plans. Captain Chris probably always wanted three miles, shapes like he will get three miles, but won an Arkle. Walkon has loads more speed than Medermit, but they ran him in the Arkle, so going for the Jewson with Walkon will make no sense.

You don't need to be a speedster to win an Arkle.

Dont worry celtic son, if walkon beats one near the head of the market of the arkle then AK will be all aboard.

the trainer is full of **** most of the time, hypes every horse up but tells us this is a 2m4f g3 novice etc.

Jewson fav Walkon may head to Newbury on New Year's Eve rather than Dipper Chase at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.

Ran really well on ground he clearly hated. Jumping aside, he was going to run Cue Card close bar that bad error. It'll be difficult, but fairly sure he'll want better ground.

2 bad errors. And Cue Card jumped like a dog. The least worst horse won that.
Report BJG January 2, 2012 4:34 PM GMT
Walkon will be stepped up in trip after finishing third to Cue Card at Newbury on Saturday.

The former top-class juvenile hurdler won on his chasing debut at Exeter over nearly two and a half miles, beating Zaynar and Notus De La Tour, who both subsequently franked the form.

Down two furlongs in trip at the weekend the grey always appeared to be going just half a stride too quick and his trainer Alan King believes it may not be until he is stepped up to three miles that he is seen at his best.

"It was always a risk dropping back in trip with Walkon, and we know now that he needs to go further," said King on his website.

"He was taking on good horses at Newbury and ran OK, but he needs to be stepping up to two-mile-six and maybe even three miles."
