Thinking of booking a seat here for Tuesday of the festival, anyone out there used & can recommend (or not) my only reservation is that it seems a long way out from the winning post ?
it is a long way indeed if you intend to walk to the winning post from there easy 5 mins plus through the crowds
if you are going to return to the grandstand after every race then it gets very tiring with all the walking and the crowds. If you are young and fit it is no problem. I was in in the Martin Pipe marquee for several years and that was situated close to the Guiness. It's a lot of marching about.
On the plus side, you can stay in there and have a rest, something to eat and watch a race indoors if you don't feel like going out to watch.
Have you been before?

Was in the ****ss Grandstand for GC day this year. Decided to get a seat as it was so hectic the year before. You get a good view around the whole course, so it's good for watching the majority of the race except for the finish as when it's tight you can't really tell looking from behind exactly whats happening - but there are obviously monitors. Should be easier to move around on the Tuesday, but was nigh on impossible to get anywhere and back in time for the race on the Friday. Atmosphere wasn't great either, well i say that if you're just there to get pissed up behind the stand it fine, if you're there to watch the racing I'd say you'll have a much better time in Tatts or Club on Tuesday and still get a decent view

Ive been going on Gold Cup day for the last 20 odd years Judorick, always been the one in the group that actually takes the time to go and watch the racing rather than settling for a tv screen and a bar (but each to their own !) for the last 3 years i've gone to CH day although next year I will be Billy no mates as no one else fancies it or can afford 2 days down there, hence the reason why im pondering spending a bit extra and getting a seat
Think I will probably give this a miss and just grab a pitch in Tatts nice and early.
Thnaks again folks

or book Club enclosure ticket? centre of the course is underrated for festival in my opinion. theres a toilet with no queues, a tote betting place and a food/drink place. isnt busy over there and is nice with good weather, doesnt take long to walk to and from the parade ring, and close to the final hurdle/fence
